About

Bistro Jaybi specializes in authentic Haitian and Caribbean culinary traditions anchored by signature crispy fried chicken. The kitchen emphasizes bold seasoning profiles using traditional island spices that transform poultry into a succulent centerpiece. Patrons encounter a menu driven by deep-rooted regional techniques including plantain preparations and savory legume dishes crafted for maximum flavor intensity. The preparation methods prioritize crunch and texture, ensuring each piece of poultry maintains a balance between a seasoned exterior and tender meat. This establishment functions as a dedicated outpost for those seeking traditional Caribbean soul food prepared with strict attention to historical recipe integrity. The resulting plates offer a direct look into the heart of Haitian comfort food without unnecessary embellishments or modern fusion distractions.

Review Summary

Bistro Jaybi is widely regarded as a hidden gem that delivers consistently delicious, flavorful, and authentic Caribbean dishes, with the griot and oxtail frequently highlighted as standout menu items. Guests often praise the generous portion sizes, the tender quality of the meat, and the well-seasoned plantains, noting that the food is prepared with noticeable care and passion. While the physical space is described as cozy and intimate, the overall dining experience remains highly positive for both regular meals and catering events. Although some minor inconsistencies regarding side dish ratios, promotional clarity, or specific condiment flavors were noted by a few, the vast majority of visitors strongly recommend the restaurant for its exceptional taste and satisfying value.

Plantains, oxtail, Mac n cheese, & griot were outstanding. Rice was a little dry; I wish they gave more sauce for it. Cute place. 😊

I ordered a small griot fritay. It was good. The plantains were flat & crispy just like I like them. The griot was tender & juicy. The marinade was tasty. No complaints!! The only thing that was poorly done was the picklies who literally just tasted like vinegar. The place is a bit small but I guess thats why they call it a bistro... The service was ok, nothing fancy.

Giving 1 star because, I can't put none.
Order 300$ for 15 person is wild. The economy isn't a reason. The oxtail tacos seem like humid chips. They only gave us too sauce. & the plantain seem to have frozen doesn't seem fresh at all.

The bday girl is so disappointed, this is robbing people morning + the service was not good.

I recently tried this restaurant for the first time, & overall, it was a great experience. The oxtail plate was absolutely delicious-the meat was tender, falling right off the bone, & packed with rich, savory flavor. The jerk chicken was just as impressive, fresh & full of that perfect balance of spice & taste. The plantains were also a highlight, well-seasoned & cooked just right.

I also tried the jerk burrito. While it was definitely tasty, I did find that it could have used more meat, as there was a bit too much rice in comparison. That said, it didn't take away from the overall experience or my rating.

This was my first time trying this spot, & it definitely won't be my last. Looking forward to ordering more & exploring more of the menu!
