Review Summary

Behesht Restaurant is widely praised for authentic Persian flavors, with koobideh, joojeh, and Barg offerings, generous portions, and a warm traditional atmosphere. The service is friendly and attentive, and the decor and ambiance often feel welcoming and traditional. Overall quality is high and prices are reasonable for the portions, making it a top choice for Persian cuisine in Montreal. Some reviews note occasional dishes that are not served hot or minor inconsistencies between visits, and a few experiences mention long waits or rare issues with cleanliness or safety. Taken together, the restaurant is celebrated for flavorful, well prepared meals and strong hospitality, suitable for family meals, date nights, and gatherings.

Really disappointed with my experience here. The chicken for the zereshk polo was actually good, but the rice was some of the worst I've had - it smelled off & wasn't fluffy at all, making it hard to eat. The koobideh was also disappointing; it wasn't juicy & tasted more like a burger patty than traditional koobideh. The one bright spot was the gentleman serving us, who was very nice & welcoming throughout the visit. Unfortunately, the food quality just didn't meet expectations.

Koobideh was incredibly tender. Amazing portions for the price, & really delicious.

I highly recommend this Persian restaurant. The food is delicious, fresh, clean, & clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The atmosphere is beautiful, well-organized, & very pleasant, & the staff are polite & respectful.
The Koobideh kebab & Chenjekebab (grilled lamb chunks) are always our go-to choices-they're incredibly tasty, juicy, & made with great-quality meat. This place is a perfect option for a date night or for dining with friends & family.
Wishing you continued success.

Merci & bonne continuation !

I went to Behesht Restaurant on Thursday night after quite a while The service was good the rice was great & the marinated olives were excellent
I ordered koobideh & it was even better than usual I'd had it before but that night it was absolutely amazing I truly recommend that everyone go & try the koobideh

This was the worst kebab I've ever tried. It was tasteless & extremely fatty, & it wasn't even cooked properly. The rice was also disappointing. We ordered both barg & koobideh, & both were a complete disaster.

This was a first catering order for us & we do not recommend this restaurant due to *lateness*, *incomplete preparation*, *inappropriate presentation* & poor quality of food. It didn't seem like they understood what it means to cater ready food nor that they appreciated our business.

We ordered food for multiple people for our Christmas party & asked that the rice & meat be kept in separate containers for an agreed upon time. Results:
- We drove an hour to get to the restaurant & arrived a few minutes before the pickup time, we were told we're'early' & had to wait another 45 minutes, which derailed our party dinner plans.
- The food was packed in individual portions instead of all meat together & rice together, which meant we had to separate the meat & rice & rearrange everything before serving.
- The kebab skewers were broken & not grilled enough, no saffron, which is terrible koobideh by any standards.
- The lettuce & cucumber & tomatoes were not even chopped so we had to make the salad ourselves!
- The'yellow' color on the rice looked like food colouring instead of saffron so we had to improvise ourselves.

In the end, we had to re-grill the kababs ourselves & add saffron to make it presentable & we had to make the salads ourselves from the ingredients. As a result of the restaurant's sloppy service our dinner plans were delayed by 2 hours, which is why we will not order from this restaurant again.

The koobideh kebab was very tough & had an unpleasant smell. The chelo mahi?e was overly sweet, to the point that it was inedible for us.

Food was not tasty & not good at all. I ordered a koobideh & was not cooked enough. Food was cold & there was no one who came to check on us no waiter. They only brought food & never saw after. Service not good & last time going there food was awful for what i paid! Do not recommend this place at all.

I literally WASTED MY MONEY.
Compared to Diba Restaurant, where I usually order from, Behesht Restaurant had a very weak presentation. The salad came with an uncut cucumber & one large slice of tomato, for $8, which is honestly ridiculous.

With the koobideh dish, I only received half of a small tomato, which was bordering on unacceptable, especially since the portion included two kebabs. The food was overly salty, & the soup was extremely basic & plain.

There was no garnish at all on the food.
When you order from Diba, they generously include yogurt, plenty of garnish, lemon, torshi, & even doogh or Coke in the box, but none of that was offered here.

Never back to you again Behesht😶?🌫?

Joojeh is bland & dry. Koobideh is dry & taste like aboslute shit. Bonab is better lol

This restaurant isn't ideal if you're looking to find a bite somewhere & expect to get seats immediately, neither is there any space to wait except 2 chairs in a cramped foyer & entrance. We waited over an hour to get seats & quite frankly the set up, ambiance, & the practicality of the restaurant's atmosphere were not worth waiting that long for. & neither was the food. If you really intend on waiting because your heart desires Iraqi food more than anything, I suggest having one of your own members from your party line up for you so the rest of the entrance isn't crowded & you don't feel hot & claustrophobic.

Inside the actual restaurant, the atmosphere is is stuffy, poor, & under ventilated. If you have problems with feeling suffocated, do not go to this restaurant. My sister experienced severe nausea from the lack of oxygen flow throughout the rest of the stay there (a universal experience for her whenever she is in a poorly ventilated area). She ended up having to leave her meal midway & step outside to breathe. You'll find yourself sweating & the employees will be asking themselves what is up with the AC (a literal conversation I overheard). The architecture & design inside isn't anything relatively new but reflects quite traditional styles so it isn't all bad, but it feels stuffy & humid everywhere which veers you from noticing anything nice Additionally, just from standing in line you can see the understaffed work environment. There aren't enough employees working & delays are everywhere in the restaurant. The servers themselves are nice, & the hospitality efforts are great, but it's very messy. It's more on the amount of the employees than it is on the actual employees themselves, they are not the problem; the number of them are.

The food was okay. My family & I have tried many Iraqi dining experiences & this one was mediocre. It is not worth spending 3 hours just to wait in line, wait more for food, & then eat. The wait for the food itself isn't terrible. We got 2 orders of the chenjeh, an order of the vaziri, & the lamb shank. The lamb shank was a favourite for me & the koobideh was decently flavoured but nothing that stood out at all. The chenjeh was okay too. Lentil soup is nice & salad quantity is decent but it's just an average salad with thousand island dressing. Complimentary tea is provided after your meal, & our total for 4 meals & 2 drinks (Ayran & a soda) was around 153 bucks CAD.

While the service & hospitality are sure to meet your standards, they unfortunately don't make up for the uncomfortable atmosphere of the restaurant & excessively + unreasonable wait times. If you value your time & money I suggest opting for another spot that is more accessible friendly & can accommodate you better overall.

Great food - high quality meat & ingredients. I'd skip the spiced koobideh, as it tasted like added hot sauce instead of chillies.

Compared to Toronto, this is quite pricey for the same portions.

We had friendly staff, there wasn't much of a wait, & plenty of parking at the location.

I wish I could give a better review as I liked the food (though the koobideh was a bit undercooked).
However, I cannot in all fairness say that this restaurant is clean enough for a returning customer. There were so many flies hovering above the table that eating turned into a hassle. I had to constantly wave my hand to prevent flies from sitting on my food. On top of that, when they brought bread & butter to our table, the first package of butter I picked was open & used. It was clear that it was pick up from another table once the customers had finished their food (see the picture), not to mention that the butter was not even real butter; it was margarine (so cheap).

All in all, with so many choices in Montreal, this customer is not coming back.

Post note:
At the end of our dinner, my son of 11 ordered the Baqlava on the menu. He got a plate with one piece of Baqlava. The item on the menu was a two-piece dessert. They just felt comfortable bringing one piece for my son since he was a kid. As it turned out, they did not feel shy charging the full-price though.

My first experience with Iranian cuisine in Montreal was absolutely wonderful. We ordered Koobideh, kebab Torsh, & Cholo Mahiche - each dish was rich in flavor & perfectly cooked.

The ambiance was traditional, clean, & peaceful. You'll enjoy a comforting, authentic meal.

Wonderful experience, delicious food, & very clean & creative environment. I got the mixed koobideh & it was delightful & tasteful with each bite. I'm glad I got to take some home!
& the homemade baklava & the imported baklava pairs really nicely with the house tea. I will love coming back, that's for sure!

What impressed me the most about the restaurant was its beautiful ambiance - from the lovely paintings on the walls to the elegant decorations & the soft traditional Iranian music playing in the background.

As for the food, I really enjoyed it. It was tasty, the portion sizes were just right, & overall, I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5. We ordered kebab Torsh & Koobideh, both of which were well-prepared. The meal came with a choice of salad or soup, & it ended nicely with a cup of tea.

Also, the lady who served our food was very kind & friendly, which made the experience more pleasant.

The mixed koobideh was so good! & the lentil soup was so delicious. My first try was with uber, i had the choice between a salad or a soup. I picked salad, it was alright for me. Second time at the restaurant, I picked the soup & it was the best. Would go back again to try another dish!

Here's a polished review: We recently dined at Behesht in Montreal, & overall, it was a pleasant experience. The quality of the food was acceptable & reasonably priced. We appreciated that both salad or soup were included as complementary starters with the main dishes. The salad was fresh, which set a good tone for the meal. We ordered Koobideh & Chenjeh. While the Koobideh was flavorful, it could have been a bit more tender & juicy. The Chenjeh, on the other hand, was cooked perfectly. The service was prompt, ensuring a smooth dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was also noteworthy, with enough tables to accommodate guests comfortably, even during busy hours, without feeling rushed. One of the highlights of the experience was the complementary black tea, which was a great way to end the meal. Additionally, the restaurant went out of its way to allow our friends to bring their own cake for a special occasion. The manager kindly accommodated this request without any extra charges, which was a thoughtful & generous gesture. Overall, Behesht offers a great mix of good food, warm hospitality, & a comfortable atmosphere. We'll definitely consider visiting.
