Came here for the late night menu special for 29$. We tried the beef tartare, the duck & the gnocchi. They were all delicious & flavorful. Definitely worth the price.
The ambiance is nice & cozy. The staff was friendly as well.View more
The braised beef was pretty good but the Butcher's cut steak was extremely bland, unseasoned, & very very fatty (1/4 of the steak was not edible). The mash potato that came with the steak was also very bland I couldnt finish it. The braised beef's sauce saved me tho I had to dip the steak in there cause it tasted like nothing for $75. Service was okay when we came in we werent greeted & had to wait for a while even though we had reservations. Service felt really rushed. Atmosphere was nice & cozy :) overall experience was okay, definitely not worth the pricetagView more
Full 5 star experience. Everything from the food, service & restaurant vibe was perfect. The BBQ oysters did not disappoint. My only regret was not ordering 6 more. The farm salad was very flavourful but also fresh. Their braised beef (signature meal) was excellent. (If you don't love celery then I'd say choose something else since their potato purée does have a strong celery taste to it) Waitress was very knowledgeable, showed confidence in the menu & also caught on that it was a special occasion so she brought out a sparkler. Last but not least - drinks were also made to perfection. Paid parking lot 10 steps away from the resto came in handy. Can't wait to be back - specifically for the BBQ oysters.View more
This place is perfection in every way. It was completely full & so busy but our server never seemed flustered or rushed in any way. She was lovely, provided impeccable service & never missed an opportunity to pour our wine. The food was top notch. I had the beef tartare & poached halibut & my husband had the chicken liver parfait & braised beef. Every bite was amazing. Such a memorable meal in a beautiful setting. You definitely need a reservation & rightly so. Fantastic all round.View more
Felt like I was in the holiday movie. About 10 tables, warm, cozy. Amazing service & food was to die for. Bbq oysters, the braised beef was insane & the olive oil cake!!!View more
Visiting Barroco in Old Montreal was an unforgettable experience, especially thanks to their phenomenal Beef Shortribs, which was hands-down the best meal of my life. We opted for the Menu du Chef, & every dish was a delightful surprise, masterfully prepared & bursting with flavors. The ambiance of the restaurant offers a cozy yet elegant backdrop perfect for a special evening, complemented by staff who are both attentive & welcoming, making you feel right at home. Everything about Barroco was perfect, from start to finish. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to try those incredible shortribs again. If you find yourself in Old Montreal, Barroco is a must-visit spot-you won't regret it!View more
This place was amazing. I'd highly reccomend. Service & ambiance were 5 star. The beef tartare & beef short rib were were 5 out of 5. My wife got the guinea hen was very good but we both agree the the beef short rib was best.View more
Truly one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The service from the host to the captain was incredible, every need was anticipated. The food was phenomenal & would recommend the chefs tasting menu to all. The wine menu was thorough & the pairing accompanied the tasting menu perfectly. The beef short ribs are a must order dish. Can't wait to come back!View more
Was an awesome experience, servers were so nice & very helpful, very nice interior of the restaurant, love the atmosphere, food is delicious & is worth trying everything! Beef tartare was magnificent, the more changes when I walked in, love the lighting & comforting seats, having farm to table is refreshing to hear knowing the food will be fresh & yummy, from appetizers to dessert simply the best!View more
Nice location & friendly staff. Light, fruity cocktails were excellent. Heavier cocktails were not well balanced. Food was all excellent, but some dishes were better than others. Beef tartare was exceptional as was the short ribs. Oeuf mollet was surprisingly good, while mushrooms appetizer was surprisingly not good. It was hit or miss. Also was a busy night & the place seemed understaffed & a bit frantic. I would try it again to give them a second chance!View more
Beef tartare with sour sauce was delicious. Steak were soooo good! Seafood rice was a little bit too salty.View more
The service is at Barroco is good, but our food was not worth what we paid. My steak was incredibly tough, which was not an issue with how it was cooked. It was not a good quality piece of beef. My wife & I arrived when they opened & were the first or second table served. Our food was room temperature & cold when it arrived. Overall, not a great experience.View more
Everything we ate & drank was exquisite. They have a refreshing cocktail menu with unique combinations that go down very smoothly. The dinner menu was equally impressive. The brioche melted in our mouths, the octopus was grilled to perfection & the beef tartare was to die for. The beef short rib was so tender I peeled it apart with my fork. The service was a little lackluster & the music was a bit to loud making it hard for us to hear each other at times. Despite those small short comings we will most likely be back for more!View more
I guess I went in with big expectations from what I saw on the website! Appetizers : we had the ham which was basically prosciutto with 2 pieces of grilled bread & 4 tiny pieces of picked vegetables. Anchovies on bread pretty good Devilled eggs at $5 per half an egg nothing Oysters very fresh & good Main courses braised beef was very dry & liked warm at best Rib steak was good mashed potato cold Overall it was ok but nothing special We still had a nice eveningView more
**"Five-Star Feast at Barroco: A Symphony of Flavors in Montreal"**
🍷 Last night, my better half & I embarked on a gastronomic odyssey at Barroco, a gem nestled in the heart of Montreal. Celebrating her birthday, we sought something extraordinary &, oh boy, did Barroco deliver with a capital 'B'!
Enveloped in an aura of romantic lighting & the classic elegance of white tablecloths, Barroco's ambiance whispered 'chic' in every corner. It was like stepping into a scene from an old Hollywood movie, minus the black-&-white filter & plus some seriously good food.
The adventure began with their six-course tasting menu, a culinary carousel that had us spinning with delight. Priced at CAD 85 per person with an additional CAD 60 for the wine pairing, it was a bargain for a ticket to flavor town.
First off, the deviled eggs with bottarga set the stage – a playful twist on a classic, much like the restaurant itself. Then, the roasted wild mushrooms arrived, bathed in mushroom & black garlic jus, paired with a Petit Chablis that danced on the palate.
The grilled octopus was a sea-sational journey, with steamed fingerling potatoes & paprika, accompanied by a glass of Alsace Riesling that sang harmonies with each bite. Then came the showstopper, the Paella Barroco, a mosaic of seafood & chorizo, each spoonful a mini fiesta, perfectly matched with a Spätburgunder.
But hold your forks! The beef short ribs – oh, those ribs! Boneless, tender, & glazed with maple & aged balsamic, they were like a meaty lullaby, paired with a robust Dao Reserva.
Finally, the sweet clover semifreddo with confit apple landed softly on our taste buds, a sweet ending to a fabulous meal, with a Gailloc Doux whispering a gentle goodnight.
Barroco's commitment to tradition – serving ladies first – added a touch of chivalry to the experience. The 5 to 10-minute interlude between courses was a thoughtful touch, allowing flavors to linger & conversations to bloom.
In summary, Barroco is not just a meal; it's a culinary sonnet, a love letter to the art of dining. Happy birthday to my wife, & cheers to Barroco for a night to remember! 🎉👩❤️👨🎂

Delightful place with great food & exceptional staff. Wonderful place for a date. You'd be challenged to find a better beef short rib or duck breast anywhere.
A great Birthday in a great room with terrific food. The beef short rib was special. The rack of lamb was disappointing but the drinks & appetizers superb.
We didn’t have a reservation so we got a table outside which was rather cozy & cute . As appetizers we ordered the Burrata & the octopus which were ok . We felt that the raspberry vinaigrette didn’t really work with the burrata & the octopus was a bit overcooked. However as a main course we ordered the beef short ribs & a glass of red wine both were delicious & worked very well together . For dessert we got the millefeuille which was also pretty good . Service was good & friendly .View more
Best meal we had in Montreal. Best Burrata I've ever eaten. The beef wellington was out of this world. The smaller oysters were delicious & very special!
Had beef wellington for the first time here & it was unreal. Great food & atmosphere!
Nice, cozy restaurant with European ambiance. We went for European food with Spanish influence. But, menu is mostly French cuisine. Not that much variety in the menu. One fish item, no lamb, mostly beef, with limited appetizers. Good wine menu though.
