there are some things in life that befuddle me & that i must come to accept that i will just never be able to understand - how bernie beigne can make donuts so ridiculously incredible & perfect is one of those things. what might be even more astounding is how affordable these massive donuts are, when they are possibly one of the most flawless things i've ever had. i could have ten of these & not get sick of it. donuts seriously cannot get better than this.
the apple fritter is HUMUNGOUS & HEFTY. i could feel its freshness as i attempted to balance the behemoth in the palm of my hand: the hot dough fresh out of the fryer, still a bit moist & juicy from the oil. it was like i'd never tasted a real donut before - the inside was the softest & fluffiest pastry you could ever imagine (not unlike bread, with its not-too-sweet fragrance & the way it pulled apart) & a sugary, glazed, crunchy crust. however, the perfection of the apple fritter doesn't stop with the dough - it also tasted incredible. the donut is fragrant & not too sweet, & it is embedded with sizeable, slightly tart, soft chunks of boiled apple coated with a veryyy subtle cinnamon flavour.
their selection of regular donuts is impossible to choose from, but somehow i narrowed it down to their brownies one. i am not kidding when i say this is literally two bite brownies in donut form. it is an masterpiece of chocolatey sweetness: the crunchy, nostalgic chocolate sprinkles; the light, airy, buttery chocolate mousse; the super rich, thick, smooth, & sweet chocolate icing; & of course, the fudgy two-bite brownie perched on top of it all. it is an absolute weapon & chocolatey force to be reckoned with. of course, the donut was perfect as well: i've never had a softer & more pillowy treat, the way it bites off without resistance & melts in your mouth to give a pleasant sweetness.
Made it to Bernie Beigne just before 6 PM, so by then the only option was glazed, & I was honestly lucky to even have that option because there were only a handful left.
The beigne was delicious, & I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. But honestly, it was just a regular doughnut. There was nothing particularly special or exciting about it.
I'd give it a solid 3 stars. If I had waited in a long line for these, I probably would've been disappointed. Good donut, but nothing more than that.
The most delicious glazed donut ever! Didn't really have to wait which was great on a Saturday morning at 10:30am, the donuts are BIG & fluffy & just absolutely delicious. My favorite was the sucre & cannelle 🩷😍 wow 11/10!

The staff was incredibly friendly & welcoming. We told them we had driven all the way from the Bronx to Montreal just to try the doughnuts, & they made us feel right at home.
The doughnuts were outstanding-easily some of the best we've ever had! A special thank you for the Boston Cream & Simpson doughnuts. We also loved the cinnamon sugar, chocolate frosted, & glazed doughnuts. Every single one was fresh & delicious.
We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Montreal. Thank you for such an amazing experience!
The best donuts in the city from my experience. Probably some of the best donuts I have had, period.
My recommendation: stick with the glazed donuts, where this store shines is on the dough, it's fantastic. I did not like the toppings, the quality of ingredients of the toppings is not as good, they are too sugary & they take away from the quality of the dough.
Quaint donut shop with fresh made treats that melt in your mouth. The sugar, glazed & apple fritter donuts are dangerously good. They even tossed in an extra donut, just because. Friendly, welcoming, & dripping with tasty goodness. I'm a fan!

I got a few donuts including the maple bacon & the glazed donut. The maple bacon was my favorite! I love the sweet & savory combo, & it wasn't overly sweet 🥹💗 & of course, you can never go wrong with a classic glazed donut. The staff were also very friendly & even let me try the apple fritter & the cinnamon sugar donut. Merci beaucoup 💗🦭

The best glazed donut I've ever had! We were visiting Montreal & this place was highly recommended. Definitely check it out! The donuts were light, fluffy & all the different flavours were crafted with care you could tell. Dean was helping us pick out donuts & he was super friendly as well! I'll be dreaming of these donuts back in Sask!
This was my first time here & this place definitely lives up to the hype! We ordered the apple fritter & original glazed donut. The apple fritter was a lot bigger than we thought & the original glazed donut was probably the best donut I've ever had! 10/10 experience
