After reading & hearing so many outstanding reviews for this restaurant, I had high expectations going in. However, I didn't love my experience, & will likely not be back.
To start, our waiter was lovely, but relatively absent throughout the evening. I'm not sure if they were short-staffed that night, but the restaurant was only about 60% full & we had difficulty flagging our waiter down.
The salted caramel espresso martini I had was amazing, but unfortunately the rest of the food that followed was lackluster. We ordered the arugula salad, truffle fries, & octopus to start - everything was simply'ok' - except for the octopus which was inedible & covered in some sort of congealed fat. The restaurant kindly covered 50% of the dish because they noticed we hadn't touched it, which was super appreciated!
For our mains, I ordered the Gamberi Fra'Diavolo (spicy shrimp & spaghetti) & my fiancé ordered the pasta with lamb meat sauce, & both were solid, but we had to wait over 1.5 hours to receive our dishes. Again, the restaurant was not even close to capacity, & not once did our server come by & acknowledge the wait time.
By the time we finished our mains, we just wanted to leave & not risk ordering dessert/coffee for fear of how long it would take. I wish we had had a more positive experience to report, but for the price - we did not find the service/food adequate.
Maybe the restaurant was just having an off night, but there are no shortage of amazing Italian spots in Montreal which we would recommend instead of Bis!
A fun restaurant before a Habs game. We were allowed to park close by & the resto gave us a voucher to cover the cost of parking. The food was generally good. Appetizers were delicious. We tried the Calamari Fritti, Salsiccia Peperonata & finally Zucchini Fritti. The main dishes we had the Ossobuco di Vitello with risotto milanese. We found the veal to be very fatty.
Also the risotto was lacking taste. The other dish we tried was the Melanzane alla Siciliana. It was very good however not very filling. Probably a good idea to have a little pasta with it.
Overall I enjoyed our dining experience.
We had reservations here from a suggestion from a good friend. It really hit the mark! The meatball'amuse bouche' could be skipped. If i were to suggest something, make meatballs from the house lamb ragu, that would be a much bigger hit. It's also a taste of your signature dish, should the table want to order it later.
All of our dishes were great. Two of the four of us opted for the duck special, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The other two got the lamb ragu dish, which they loved too.
Desserts were good as well. Shared the profiteroles & the crime brûlée.
Biz Ristorante in Montreal undoubtedly offers some of the best lamb dishes I've ever tasted! The flavors are absolutely spectacular, with each bite showcasing tender, perfectly seasoned meat that melts in your mouth. The preparation is exquisite, using fresh ingredients & traditional cooking methods that elevate the dining experience. Whether it's roasted, grilled, or stewed, the lamb dishes are always a highlight of my meals here.
Spectacular, we were a group of 3 & went in pretty early so it was just us, everyone was a delight to talk to & all 3 dishes were fantastic :) totally recommend
They also Buco is delicious. It actually has bone marrow. The risotto is something to try because that's delicious as well so why not try both dishes? They say pictures worth thousand words so here's a picture. Bon appétit!
Memorable Italian meal! Cozy elegant atmosphere. Good variety of wines by the glass if you don't want a whole bottle. We shared a burrata & an arugula salad for the appetizer, then we each had our own pasta dishes. My wife had the linguine vongole & I had the tagliolini lamb ragu. The vongole was generously covered in clams & the ragu had abundant sauce. Both were flavorful & filling. Service was efficient, respectful & not rushed.
Stopped by for a late lunch recently. The servers were top notch, very attentive & nice, & the restaurant itself is very well appointed. Our dishes were quite good, regrettably this visit did not warrant a 5* for the price point. I had the penne main course & the pasta could have been cooked much better. I will likely give them another shot at a full 5* review!
The food at Bis was absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere was perfect. & service was top-notch. Our server, Paloma was fantastic at explaining each dish in depth & suggesting recommended dishes. Her & her team made a great meal even more enjoyable! Would highly recommend.
Maybe pricy , but we enjoyed all the dishes from starter to main course & the delicious tiramisu.
We had a two night stay in Montreal & selected this restaurant just from finding it walking around the first evening. Food, service & wine were splendid. We loved it so much we decided to go there again the second night (which sometimes ends up disappointing) but it was even better the second time. We had totally different dishes the second night & they were superb. Highly recommend!!!
Absolutely amazing experience ! We were a group of 12 & they managed to accommodate us last minute on Grand Prix Weekend. The staff were incredibly friendly & attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed despite the busy atmosphere. The food was exceptional & delicious dishes. Highly recommend this place.
Discovered BIS two months ago & love it. Delicious dishes & superb service. I'm now going on a weekly basis. Highly recommend this restaurants. Food is fresh & delicious.
The service was good. We got two dishes. The spaghetti was too salty & Risotto Chicken was without any salt! Overall, wouldn't recommend.
This is a nice place to eat with great food & one of the few places open for lunch. My husband had the pasta with the muscles, clams, lobster, shrimp, calamari, & scallops.....I had the green pasta in a cream saffron sauce with the small shrimp in the pasta & both of these dishes were amazing. This is one of the few places with birra moretti in Montreal which is my husband's favorite. The owner & waiter were nice & helped us with a great selection on lunch & they make you feel like family. I highly recommend this place.

I view BIS as the #1 Italian restaurant in Montreal. Hadn't been since before Covid however (when I went often). Was somewhat disappointed in yesterday's veal. Didn't approach at all the veal quality to which I had been accustomed at BIS. To me, the veal dishes are the true Quality TEST for an Italian restaurant. Hopefully, this was just an off day.

Fabulous dining experience. Paloma was wonderfully attentive & helpful when we ate dinner here. We loved the charming ambience, a very nice wine selection, & fabulous dishes done authentically. We chose the bolognese which was rich, dark, & fabulous, & the Osso Bucco which was quite literally falling off the bone delicious. Absolutely flawless execution, presentation, & experience.

Second visit to Bis, still charmed! Always delicious, great selection of wine & dishes, outstanding flavours. I will definitely be back.

We had a nice sidewalk table for two & thoroughly enjoyed the food & service. Serge was wonderful. He paid attention to all the little details & we felt very looked after. My wife had the gnocchi & raved about it while I savoured every bite of a duck dish with blueberry sauce served with pasta. It was a real treat to eat here & enjoy the wonderful Italian dishes.
