Review Summary

Behesht Restaurant draws praise for authentic Persian flavors, with koobideh, chenjeh, and barg kebabs, flavorful rice, and dishes like fesenjan and ash that many find consistently delicious. The atmosphere is warm and traditional, with elegant decor and attentive, friendly service that makes it feel welcoming for dates, family meals, or group dining. While the food quality and portions are often highlighted as excellent and good value, a few guests note occasional issues such as over-saltiness, undercooked items, or inconsistent preparation, and some experiences with wait times or crowded spaces. Takeout and catering experiences are mixed, with generous portions and timely delivery mentioned by some and complaints about preparation, packaging, or delays by others. Overall, Behesht is regarded as a standout Persian option in Montreal, known for flavor, ambiance, and hospitality, with some room for improvement in consistency and logistics.

First time trying Persian cuisine. We went on a weekday, so the restaurant was calm with no big crowds.

Atmosphere & decor: 10/10
Service: 10/10
Tea: 10/10
Food: 6.5/10. The lamb shank had too much tomato sauce & wasn't very enjoyable. The kobebiahs were delicious they were juicy & tender. However both dishes were unfortunately not served hot. The soup was tasty & warm. The salad was also good.

The mixed chicken & beef skewers are delicious & affordable. They even include a soup in the price. For the price, it is extremely filling. The black tea is also nice & soothing after the meal. Great restaurant to eat!

I literally WASTED MY MONEY.
Compared to Diba Restaurant, where I usually order from, Behesht Restaurant had a very weak presentation. The salad came with an uncut cucumber & one large slice of tomato, for $8, which is honestly ridiculous.

With the koobideh dish, I only received half of a small tomato, which was bordering on unacceptable, especially since the portion included two kebabs. The food was overly salty, & the soup was extremely basic & plain.

There was no garnish at all on the food.
When you order from Diba, they generously include yogurt, plenty of garnish, lemon, torshi, & even doogh or Coke in the box, but none of that was offered here.

Never back to you again Behesht😶?🌫?

Fesenjoon was incredible, as was everything I ate! Loved the lentil soup especially. Only comments would be the music was a little loud so it was sometimes hard to communication with the server.

This restaurant isn't ideal if you're looking to find a bite somewhere & expect to get seats immediately, neither is there any space to wait except 2 chairs in a cramped foyer & entrance. We waited over an hour to get seats & quite frankly the set up, ambiance, & the practicality of the restaurant's atmosphere were not worth waiting that long for. & neither was the food. If you really intend on waiting because your heart desires Iraqi food more than anything, I suggest having one of your own members from your party line up for you so the rest of the entrance isn't crowded & you don't feel hot & claustrophobic.

Inside the actual restaurant, the atmosphere is is stuffy, poor, & under ventilated. If you have problems with feeling suffocated, do not go to this restaurant. My sister experienced severe nausea from the lack of oxygen flow throughout the rest of the stay there (a universal experience for her whenever she is in a poorly ventilated area). She ended up having to leave her meal midway & step outside to breathe. You'll find yourself sweating & the employees will be asking themselves what is up with the AC (a literal conversation I overheard). The architecture & design inside isn't anything relatively new but reflects quite traditional styles so it isn't all bad, but it feels stuffy & humid everywhere which veers you from noticing anything nice Additionally, just from standing in line you can see the understaffed work environment. There aren't enough employees working & delays are everywhere in the restaurant. The servers themselves are nice, & the hospitality efforts are great, but it's very messy. It's more on the amount of the employees than it is on the actual employees themselves, they are not the problem; the number of them are.

The food was okay. My family & I have tried many Iraqi dining experiences & this one was mediocre. It is not worth spending 3 hours just to wait in line, wait more for food, & then eat. The wait for the food itself isn't terrible. We got 2 orders of the chenjeh, an order of the vaziri, & the lamb shank. The lamb shank was a favourite for me & the koobideh was decently flavoured but nothing that stood out at all. The chenjeh was okay too. Lentil soup is nice & salad quantity is decent but it's just an average salad with thousand island dressing. Complimentary tea is provided after your meal, & our total for 4 meals & 2 drinks (Ayran & a soda) was around 153 bucks CAD.

While the service & hospitality are sure to meet your standards, they unfortunately don't make up for the uncomfortable atmosphere of the restaurant & excessively + unreasonable wait times. If you value your time & money I suggest opting for another spot that is more accessible friendly & can accommodate you better overall.

What impressed me the most about the restaurant was its beautiful ambiance - from the lovely paintings on the walls to the elegant decorations & the soft traditional Iranian music playing in the background.

As for the food, I really enjoyed it. It was tasty, the portion sizes were just right, & overall, I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5. We ordered kebab Torsh & Koobideh, both of which were well-prepared. The meal came with a choice of salad or soup, & it ended nicely with a cup of tea.

Also, the lady who served our food was very kind & friendly, which made the experience more pleasant.

I found the food to be very salty & just so so. May be the nice decor in the restaurant gets your expectations high.
Don't even bother with lamb shank no matter how much good they tell you it is.

Lentil soup is good

The mixed koobideh was so good! & the lentil soup was so delicious. My first try was with uber, i had the choice between a salad or a soup. I picked salad, it was alright for me. Second time at the restaurant, I picked the soup & it was the best. Would go back again to try another dish!

Here's a polished review: We recently dined at Behesht in Montreal, & overall, it was a pleasant experience. The quality of the food was acceptable & reasonably priced. We appreciated that both salad or soup were included as complementary starters with the main dishes. The salad was fresh, which set a good tone for the meal. We ordered Koobideh & Chenjeh. While the Koobideh was flavorful, it could have been a bit more tender & juicy. The Chenjeh, on the other hand, was cooked perfectly. The service was prompt, ensuring a smooth dining experience. The ambiance of the restaurant was also noteworthy, with enough tables to accommodate guests comfortably, even during busy hours, without feeling rushed. One of the highlights of the experience was the complementary black tea, which was a great way to end the meal. Additionally, the restaurant went out of its way to allow our friends to bring their own cake for a special occasion. The manager kindly accommodated this request without any extra charges, which was a thoughtful & generous gesture. Overall, Behesht offers a great mix of good food, warm hospitality, & a comfortable atmosphere. We'll definitely consider visiting.

Decor: Exquisite, beautiful, stainglass windows, the sun hit perfectly, persian rugs, faux brick that wasn't tacky...very chic for it's location! Soup: Lentil soup, insane, I could eat 4 bowls. Hummus: Very good, could have had more than a normal-sized portions. We tried ALL of the meat skewers in their'Behesht' platter. Unfortunately, the chicken breast skewer & the cubes of meat skewers were a bit overdone & dry, but the bone-in chicken & those made of ground meat were some of the best Persian bites I've ever had. So freaking good. Be VERY careful when ordering extra skewers. We ordered 2 extra & there are no prices for individual skewers on the menu. One was 7$, one was 24$. Baklava & tea for dessert was excellent. Tea was caradmom-based, so if you like that, you'll love the tea. But I must mention one last thing that was unfortnate. Our server was super nice & super kind to everyone, full of smiles to all customers.....except for us. The kids were well-behaved, we ordered efficiently, but she was curt, dismissive & her body language was quite rude. Now, obviously this could be all in my head, but she was like this to all the people at our table & we observed her not doing this with any other table. The predominant language at our table was NOT English (nor French), & we couldn't help but feel that there was some untowards feeling towards us because of it. Again, nothing that we could'prove', but a LOT of little things adding up. So, if we could avoid that server again, I would go back. The bone-in chicken & spicy Koobideh are calling for me with their meaty Siren song.

Amazing food!! Our first time here & absolutely loved everything we had. Big portions & they serve free tea after your done!! Loved their lentil soup. Wish service was better by greeting us at the door & checking on us to see if we needed anything. That was the only downfall! Would definitely come back!

Fantastic food!! We make sure to visit this restaurant every time we visit from Toronto. They have a wide range of options in their menu & the food is truly tasty! The restaurant itself is very cute & cozy. The staff are very friendly & attentive & make it an enjoyable experience. Looking forward to future visits! The lentil soup that's served with every dish is a must try!!

Behesht Restaurant in Montreal is a great spot for authentic Iranian cuisine. The food, service, & prices are all excellent, making it a perfect choice for anyone craving Persian flavors. We ordered the Toranj platter for two, which was beautifully presented & came with a generous variety of four kebabs: koobideh (ground beef), chicken koobideh, chicken kebab, & barg kebab. It also included two plates of fragrant saffron rice & a choice of salad or soup, making it a hearty & satisfying meal. To complement our meal, we tried their yogurt with moosir (Persian shallots) & marinated olives, which were absolutely delicious & added a lovely touch of traditional flavors to the experience. The portions were generous, the kebabs were perfectly grilled, & everything was seasoned to perfection. The restaurant has a cozy & welcoming atmosphere, & the service was attentive & friendly throughout. For the quality of the food & the portion sizes, the prices were very reasonable. Behesht is definitely a must-visit for fans of Iranian cuisine or anyone looking to try something new.

Nous avons pris un mixte kebab, un riz à l'agneau, une salade d'aubergines & soupe aux lentilles. Tout était délicieux & le service était parfait. Nous allons sûrement y revenir.

On a particularly cold night, We found ourselves seeking warmth & comfort at Behesht, an Iranian restaurant that came highly recommended by locals. Nestled away in an unassuming location, this place truly lives up to its reputation as a hidden gem. The evening began with the Soup of the Day - a hearty Lentil soup that was the perfect remedy for the chill outside. Accompanied by a side of Marinated Olives, the meal started on a high note. The flavors were robust, reminiscent of home-cooked meals that soothe the soul. For the main course, we ordered two plates of Koobideh & Ghormeh Sabzi. The Koobideh, a traditional grilled ground meat dish, was tender & seasoned to perfection. The Ghormeh Sabzi, a fragrant herb stew with tender chunks of meat & beans, was equally delightful. Both dishes were served in generous portions, easily enough to satisfy the appetites of four adults. The pricing at Behesht is reasonable, especially considering the portion sizes & the quality of the food. It's clear that this restaurant prioritizes authenticity & a home-style cooking approach, making it a perfect spot for anyone craving traditional Iranian flavors. Despite its somewhat hidden location, Behesht is a treasure waiting to be discovered. The overall experience was highly positive, & I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a comforting & satisfying meal.

This place definitely has hygiene problems. I live in Toronto, & on my way back from Quebec, when I was feeling a bit under the weather, I searched for a Persian restaurant to have some soup. I saw the ratings & thought, "Yeah, this is where we should go." My family, who was visiting Canada, was with me. When we went to wash our hands, a rat ran into the washroom! I screamed & left immediately. I'm not even sure if they actually took care of the rat, though they claimed they did. My mistake was staying there after seeing it, but I wasn't feeling well enough to search for another place. The food quality was mediocre at best. Overall, this was one of the worst Persian restaurants I've ever been to.

Excellent Food. My family & I visit as often as possible from the US. Our son lives in Montreal, so whenever we visit him, we always stop for a delicious Persian Meal. You know that the food is authentic because it is almost always packed with Persians. Our favorites are the Lentil Soup & the Koobideh. Staff are warm & friendly & very polite.

We ordered Kale Kebab, soup & Salad, ans Marinated Olives for starter. Kale kebab was absolutely tasty as it was marinated with pomegranate sauce. For the main course, we ordered Kebab koobideh which was very juicy & delicious. Overall food quality was high & the restaurant ambiance was nice. The service could have been better as there were only two personals with a lot of customers.
