So glad we were able to get reservations somewhat last minute, as this was our best meal in Montreal.
My 14-year old son & I had such a great time & our waiter (I forgot her name) helped us make some great choices for dinner in the Duck Temaki, Canned Duck, & Stuffed Guinnea Hen.
I can't speak to the dessert as we had no room left to enjoy it with, but will be more mindful next time.
Another bonus was they had Cantillon available, which we can't get in the US, so that was an extra welcome surprise for me.
Will undoubtedly be back again next time we are in Montreal!
In from Halifax, NS & went to Au Pied two days in & row, & both were absolutely incredible! Our server Fred had the best suggestions & wine pairings. Over two days we sampled all of the Foie Gras options, the pork chop, & the duck in a can. We will be back again for round 3 asap!
We had a great time here. Our server Melinda was lovely & attentive. The other support staffs were also great. We had the citrus scallops & oyster with soy marinated quail egg & both were phenomenal! I am glad we chose a lighter appetizer because the duck 🦆 in a can was a very rich dish. The duck was cooked to a perfection, just the right doneness. I had the cocktail Moji-Pho which helped to brightened up some of the rich flavours of the dish. In all, a great experience!
Great service, good ambiance but the food was a little too rich for my liking.
We ordered the Plogue A Champlain & Duck In A Can which were nice for the first few bites but soon became overpowering. I'd say that the dishes are better suited to a larger group & for patrons with a heavier palate.
We were visiting the restaurant for the first time. The atmosphere of the place was very lively therefore you can talk loudly with your friends without pressure. The Goat Cheese Salad & Burrata were extremely good. The Plogue A Champlain & fois Gras Mushroom were excellent.
However we were very disappointed with the Aged Pork Chop & Duck in a Can dishes since the Pork Chop & Duck meat were very stiff!
Fortunately, the staffs were very friendly which help making the night very enjoyable.
You guys are really my favorite restaurant, in the world! The service was perfect. The server was bilingual. The food was rich & delicious as it was supposed to be ! I finally tried the "duck in a can" & it was exquisite. The can is sitting in my kitchen right now as a reminder of an awesome culinary experience. I will definitely come back again, & again... Thank you.
I've had 2 great meals at Au Pied. This one was a little disappointing. We were told there was a mishap in the kitchen & a batch of tomato pies had to be redone. This lead to a delay in our meal coming which wasn't an issue. The issue was we think the rest of the order sat while the tart was redone so the fois gras frites were cold & had to be returned & the pork shank, while delicious, was only barely warm. The duck in the can while hot was very average. I guess everyone has an off night now & then...
Hip & lively atmosphere. Incredible food. The staff was wonderful, I sat at the bar solo & had a lovely time getting recommendations while chatting. I had the Duck in a Can & a delicious Pear liquor apertif. Will be returning to try the Pork, & parler français avec toi! Merci Beaucoup^_^
Our servers were extremely friendly. The food was amazing. We had aged pork chop, fish & chips & duck in a can.
The food & the service was excellent. Definitely get the duck in a can.
Great food, drinks & service but super casual at the same time, Maybe a little noisy if you were going for a romantic meal for two ! Duck in a can & the pork shanks were amazing as was the Foie gras poutine that we shared as a starte
We had friends from Vancouver, BC who raved about dinner here. We are so glad we listened & were able to get a reservation. We chose to seat at the bar as we watched the chefs meticulously prepare each plate - it was an awesome sight to see. Our server Alex was charming & funny - we enjoyed chatting with him. The food was excellent & they knocked it out with the first course - bison tartare hand roll. Our main courses did not disappoint - the aged pork chop & duck in a can. Overall, a wonderful meal & experience in Montréal. We cannot wait to go back!
Excellent food & excellent service. The Duck in a Can is to die for.
Fun atmosphere totally indulgent food. We had foix gras poutine & duck in a can. We sat at the bar & got to watch the kitchen at work. The food was all carefully prepared & was completely on point. We finished the meal & felt like we accomplished something this will be a meal remembered for a lifetime
The stuff was friendly, quick & responsive! The food was quite delicious but too greasy. & the duck I ordered was mostly unchewable. Also, during the reservation I mentioned that we come to celebrate our birthday. This fact was not paid attention to ((
Everything we had here was mindblowingly amazing! The flavours were incredible & had so many layers of flavour. It was an explosion of umami-ness. We started with the uni amuse bouche, then had the foie gras nigiri (so simple but SO good), then finished it off with the duck in a can.
Besides the food being amazing, the staff were incredibly warm & helpful! Always serving with a smile :) worth the hype! Would totally come back!
Although I usually try to go to different restaurants whenever I visit Montreal - PDC is the one that always makes the list. My faves are the foie gras nigiri, duck in a can & the maple sugar fries.
It hardly needs to be said, but the plates were insanely good (the Pork Roast is a dish from another planet, & dishes like the Nigri & Duck in a Can are pure decadence). The service, for its part, was absolutely outstanding!
The wait with a reservation was almost an hour! The service was exceedingly slow!my teens were falling asleep. They kept coming by to update us if the things they were out of or running out of during the course of our dinner & we had to keep changing what we ordered. The staff were super nice. Food was very rich! Loved the fish! No one else loved their meal or starters! Daughter mac & cheese made with cheese no one liked. Duck starter was good in a cone! Pork starter was gross the salad was delicious
The cassoulet was very rich & truly could have been for a party of four
Fish was the best thing we had
The poutine with four gras was very good
Overall we got there at 7 waited to be seated until almost 8 we finished after 10 & half my table was falling asleep & annoyed due to the long delays to get anything
First time in "Au Pied de Cochon"& YOU have to go! It's the cutest little spot with amazing food. The Duck Temakii, Plogue À Champlain, Aged Pork Chop & Duck in a Can is to die for. IT WAS FANTASTIC!! The service we received was so amazing & we will definitely be back again. They made us feel welcomed & gave us an amazing experience.
Everything was delicious! Duck tartare hand roll was amazing , Foie gras & apple tart was great ( & large ) fries were perfect & crisp & mayo was delish , trout was cooked perfect & delish , drinks were perfect & unique , wine list was holy shit big & impressive , wine was great to & duck in a can was delish but fat was not cooked enough nor was foie gras & knife needed to be sharper to cut meat but it was absolutely delicious & I hope to be back !!! I feel I Should of had the pigs feet ;)
I don't understand the hype. It was fine, but just that, & what could have otherwise been a decent dining experience was ruined by a surly waiter dripping with attitude (the rest of the wait staff, & the hostess, were very nice). We had oysters (very good), duck tartare (unusual but good, although I'm not sure I'd order it again), & we each ordered the aged pork chop. Mine had no bone, & was tough & dry. My partner's had a bone & was better. No need to go back.
We spent our first night in Montréal dining at Au Pied de Cochon & it was the perfect start to our trip! The duck temaki & duck in a can were phenomenal & the personnel were kind & accommodating. Dining here is an absolute must for any stay in Montréal.
This is a wonderful place & I recommend anyone visiting or already living in Montreal to go to. The staff are wonderful & the menu is unique. We had the infamous "Duck in a Can" & it did not disappoint.
Great food, awesome service! Fell in love with a place being an Anthony Bourdain fan. The duck in the can is to die for. Give it a try. You won't regret it. Went there twice during my trip. Duck temaki, foie gras nigiri, & canard en conserve est tres delicieux! Merci beacoup =)
Great food & service. Lively, foodie vibe. Emil made the evening- as did the poutine with foie gras & the "duck in a can!!" A place you MUST visit!!
Everything was fantastic. Balanced flavors & incredible flavor combinations made for an exceptional evening out. Very much enjoyed watching the team cook at the dining bar, & everything from our wine to our cocktails were delicious. The Duck tartare & Cod Cheek salad were the perfect start to our more decadent entrees of Canard in a Can & 30 day dry aged Pork Chop. & we couldn't come to PDC without having their Fois Poutine & Pudding Chomer. Thank you!! Tim & Sydney
As someone in hospitality, that was one of the best experiences I have had, with front of out being very attentive. & as well the food being absolutely incredible.
Mexican mule!
The Foie Poutine
Pork chop
Duck in a can!
Whole experience was magnificent
Much thanks to the team at Au Pied De Cochon! You did a fabulous job.
Service was good. Foie Gras Champlain was exceptional. Duck in a Can was just ok, I would not order it again - more of a novelty item. The Sauerkraut (pork shank), looked good & people beside us enjoyed the stew ( I can't remember the menu name). The place was very loud but I am old so... I will try the place again but a little disappointed after all the hype.
