Bombay Mahal offers a nice lunchtime menu at this restaurant, it is reasonable with good variety & it's tasty. I had the butter chicken thali & my friend had the lamb thali. These platters are wonderfully savory & the naan bread was great!
Stomach ache & diarrhea every time my friends & I eat here. Multiple people, different dishes, same problem. The food tastes great & affordable but the aftermath is not pretty.
Went to Bombay Mahal today for New Year dinner with my wife, & unfortunately, the experience was far below expectations.
I'm Tamil & grew up eating authentic Indian food, so I know what proper flavours, balance, & preparation should taste like. That's why this was especially disappointing.
I ordered the butter chicken thali, & my wife had the lamb thali. Both dishes missed the mark badly. The tandoori chicken pieces were dry & overcooked, the salad lettuce was soggy with no freshness, & the aloo bean side was excessively salty. My butter chicken was watery & lacking depth, while my wife's lamb was salty & not spicy at all, which makes no sense for a lamb curry.
This restaurant used to be excellent, which is why we chose it for New Year. In the past, the food was amazing even if the service wasn't great. Today it was the opposite.. the service was good, but the food quality & execution were very poor. I've came here multiple times in the past within last 15 years.
Really hope this was just an off day, but for a place with such a strong reputation, this was a big miss.
The food is absolutely incredible, it's tasty & flavorful. I went a couple time for the butter chicken on the lunch menu. The sauce is buttery, not too overpowering & the chicken is tender. The naan is out of this world & so are the samosas. However, I would say the service could be better, we had to go get our server multiple times to order (appetizers, mains, refills) & it always felt like we were bothering her. The food is so good tho I could not give less than 5 stars!
It was a bad experience for me & my family. I ordered thali chicken tandoori was no flavor. I can't eat that.i don't know how the chefs cooked that kind of cooking.& served it from kitchen. Marinating was so poor & dingy.
Bombay Mahal on Jean-Talon never disappoints! We ordered as take-out butter chicken, shrimp korma, naan & chaat papri. The chaat papri looked more like pain puri but was just as good. The naan wasn't puffy but rather condensed like a roti.
Very good Customer Service & Excellent food from veggie pakora to fish pakora to chicken korma to chicken karai ( as per request ) to naan.
A must visit the restaurant to enjoy good indian food.
Bravo

We ordered take out from there, the sauce for both the butter chicken & the lamb korma were very liquid & not creamy as expected, but still good, the lamb korma was really better than the butter chicken
This is hands DOWN the best Indian I've had. Butter chicken & lamb korma are to die for. Flavors are always there, sauce has perfect consistency, naan bread is always fresh. I honestly don't understand any of these bad reviews; I've been ordering there at least twice a month for the past year & I've never had a bad experience.
We ordered chicken chilly, & they gave us chicken gravy with chilly. According to their staff, chicken chilly & chicken gravy are the same...overall, it's was an average.
The food is excellent & always has been. However, they have almost halved the amount of chicken in their curry & biriyani. That was one of the big draws - huge portions. This last time just wasn't up to par. Still, it's always been my go to for as long as I can remember so I hope this was a one off. We shall see!
