Bar Caffettiera is hands down one of the best coffee spots in Montreal. The atmosphere captures the authentic feel of an Italian espresso bar, simple, lively, & welcoming. The espresso is outstanding, the cappuccino is perfectly balanced, & the pastries & focaccia are fresh & absolutely delicious.
What makes this place special is the attention to detail & genuine hospitality. You can tell they're passionate about serving high quality coffee the traditional Italian way. Whether you're grabbing a quick espresso or enjoying a relaxed morning, every visit is a great experience.
If you're looking for an authentic taste of Italy in Montreal, Bar Caffettiera is a must visit. I'll definitely be back!
We came back on a beautiful sunny Sunday & once again loved everything about this place. It truly feels like stepping into an authentic Italian café-right down to the imported products & the atmosphere all the staff is great. Even though it was very busy, everything still felt smooth & welcoming.
What really stood out again was the service from Michael. He goes above & beyond in a way that is so completely natural. He was exceptional. Despite the rush, he's friendly, attentive & genuinely cares that you enjoy you're time there. He took the time to offer thoughtful suggestions, & every recommendation was spot on.
What impressed me most is how natural it all felt, attentive without being overbearing, friendly without being forced. He has a way of making you feel genuinely taken care of, which is rare, especially in such a busy setting.
Great café, incredible products-but service like Michael's is what makes the experience memorable. We'll absolutely be back. Thanks again Michael!
Naja. Siehe Foto. Latte Art klappt nicht immer. Abgesehen davon Geschmack bitter. Espresso stand eine Weile rum, bevor der Barista Zeit fand, die Milch zu applizieren… man kann schon hingehen, eine Erleuchtung ist es nicht.
Straight out of 1990s Milan, everything from the drinks (w very strict rules) to the display of snacks & bottled drinks to the excellent Italian sandwiches & teal & pink color scheme. Love the macchiato, granita latte & anything with mortadella. Also, check out their EXCELLENT uniforms that make it look like a football team is working behind the counter. I love this attention to detail!! If you stay long enough, you will see waves of euro guys come in & out of this cafe with their espresso hydration breaks. The best!!
I stumbled upon Bar Caffettiera while walking through the neighborhood & decided to stop for a quick espresso. The atmosphere is incredibly authentic & reminded me of the cafes I visited while traveling in Italy years ago. The staff was attentive without being overbearing & the quality of the coffee was superior to most places in the area. I will definitely be coming back here to work on my laptop for a few hours next week.
Honestly one of the better cafes I have been to in quite a while. It has that classic old school vibe that is hard to find nowadays. I ordered a latte & a pastry & both were fresh & tasted like they were made with care. It is not overly loud inside so it is a good place to hold a conversation or just read a book in peace. It is refreshing to visit a place that focuses on the basics & gets them exactly right every single time.
I visited this establishment once for a take-out latte. The second time I visited was on May 13th, 2026, & I ordered a coffee to enjoy at a table. Once seated, I saw a sign for no laptop use. I asked the barista why that was, & he said the owner prefers people to socialize & mingle. I looked around & saw everyone there on their phones, lol. I sat back down & opened my laptop because I needed to read a document. A person stood around my table; he may have been taking photos without my authorization. When he sat down, I'mingled', lol. I explained the rule against laptops, & I found it a bit unusual. I said I had to read something for an exam, he commented that it's a noisy place to study, I replied that it's exactly what I needed & why I came to this cafe - my prerogative to be in a noisy environment- judge me if you like. Then another barista came to my table, placed the cash I had paid for the coffee on it, & said that if I wanted wifi & a laptop, I should go elsewhere. Wow, what is happening to my favourite people on earth for hospitality - Italians-? I didn't need or ask for Wi-Fi. I simply needed to access a document, which for me was easier on a laptop than on a phone. I drank my coffee - when I finished, I placed my coffee cup upside down on its saucer (the meaning of which was lost on them) & didn't pick up the money the barista was implying was a refund of some sort. How does a $6.00 refund make up for the classless behaviour? & the lack of tolerance? As if I were going to park myself there all day with nothing else to do, which I assumed was the real reason for the no-laptop rule. I didn't need Wi-Fi or an electrical outlet. How dare you be so intolerant & assume my motivation? If the staff had been patient for 15 minutes, they would have noticed that when I finished my coffee, I would have left. Instead, they assumed & made my experience very unpleasant. If the person next to me was in fact the owner, he was not forthcoming with this- hello, transparency, anyone. I left, & they picked up the cash I left behind- as if that is to make up for the bad experience- shame on you for your lack of tolerance, transparency & assuming customer behaviour- this is a fail!
One of my fav spots! Def recommend their Granita latte!
Can get crowded & a bit pricey but worth it!
As a tourist who was looking for a really good coffee..... I came here twice today! It was the best coffee I think I've ever had. It was a perfect latte, not burning hot & delicious!!!! Highly recommend.
