Always enjoy this Bistro. Today was for brunch, chicken with French toast & the brisket melt. The service, food & atmosphere are consistently good. Price is also fair, (portions are large).
Weather was accommodating so we chose to eat on the terrasse. They don't allow reservations for the terrasse so you need to make a reservation for inside first, then choose the terrace if available when you arrive.
🎉🍾🥂🎊
We recently had our 10th anniversary to celebrate with a 2012 vintage Dom Perignon & takeaway at home.
What a perfect accompaniment... Nolah's Fried Chicken & Mac & Cheese 😋💕 Delicious!!
We absolutely enjoyed Bistro Nolah, one of the best restaurants that we have tasted in a long time. We had Hush Puppies (Cornbread) & Fried Chicken for appetizers. The fried chicken was really flavourful down to the very fibre of the chicken. For dinner, we ordered the shrimp & grits, pan seared scallops (special on the menu) smoked brisket. & for dessert, we had the beignets (the best donuts that you will ever taste in your whole life). Every single course of the meal which they make completely in house including the bread & the special butter was absolutely gorgeous & extremely flavourful that wakes up every single taste bud in your palate.
& our waiter Chris was very attentive & fantastic to us. One of our children has Celiac disease & cannot eat gluten so he could not eat any of the appetizers except one (Chris was also very knowledgeable about the gluten & the non-gluten menu choices as well btw.) & had to wait for his main dish which took a bit of time to arrive as the night was quite busy. When we asked if our child can have his plate first before the rest of us, Christ promptly went to the kitchen & got our child's dish to serve it to our child. & he even remembered that my child might not be used to the spiciness in the dish & they set the spicy sauce on the side so not to make the dish too spicy for him. My child ordered the Blackened Catfish & it was so delicious my child finished every single morsel on his plate even the vegetables asparagus. He finished the food so fast we couldn't even take a photo.
We are so glad that we found this place which is nestled away in a small plaza. It's one of our most enjoyable gastronomical experience inside a beautifully decorated dining room. It's our first time visiting this restaurant & tasting Southern comfort food New Orleans. We will definitely be back.
We went to Bistro Nola last night & had an excellent experience from start to finish.
We shared a few appetizers including the mac & cheese, fried chicken, & gumbo sausage, all were absolutely delicious & full of flavor. Perfect for sharing & a great way to start the meal.
For mains, we had the smoked brisket, braised short ribs, & blackened catfish. Every dish was cooked perfectly & packed with rich, authentic flavors.
Dessert was on another level. We tried the Mississippi mud pie, pain perdu, & beignets. Everything was amazing, but the Oreo mud pie really stood out.
Service was fast, friendly, & very smooth all evening. The restaurant was packed, so we were really glad we made a reservation.
Overall, great value, amazing food, & a fantastic atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.
This was my 2nd time ar Nolah after a 10 year hiatus. I found it was very dark, tables were small & chairs too flimsy. Waiter was very enthusiastic & attentive, however, he kept addressing only a couple of people at the table, rather than letting us all know about the specials. Food-wise: the scallops were good, but are they worth $50? No, not in my opinion. The ceviche was overly citrusy & very small portion. The bread was delicious, as were the Hush Puppies. The chocolate torte & beignets were divine. Fried chicken was tasty & Ceasars salad delicious as well. Overall, it was a good experience, but I find the prices were a but much.
I went with my family for mother's day brunch. I can't wait to go back for dinner. If you go with kids, order the fruits, chicken & French toast.
Update. I finally went for dinner & my experience was so different. It felt like they needed to get rid of us since we went in but I had a reservation. They gave us an awful table for 2, the one just in front of the bar where all waiter & the owner stand to talk...so we requested another one & they gave us a deadline. I heard a waiter harassing a lady next us, where was her party since he had a 4 seat table & she was alone. Food was great but small & high prices. I am changing my 5 star review to meh.
Went to Bistro Nola for Breakfast on Sunday. I didnt have reservations. I sat at the bar. The food was very very good. I was surprised they didnt have fresh squeezed orange juice, & charged $7 for Tropicana OJ, but everything else was stellar. I had the Le Richard. 2 pieces of Fried chicken on French toast...a poached egg on a corn bread muffin, & some ham underneath the muffin, with home fries. Very good. Cooked perfectly.
They have a very well stocked bar too, good scotches & rums. I'm surprised Kalhua for their coffee liqueur, vs Barista from Montreal, very coffee forward coffee liqueur, vs Kalhua. But just offering suggestions.
The brunch was absolutely delicious, n flavourful even my kids loved the pancakes n fried chicken. A sweet charm of a place. Only small issue was that because the place is small i felt a bit rushed towards the end for other reservations. I will definately be going back for dinner & brunches.
I absolutely enjoyed every single meal at Bistro Nolah! First of all, I had no reservations & was assuming I could just show up & be seated as it might not be too busy on a Sunday night but to my surprise it was full! Regardless & irrespective of the fact that I was not expecting them to accommodate us, they were able to make it work! The service was great & the food was even better. Everything was so hot & fresh when it came out. We started with the Mac & cheese, fried chicken, jambalaya & gumbo. Everything was delicious, I found the gumbo a little strong on flavour for my preference but the fried chicken was decadent. Perfect amount of chicken to batter ratio, very fresh & delicious honey glaze to top it off. For mains, we went with the jerk shrimp grits & braised short ribs. Both were delicious! Lastly, for dessert we enjoyed the bread pudding which was also delicious! Overall I would go back over & over just for the amazing food & service. It was beautiful to experience a little bit of NOLA here in Montreal!
'Nolah is a total showstopper! The interior is absolutely beautiful-elegant enough for a special occasion but with a warmth that makes you feel right at home.
We started with the Sausage Gumbo, & the rich, dark roux was perfectly authentic. If you're a fan of Shrimp & Grits, their Charleston-style version is a must-try; the mascarpone-infused grits are incredibly creamy. Masha loved her ribs, & my Buttermilk Fried Chicken had the perfect balance of tenderness & a heavy-duty crunch.
We finished with the Bread Pudding with Bourbon Sauce (an absolute essential) & some airy, powdered sugar-dusted Beignets. It was easily one of the best Creole meals we've had. Highly recommended!'
