Visited from out of town. Best meal our party has had so far. Excellent & amazing food, service, & staff!
You guys are really my favorite restaurant, in the world! The service was perfect. The server was bilingual. The food was rich & delicious as it was supposed to be ! I finally tried the "duck in a can" & it was exquisite. The can is sitting in my kitchen right now as a reminder of an awesome culinary experience. I will definitely come back again, & again... Thank you.
We have wanted to go here for over six years. We finally went & we were more than pleased! Everything was superb & memorable! The staff was kind, knowledgeable & attentive without being overly attentive. Our waiter who suggested dessert was exceptional! When he suggested a dessert that reminded him of his childhood as typical Québécois food that his mother made, that was all I needed to hear! I wish I got his name, he deserves special recognition!
I've had 2 great meals at Au Pied. This one was a little disappointing. We were told there was a mishap in the kitchen & a batch of tomato pies had to be redone. This lead to a delay in our meal coming which wasn't an issue. The issue was we think the rest of the order sat while the tart was redone so the fois gras frites were cold & had to be returned & the pork shank, while delicious, was only barely warm. The duck in the can while hot was very average. I guess everyone has an off night now & then...
Accueil & services impeccable !
One of THE BEST dining experiences ever!!
Staff was friendly, helpful & very knowledgeable! Our server, Melina was a joy!
Had a 7pm reservation, left at 9:30 extremely satisfied with the overall performance of the restaurant.
The food was unparalleled in freshness & quality! Portions were sensible, but my wife & I were able to share most of the items on the menu. Price was reasonable & the time flew by as we were having such a great time.
Would absolutely recommend & will absolutely return!
Personnel très sympathique. Bonne nourriture.
Hip & lively atmosphere. Incredible food. The staff was wonderful, I sat at the bar solo & had a lovely time getting recommendations while chatting. I had the Duck in a Can & a delicious Pear liquor apertif. Will be returning to try the Pork, & parler français avec toi! Merci Beaucoup^_^
GREAT food & service. The fois are spectacular. Will visit again when I return to Montreal!
I had one of the most comforting meals of my life at the Québécois AuPied De Cochon Montreal last night.
We started with their signature appetizer: plogue à Champlain, with layers of pancake, bacon, cheese, & foie gras in a meat-&-maple demiglace. Rich & sweet enough to be dessert.
My main was their recommended house dinner, which is the most magical mac'n'cheese you'll ever eat: tubes of pasta in a creamy cheddar sauce, generously studded with bacon lardons & more foie gras. (Yes, I know how it's made. No, I don't want to discuss it.)
Even Ed's non-meat option was gorgeous & delicious: poached halibut with grilled lettuce, & beautifully presented.
For dessert, we couldn't turn down their Québécois pouding chômeur: a hearty bread pudding with yet more maple flavor.
The service was attentive & helpful, & they were lovely enough to reserve us the window table.
Just a wonderful experience.
Fabulous food & ambience! Highly recommended, you must visit if you are in Montreal!
Mixed feelings regarding Au Pied de Cochon.
While the majority of the dishes were good - the for gras nigiri were outstanding for example - there was one instance of being served their signature dish which for some reason was not the way it was supposed to be. What was supposed to be tender & soft, turned out to be be very chewy & hard to cut with the cutlery presented. The reason for the 3 star review is the way this situation was handled.
Upon inquiring with the staff on what the texture of the dish was supposed to be like, I was informed that it was supposed to be very soft & tender, which prompted me to mention that this was not the case with my order. The dish was then taken to the kitchen & returned cut for me & I was given a sharper (kitchen) knife. "I found this approach to be dismissive & rude - "here's your food pre cut, just chew harder" instead of handling the issue with some sort of understanding towards the customer. In understand that there a particular cooking process for that dish that allows for very little variation in result & therefore low chance of a poor outcome, however even then either better management of expectation & explanation can be expected from a reputable restaurant such as this one.
For transparency I have finished the dish & therefore did not ask for it to be removed from the bill, & left a passive aggressively low tip ( for which I probably should apologise as everything else was good).
At least I got my chew count above 20, so guess that's the silver lining here lol.
