Flavourful dishes, prepared with care, tike & attention. The only minor negative was a staff member passing with a swiffer around the ventilation outlets during meal time...View more
I'll start by saying this was the best service from a waitstaff that I've experienced. The dishes we choose were all 10/10 & I recommend you copy these items: cold tomato soup dish, scallops, tuna temaki, nigiri, halibut, saffron ice cream dessert. Writing them all out doesn't do it justice, they were all creative & perfect. I've reviewed 1000 restaurants & this place deserves 4.8+ stars. Really 5.0, but that's impossible when an establishment has 2k reviews. Thank you!View more
This was hands down the worst food we had in Montreal. In terms of food: the foie was average at best, the poutine had been sitting out (the gravy was congealed), & no dishes were well balanced. Service: Mains didn't arrive til 90min+ into the seating; our server didn't stop by for 30min & made up an excuse for the delays instead of simply apologizing. Atmosphere: We were seated right next to the register which made the entire experience chaos, & overheard the kitchen staff comment (in french) "oh this version of the dish is messed up, but this one is fine." There's so much amazing food & drink in Montreal that spending 2.5h here felt like an utter waste of time. It's sad to see a restaurant so flagrantly ride on its past success.View more
The food takes some time to arrive, but the wait is definitely worth it! The duck foie gras poutine was clearly perfected & had gravy which was not too sweet or salty. The fries were crispy, but not burnt & the foie gras was perfect when eaten together. The canned duck was also a really good & well thought of dish. It comes in a can, like the name suggests, & with bread too. When eaten together, the canned duck tastes amazing, while not being too salty. If you're thinking about ordering a lot of food, you should order about 1 dish for every 2 people, as the dishes we ordered were very, very filling (thanks to the waiter for telling us!) The service was very amazing, as well. They were always friendly, & ready to help, but never felt annoying & in your face. Finally, the space felt very cozy, small, & well laid out. This restaurant is recommended by me!View more
Where to start. The food was fantastic the service was totally outstanding, Alexandre who took care of us was the absolute best. Started out with the Beef Tounge then 4 different Foie Gras dishes including the Pouding Chomeur with Cheddar & more Foie Gras unbelievable. Can't wait to go back.View more
I recently dined at Pied de Cochon & was quite disappointed with the experience. The nigiri, which used to come with six pieces, has been reduced to four, & the tamaki was nothing special. Despite high expectations, we waited an hour & a half for our main dishes, only for the pork chop to arrive cold. Given the price, the experience was not worth it.View more
Our first visit to Au Pied de Cochon will not be our last. Despite a frantic & stressful atmosphere, the courteous staff & delicious food made it a memorable experience, reminiscent of a local Montreal pub. We had a 9 pm bar reservation, where we witnessed the sous chef & cooks skillfully prepare our Quebec fusion dishes. The wait staff ensured we were well-hydrated & comfortable, navigating us through the tight restaurant space to the discreet bathroom doors between the bars. The specialty of the day, the shrimp roll topped with melted foie gras & a sweet balsamic reduction, was incredible & our favorite dish. We hope it becomes a main menu item. We also enjoyed the foie gras nigiri, rotolo, & aged pork chop with a side of maple salted fries. While all dishes were rich, fresh, & hearty, the shrimp roll & fries stood out for us. Despite some reviews claiming Au Pied de Cochon is overrated or past its prime, we strongly recommend it to both tourists & locals for an elevated Québécois dining experience.View more
Delicious food! I was impressed by the Asian fusion dishes. I live in NYC & wanted to try Quebec cuisine. The waiter was very accommodating & patient, took his time to explain each dish & answer any questions, & graciously accommodated us in eating family style/sharing dishes for a party of 6. I would definitely come back the next time I am in Montreal.View more
This was a restaurant on my bucket list & it did not disappoint! The knowledgeable & bilingual staff helped to curate an unforgettable dining experience. We had the halibut & aged pork chop, also the special fresh burrata with caviar on house made sourdough to start. If you're in Montreal, this place is a must see! If you're at all culinary inclined, sit at the bar to watch these gorgeous dishes being prepared & plated 😁View more
Wow, I can't say enough good things about this place as I was sceptical prior to going as I'm not really a fan of Duck & Frois Grois but my friends are so I went along anyways & I'm so glad I did. First off this place is extremely popular so a reservation is almost mandatory as it's always pretty busy from what I saw. The restaurant has a nice indoor & outdoor seating area with nice decor & lively atmosphere. The staff here are top notch from the kitchen to the servers they know what they're doing here. The food & drinks were phenomenal to say the least & even with me thinking I was not a fan of Duck & Frois Grois this place changed my mind. Regardless of that they had many other non Duck options on the menu even though I guess Duck is what they specialize in but all the other dishes were fantastic too. I can't remember the names of most dishes but the scallops, Frois Grois Poutine, Clay Pot Stew & this Frois Grois with Maple Syrup dish were some of the favourites. All I will say is that this is definitely a Culinary Experience you need to try at least once in your life so you can decide for yourself as I have definitely become a fan myself & will be returning here eventually when I visit Montreal in the future. Kudos to the entire team there as they are doing a fantastic job & keep up the great work. Oh & by the way the Desserts were exceptional too so make sure you save some room for that 😉View more
When you want traditional (mostly) French fare, that's the place. You can watch the chefs cooking behind the counter & get delicious dishes. Seafood tower, quenelle, guinea fowl, profiteroles. Everything is perfectly done & delicious. A bit noisy.View more
Duck in a Can was fantastic. Probably one of the best dishes I've ever had in my life, honestly. Staff was highly attentive & friendly. Was a bit loud inside but the space is small.View more
I had a fantastic solo date here on my last night in Montreal. This place has been recommended to me with fervor from another foodie friend of mine, & boy I was just enamored by the vibe of the joint, the staff & of course, the food & wine. I sat at the bar & made friends with the bartender & staff as well as the other diners sitting near me - thank you beautiful folks for the hospitality & generosity! Their menu changes regularly from what I understand, based on seasonality of ingredients. If you can order any of the dishes I had - I highly recommend. Oysters were nicely shucked & presented, with a quail egg cured yolk to garnish - this was really nice, especially with the champagne they have on the menu. I followed that with the appetizer size of their lobster rolo - this came with beautifully cooked & sauced fiddleheads & morels. Such a delight of a dish! Well balanced overall. For my mains I tried two of their foie gras dishes & you MUST order them - the foie gras nigiri & the buckwheat pancake. I've never had foie gras served like nigiri over a delicately maple seasoned portion of rice - & let me tell you, I'm still salivating over these bites. I paired with a Rhône & it was perfect. The buckwheat pancake was delightfully crispy, accompanied by maple syrup & a smoky bacon/ ham slice, & of course, a generous portion of foie gras. Delectable! I for sure will be coming back to this establishment & I'm excited for them to continue to establish themselves as a Montreal staple. Merci!View more
My husband & I randomly came across Au Pied de Cochon on our last day of Montreal & it turned out to be one of best restaurants we had ever been to. Nicholas was our server & he was so nice & helped us pick out our dinner choices as well as cocktails/wine - everything tasted incredible!!! He did such a great job explaining everything as we were a little unsure about the unique dishes. It was the perfect way to end our honeymoon experience in Canada. We will certainly remember it & hope to come back again in the future.View more
This restaurant lives up to the hype of being a culinary institution in Montreal. I got to visit this restaurant during a brief stay in the city, & from the moment I stepped in to the moment I left, the experience was very memorable. I made an reservation for my gf & I to sit at the bar, which in hindsight, was the right call because you get to sit in front of the kitchen & watch the chefs working hard & assembling all the dishes (highly recommend sitting at the bar). The staff, from the server to even the chefs, were very welcoming, accommodating, & stayed on top of our every need from beginning to end, communicating with us in English since we do not speak French, ensuring that our waters were always topped off, giving us plenty of information about every dish & drink we ordered, as well as making good recommendations that worked out for our palette. All the dishes were incredibly tasty, but especially their infamous Duck in a Can, which I now understand why it's such a classic! We had a few libations, all well prepared, & ciders. The desserts were really good too! All in all, I am looking forward to going back one day & cannot recommend this place enough.View more
This one of my favorite restaurants in the world, & I travel 70,000 km a year. It also was Antony Bourdain's. Since then the menu has expanded to include new scallop, fish & creative Japanese dishes put always keeping the original foie gras & pig dishes that made them famous. Michael, the chef & his team greets his guests as if they were his clients for ever. The vibes, the food & the staff makes this place not to be missed. I love the place RogeView more
My fiancee & I went here for our couple's anniversary. What an amazing experience from start to finish! Service was warm & efficient, food & drinks were great & the vibe was perfect.
We were welcome right away as we sat down. It didn't take long for the waiter to come over to take our orders. I had the special cocktail which was some kind of old fashioned with foie gras & it was great. The appetizers we picked were out of this world. We had the oysters & the foie gras nigiri. For the main dishes, we chose the Mapo Tofu & the Cassoulet. It was pretty good, however not amazing. & also they should've maybe picked another name for the Mapo Tofu because it wasn't much of a mapo tofu. Nonetheless, it was still tasty. We finished off with a strawberry pie for dessert which was also delicious!
The service was top class. I believe our waiter's name was Nicolas & he came over to our table very often to make sure that everything was okay. At some point it was almost like he was reading our minds, helping us before we even had to ask. The rest of the team was also exceptional. One nice little touch that we really appreciated was that they asked if we prefered to be served in French or in English.
Overall a remarkable experience. I would definitely come back again to try other items in the menu!
Au Pied de Cochon was an amazing experience! We were lucky enough to sit at the bar across the kitchen & had the pleasure of watching the staff prepare our dishes right in front of us. It was also the same spot that Anthony Bourdain sat in when he visited, which was an added bonus. The wait staff was excellent, knowledgeable, & provided amazing recommendations over their exquisite menu. I'll never forget this night!View more

We ordered 4 dishes, they were all very good apart from the porc dish. The dish was disappointing because the porc didn't taste very much & there was A LOT of fat, nearly hald the dish was unedible (& it was 45$). Service was very good. I would definitely come again for all the foie gras dishes but wouldn't order the porc.View more
Amazing Quebec hearty dishes. Heavy meal that will leave you crawling away full.View more
Overall, it was an enjoyable evening & given the price, it will remain a rare experience for us. The food was very good but in some cases unnecessarily fatty. As well, the portions weren't quite as large as we were told, which turned out to be a good thing, given the richness of the dishes.
A truly special place. Everything they prepared was incredibly delicious, beautiful & served with warmth & kindness. If you can, try to reserve seats at the bar so you'll be right in the action as their hard-working chefs & team work in an impressive symphony of collaboration to bring your amazing, creative & delightful dishes. Truly worth the wait to get in & definitely deserves all of the love this place has received over the years! Thank you guys for such a memorable time & keep up the wonderful work!!View more
The aged pork chop had so much fat. The meat quality was good. Would have been better if it was all lean meat. Service was good, but there is no need to constant pour water & mop our table. I highly suggest having more options on the menu, we only had few choices for main dishes, one of our members was not a big fan of such heavy meats.
Always a wonderful experience. The food is phenomenal, as is the service. & always a special treat to be seated in front of the kitchen staff as they prepare a wide variety of dishes.
I have been to Au Pied de Cochon twice before with food & ambiance, this time their classic dishes were done right although the pork chop arrived to the table slightly warm but closer to cold...the newer dishes were very underwhelming for the price & personally did not impress me.
Excellent meal! The Duck in a Can is easily one of the most memorable dishes I've ever had in my life. The Aged Porkchop was also superb.
Aside from the fois gras dishes, everything was pretty two dimensional flavor-wise, over salted, & extremely over priced. I think this place rests heavily on its reputation, & ultimately is about as good as your average bistro in NYC or SF. The friendly waiter upsold me 25$ glasses of wine & our service deteriorated once I stopped drinking. Won't go back.

Fabulous food well worth the wait! But there was a bit of a wait with no menu when we sat down, bread arrived 45 mins in, drinks & first course almost an hour. Our waiter disappeared most of the night but the manager was working very hard all over the place for sure. But other than skipping dessert as we didn't want to wait, we had a fabulous experience & the dishes were even beyond our already high expectations.
My friend & I sat at the bar & it was like dinner & a show! We loved watching the work being done in the kitchen & the food was delicious! I'm not a big foie gras person, but I enjoyed all the dishes we ordered that had them. The dishes were all unique & the flavors went well together. I loved the mapo tofu udon dish. The flavors were unexpected & would have tasted great even without the foie gras.
