Beauty's was a must-see for me, as a first-timer in Montreal. & I must say, as an American who is no stranger to breakfast sandwiches, this restaurant has some of THE BEST bagels & bacon I've ever tasted in my life! Their food is delicious & their service is socialable & attentive. They're obviously the kind of place where everyone does everything & I really respect that. When I come back to Montreal, I will make sure to visit them again- multiple times!
I don't usually leave a bad review but the service I received was so bad that I had to make a comment. There is nothing special about the menu here & I don't understand why there is such a rush or wait to come & eat here. It was my first time; I've had this place on my list for a while but I won't be coming back. I had the Challah French toast & it was ok. Service was horrible - I asked what was special in the menu & I was pointed to the Beauty's Special on the menu, as if I can't read. Thankfully the other recommendation that the waitress made based on her preference helped my uncle make a choice. It took me some time to order & I was told I had to make it quick because the lunch rush was coming & it had already been a while. By the time my uncle & his wife's order was done (which was ordered'in time'), I ordered my plate & finished eating before them. I didn't appreciate being rushed, I understand there is a rush & I know I'm no one particularly important but it still felt disrespectful to me. I wish everyone coming to this restaurant a good experience but unfortunately I did not get one.

Un lieu emblématique de Montréal. & même si l'endroit a récemment été rénové, il a gardé son charme & son atmosphère d'autrefois. Manger chez Beauty's, c'est faire un petit saut dans le temps. On y lunch sans prise de tête. Les patates sautées sont réussies à chaque fois & le sandwich BBM - salami, oeuf & cheddar sur pain challah est parfait.
I was a dedicated Beauty's regular back in the 90s. Today brunch for my 10 year old son, 6 year old daughter & me was 80 dollars, very very rushed, waiters took plates we weren't finished with & brought us the bill while we were eating, very scabby with coffee refills. Probably not the case for people who can afford to be regulars. Tasty though. Very tasty. Tiny portions, had to feed my kids again at home. Goodbye Beauty's! I loved you but there are far more generous friendlier places for brunch in this city!
I have no idea what's happened to Beautys over the past year but whatever has changed, it was not for the good. At kne time, this was an iconic Montreal restaurant with some of the best breakfast items & hashbrowns in the entire city. Now the food is bland & without flair, there is no more love being put into the food at Beautys. Recent reviews over the past year, all seem to say the same thing, at best it is hit & miss. This mornings order was a delivery, it consisted of tiny pieces of burnt black hasbrowns & crushed toast & this is not the first time in recent months. We ate in the restaurant 34 days ago, in the middle of the week, not busy, so no excuse except.. no more love in the food at Beautys. Dry & burnt omelet with burnt hasbrowns & dry over toasted bread. My decades of attending or ordering from Beautys officially ends today, & it breaks my heart to see this happen.
Beauty's never fails to disappoint. I had the Beauty's breakfast with two pancakes, potatoes, sausages & bacon, two eggs & a bagel. It was a huge plate & as good as I remember from coming 15 years ago.
Beauty's Luncheonette in Montreal is your go-to for a cozy, throwback vibe & some unexpectedly solid life advice from the servers-who are more like your cool aunt who just knows stuff. They told me, "Give love, get it back tenfold." Yeah, & it starts with Montreal's famous bagels with scrambled eggs, avo, & tomatoes. Don't knock the "Mish Mash" until you try it; it's a bizarre mash-up of salami & hot dogs that just works. This place isn't just old-school, it's GOLD-school. Drop by for a bite, a laugh, celebrity sightings, & maybe a life lesson or two.

It's been a long time since I was last here. I have such fond memories of coming here pre-pandemic. The service used to be friendly, the food always solid, & great atmosphere. I have never been shooed out of a restaurant until today at Beautys. I understand that when there's a line up out the door, the tables need to turnover & it's rude for guests to sit around chatting well after they're done eating. I'm always doing my best to be a good guest & leaving as soon after finishing my meal as possible. Today was too much. My friend was not even finished her plate before we were rudely told to three times that there's a line up & they needed the table. The server, who has been there for years & previously given great service, was hounding us to leave. When my friend went to the restroom at the very end, she literally came up to me & said, point blank, "We need the table now." Needless to say, don't think I'll be back. I say this having been a server for years.
A Montréal land Mark ! A must go ! Order their Beauty's special which is a bagel with whipped cream cheese , smoked salmon, tomatoes onions! add crispy bacon for additional fun !
If you like chopped liver, Beauty's is the place to go. You get a scoop of chopped chicken liver, on a bed of veggies, a side of gravy, topped with clarified onions. Delicious! But Beauty's, (along with other Montreal institutions like Schwartz's), is cursed with having to live up to all the hype. Nevertheless, Beauty's offers a decent breakfast. They also make a good burger which they won't over cook if you ask for it rare. This is something most restaurants refuse to do, (citing health reasons). Try the classic smoked salmon on a bagel with cream cheese.
Quite a pleasant time. The wait was just enough time to conjure a mean hunger, which was sated by the eggs with lox, the beauty's breakfast melt, & a pair of excellent chocolate chip pancakes. It's a good breakfast, but I find it just a bit of a stretch to consider it a proper destination for a meal, especially from a distance of more than 30 minutes.
I always wanted to check out this place & in fact today I just walked in spontaneously to use their washroom & staff were kind to allow me, but the ambiance & vibe was sooooo goooood that I decided to have a brunch & there was one spot available at the counter, it was a full house so I was lucky! Amazing food, beautiful decor, super clean & organised, great staff, & above all passionate & super friendly owners, Elana & her sister run the place as third generation owners. You can feel the love in the air at Beautys, everything about this place is truly BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! ....for sure I'll be back soon😎

While they do a decent job with eggs & potatoes, it seems like most of their menu items are something you could easily whip up at home. If you do decide to give it a try, the Mish Mash & Beauty's special are standout options. The reasonable pricing & manageable weekend lineup make it a place you might consider revisiting. Overall, it's not a culinary revelation, but it's a reasonable choice for a meal out.
Ne gaspillez pas votre temps à attendre en file. La nourriture est très ordinaire qu'on vous charge à gros prix. J'ai commandé le bagel Beauty Special. Il y avait exactement une MINI tranche de saumon fumé garni de trois tranches de tomate sur un bagel accompagné d'un peu de fromage à la crème il n'y avait ni fruits ni rien d'autres qui accompagnait ce plat. Le coût 12.50$ & le café n'est même pas compris. Ma copine a commandé le même plat & son bagel était trop grillé & elle a du demander de lui donner un autre bagel. Le restaurant est dans un vieux décors pas rénové depuis plusieurs décennies & la toilette était sale. Allez dans un resto vous en aurez plus pour votre argent & vous en gagnerez du temps
J'espère que c'était bien meilleur avant pour que Beauty's puisse se mériter ce statut de quasi-institution & ces longues files. Rien de mauvais, mais nous aurions pu éviter l'attente & payer moins cher en allant à n'importe quel petit casse-croute de quartier (ou aux alentours d'une usine en semaine). Seul avantage: les bagels, quoi que ça ne leur est sûrement pas exclusif.
