Brought some friends to town, to show them a good time. Bar Dominion was one of our highlights! The bartenders & their cocktails were top drawer. Real professionals! & they helped initiate conversations between groups of guests. We actually met up with the same people who were seated next to us, the next night! I used to love the Old Dominion, but I would say Bar Dominion is even better! Great work. Thanks so much.
Bar Dominion was recommended by a local bar tender & the restaurant did not disappoint. We came on a Tuesday night but the atmosphere was lively & the food / drinks were on point. The ribs were great.

Le bar est beau, avec une patine d'autrefois qui lui confère un charme évident. Mais le comportement du personnel, ouvertement âpre au gain, manque de finesse & est invraisemblable : on demande un conseil pour une bière ou un vin, le serveur insiste par trois fois sur le plus cher de la carte. Une entrée délicieuse de jambon & manchego est servie sans pain. Le serveur nous propose de commander de la foccacia pour 7$. On s'attend à mieux en termes de prestations dans un bar qui a des prétentions. Les factures arrivent. L'un de nous, qui a une facture de 24$, donne 30$ au serveur en espèces. Toujours ce même serveur demande si c'est complet. Le client est obligé de dire qu'il attend qu'on lui rende la monnaie. Il laisse ensuite 4$ (donc 16%) au serveur qui ne le remercie même pas. Franchement, c'est décevant. L'établissement donne l'impression d'une certaine classe, puis le personnel est ouvertement obsédé par l'argent. Un peu de classe, Messieurs!
Very impressed with every aspect of my two experiences at Bar Dominion. Lunch with friends, then a few days later a late night dinner & cocktails. Service was warm & welcoming. The food well above expectation & an atmosphere that made for easy enjoyment. I was surprised the place was not busier given how well guests are taken car of. I would call Bar Dominion a must visit day or night.
It used to be my playground, soooo happy it's back! The English private club style decor is still intact. Absolute must do in Montreal! Perfect place to have a drink with dr ends or a date 🥂 perfect before or after show at the Bell center. Great drinks, food to share or main meals, good selection & prices. Sitting at the bar promises a great night ahead. Still they kept the big banquette at the rear. The music could be less loud. I love it & will come back as I used to for sure! Oysters at 1$ everyday before 6pm!

I celebrated my wedding shower at Bar dominion & had the most amazing experience. The staff were so kind & attentive, the food was absolutely delicious & the ambiance was perfect (amazing music). I'll be coming back for dinner & cocktails soon!
This historic bar/bistro has thankfully reopened after a pandemic induced shutdown. The menu is excellent, the food succulent, with an incredible ambiance reminiscent of 1920s Montréal. A stone's throw from the downtown SIMONS store, it is an absolute must for the traveller. ||| Ce bar/bistro historique a heureusement rouvert après une fermeture provoquée par une pandémie. Le menu est excellent, la nourriture succulente, le tout assorti d'une ambiance qui évoque le Montréal des années 1920. À deux pas du magasin SIMONS du centre-ville, c'est un incontournable pour le voyageur.

Un resto que j'aimais transformé en bar N'y allez pas avec l'intention d'être assis & manger tranquillement, vous serez déçus. Belle déco, endroit plutôt adapté pour y prendre un verre sans trop s'éterniser. Bons petits plats & bons cocktails. L'endroit est cependant un tout petit peu froid si vous y allez tôt en soirée. Faut y être quand la faune débarque ! Plus cool !!
Le Bar Dominion est un endroit exceptionnelle! Lorsque je suis au centre-ville, c'est certain que je dois passer prendre un verre & déguster leur délicieux tapas! L'ambiance est agréable & le staff est très attentif. Je le recommande sans hésitation!

2024: Bar Dominion: decor is classic. Music was a weird mix of reggae & disco. Doesn't really have the same classy Brit vibe as before at all. The Martingale was a mediocre overpriced cocktail. My sister enjoyed her tuxedo martini but it wasn't something I would get. No effort into drink presentation. Service was polite but not particularly attentive. Left after one drink. 2019: Dominion Square Tavern (5 stars): Always great service, strong cocktails, gorgeous decor.

I'm just so happy someone has decided to reopen that place. Before the pandemic this was one of my favourite restaurants in Montreal, it had a European brasserie vibe with a Montreal touch. This was my second visit since it reopened (with the previous place I would come once or twice per month). As of today it's a bar with a bit (of good) food to snack on. They have changed the old tables & chairs with modern black high tables & stools. The rest is the exact same & it's fantastic they have kept all of that. This said I liked more the old tables & chairs, the new ones don't fit as well with the place & are less comfortable . The cocktails are very good, but a bit on the pricey side. The food is very good too, the devil eggs are delicious! & the service is also very good, welcoming & smiling. All in all a great experience, I will definitely go again & recommend it but I wish they would evolve into a restaurant & similar to what it was before. You don't need to reinvent the wheel, or try to be too fancy & modern, you would be great as a tavern with simple but affordable good food & drinks !
Came here for a date night at 9 pm. The decor & lighting give it a warm vibe, but the music is really loud & everyone was shouting. The acoustics in the bar aren't great & the sound felt a bit raw. For me, it was a bit too overwhelming as it was difficult to have a conversation. The food was excellent quality, but would have appreciated the portion sizes to be a bit larger for the price. We got the pétoncles, salmon tartare, oysters ($1 each), & ordered a jambon with cheese as we were still hungry. I'd go back, but not for an intimate date night.
Loved this when it was Dominion Square Tavern, so I had high expectations when it reopened. I was not disappointed. The food & drinks were excellent! Definitely get the extra ciabatta bread with the queso... Pure heaven! I do wish they would turn down the music a little bit-I was sitting at the bar & could barely hear my partner who was right next to me. But overall great time!
In town for Rangers-Canadiens, & we pre-gamed at the bar with some oysters, shrimp cocktail, parmesan fries, & stiff drinks. Excellent all-around. Hope to be back for the next game!
