I know that they are famous for their foie gras poutine (which is really tasty) but the duck temaki was phenomenal. It will change your life. The maple caramel cream was a little too sweet, but I won't knock off a star because of that. Service was impeccable
So decadent & so delicious. We love eating here, & worth the drive across the border. They always ask where we've been & why we go just to eat. They clearly have never eaten here. The staff is amicable, & the creations are tasty & while one cannot eat like this all the time, it's a worthy deviation! This time the duck in a can, the Cassoulard, so great! Leave room for dessert, however challenging LOL
A return visit for us. The Ma Po Tofu udon was a surprise & a delight. You will not be disappointed if you come here to dine esp if you love duck, duck fat, foie gras & pig trotters. We love them all.
Epic institution of Canadian food. The duck in the can was simply out of this world. Very generous portions & excellent selection of wines.
We had a very good evening, the welcome was warm, the dishes are prepared with great care,
I recommend the salad in a shaker, the duck that comes in a can, surprising but succulent, attention the portions are generous.
The service is attentive, on my receipt it is indicated the name of Mr. Hugo but we were also served by a very efficient & professional young lady, please congratulate her for us, we were table 99 on April 6. We will be back
Excellent food. Must try when visiting Montreal. Book in advance to make sure you get a spot.... Duck in a Can & Chômeur Pudding is very good! Delicious & tasty.
It's so great to have them open again! Special mention to the Maple-glazed Duck-Stuffed Donut, I could have dined on those all night!
Tellement content qu'ils aient réouvert! Mention spécial au Beigne farcie au canard & glacé à l'érable. J'aurais pu en mangé toute la soirée!
This was my first visit at Au Pied de Cochon so I was really looking forward to trying food people had been raving about for years. Unfortunately it did not live up to my expectations. I understand the food is meant to be indulgent but in this situation it is simply too much. Chicken Liver Mousse does not need to be served on deep fried pancakes. The blue cheese salad does not need to drenched in dressing. The duck in a can looked exciting on the surface but once the waiter opened the can it turned out disappointing. Meat was not tender, too much sauce. Potato Puree had so much cheese in it I couldn't tell if I was eating cheese or potatoes. The wine list is nice. Service is very attentive. I wouldn't say this place is a must when visiting Montreal. Very expensive & not worth the money.
Amazing service & ambience! I love when the music is just at the right temperature & the smells from the open oven were divine. The only downside was the duck from my main was really tough. My hands were sore from trying to cut through it. In general the food tasted beautiful.
Visited form BC. The staff here were amazing. Had the duck in a can & Champvallon, & scallops to start. Both of us agreed it was definitely top 5 meals we've ever had! Can't wait to come back. 10/10.
The duck in a can was raw & the server had the guts to tell me it was just a different way of cooking & that it was just "rare". It was so rare that it was chewy & I felt like an animal eating it. The medium rare portion was edible but clearly inconsistent. The potatoes in the pork dish was so burnt I couldn't spit it out fast enough. Didn't see because the restaurant was too dark to make out the food properly.
Had a mixed experience @ PDC. We were seated close to the kitchen/bar area where it was very loud (even with earplugs). This made it hard to enjoy the experience. Since the place was busy, it would have been hard to switch tables until the end of the meal so we decided not to ask. We got 4 total entrees/mains but were overall disappointed: Pork tongue was too salty & not particularly flavourful. Plogue à Champlain was good but a bit too sweet. The fish & chips was way too oily & overly battered. Overall, the highlight of the experience was the duck in a can, unique concept & interesting flavour + texture combinations. We also enjoyed our Ginette cocktail. Service & presentation was very good, no complaints. Had been looking forward to trying PDC for a while but don't think we'll return.
Had an enjoyable time at Au pied de Cochon. We were promptly seated & the staff was very nice & welcoming. We ordered the Duck in a Can, Foie Gras Poutine & Okonomiyaki & everything was delicious & amazing! Highly recommend for the great food & wonderful experience!
Food was excellent. Service was very good. Highly recommend the duck in a can & blood sausage but leave room for dessert.
Great meal! Fun vibe! Delicious food! Food is rich. Duck in can is impressive & worth the 26 minute wait. Great wine list. Foie gras pancakes were decadently killer. I will hit the gym now...
Amazing food! Get the duck in a can & you will not be disappointed! 😋😋😋
I am a long-time fan of Au Pied de Cochon & my previous dinner at the restaurant was fantastic - everything that I had hoped it would be. On this trip, I was bringing my husband to Montreal for the first time & kept raving about how good the food was here. However, it was an incredibly disappointing evening. We were not notified that we would be sitting outside when we made the reservation. There were many large hornets - I killed two, but they kept coming. There were no hornet traps or anything outside to prevent this. While the pate was good, it looked like it had been literally dumped on the plate with a glob of rhubarb compote. The famous duck in the can was really tough - we couldn't cut it until we asked for a steak knife. We let the server know & she kindly comped a dessert - however, we would have preferred that she take away the tough duck & replace it with one that was properly cooked. The broccoli & tofu was basically mushy broccoli in an oily goo of peanut butter. Maybe because we come from Vancouver where the Chinese food is exceptional, but we were really kind of surprised by how bad it was. The dessert was really good. Our server was lovely & the drinks were good. I would like to think that this lack of quality was all due to our trying times & look forward to going back on our next trip to Montreal.
Very disappointed with Paté Chinois. The duck meat was days old & very dry. I didn't get to finish it. The Marguez was too salty & oily. The 3 entrees we ordered were very good. The service was too.
The food was amazing! The Shepherd's Pie & Duck in a Can were standouts. The frites were wonderfully balanced - not too oily, with all of the flavour. Definitely a new favourite of mine & must for everyone visit!
Service was good. Food was way too salty. Duck in a can meat was tough & the fat was not well rendered
The decor included lots of plants that had allergens
Signature Montreal restaurant meal not to be missed! While Duck in a Can is the star of the show, highly recommend the foie gras nigiri. Service is always busy but they go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with every check up!
Food was phenomenal as always & service was good as well. Accommodating in changing our dinner resie inside (no option online to select patio seating) to a table on the patio. Even when the rain came & the top of our table became a river, the staff worked around to get us a table in a "less wet" area as there was no availability for us inside by this point. Highly recommend to make a resie before heading out & definitely order the duck in a can & something with fois gras in the dish!
The foie gras poutine was very good. The duck in a can is good, a bit overly salty & I think they charge extra for the novelty of it. The dessert was horrible. A berry pie that was so sour it was inedible. I tried it & my partner tried it & neither of us could eat it.
Great as always. However, the menu has dramatically been reduced. Less of the "Big Meat Dishes". Classics are still there, (Duck in A Can, La Pogue A champlain) but some great ones have vanished making your choices much more restricted.
Finally got around to try APDC.
Looking at the clientelle, it shows its one of Montreal's 'Must Visits' as the tourists & first timers seemed to outnumber the regulars.
Portions seem abit small but when combined with an entree, it ends up being quite filling.. Get ready .. the food is very rich!
Duck Breast Excellent & The Melting pot of sausages abit small & stingy on the Mashed Potatoes. but good
Big miss of the evening was the Creme Brule - a l'erable (Maple) . Top was soft & not hard & crispy.
Should have mentioned it before we inhaled it.
Overall a Great Vibe & Friendly staff Very Rich food that merits another return.
