Pancakes. Wow. We were vsiting from Ottawa, & this place was recommended by friends. Apparently, this is the only location that takes reservations. The other location always has a long line-up (I would like up for the pancakes!). My sister had their shakshuka, & she said it was the best she ever tasted. The atmosphere had a great vibe. Our waitress was friendly, & very attentive to our needs. Highly recommend for brunch!

Good food. Excellent service. My eggs were done perfectly, & Arthur's has the best grilled salami in the city. The challah roll & latke were equally tasty. The only reason not to give the restaurant 5 stars is the very bad coffee. It was weak &, at best, lukewarm. My friend & I asked for our cups to be replaced, but the 2nd cups were no warmer. This is a major flaw considering that breakfast/brunch items are a specialty of Arthur's. Also, my friend was bothered by the fact that a fork that had fallen on the floor a few paces from us was not picked up. by anyone. After a half hour or so he stood up & picked it up himself
Our first time at the Cathcart location, it's right below my office so the convenience is nice! We typically visit the original location but didnt feel like waiting 1.5hrs in the cold which is why we appreciated the ability to be able to make a reso at this location! Our female asian server was good, she didnt have time to return to take our drink orders which was unfortunate b/c we had intended to order cocktails (missed opportunity to upsell). Eventually, we were able to order 1 hot coffee, I would skip this drink if possible. Food was consistent & the eager service from 2 support staff to provide us a take out box was noticed! The male server who came to process our payment was the real unsung hero, he took the time to chat with us & let us know that the Cathcart location will be open on Saturdays & they intend to launch a new brunch menu items specific to their location, which was welcome news to us since we live in Griffintown & within walking distance! He was wonderful & made us feel valued & welcome. Were excited to return on a future Saturday to try the new brunch items, thanks!

My friend & I went for brunch on a Saturday & were delighted with the special brunch menu item options! We were talking about how we would love to see Saturday brunch be a permanent edition as it's easier to go on the weekends! Pros: the food was very good, especially the pancake. The space is nice & I like that we can make a reservation for brunch. Con: from the moment I arrived it was off to a bad start. When I arrived, there was a lady, I assumed the hostess, standing at the door & looking down at something. Not once did she look up to greet me or acknowledge my presence in any way. It wasn't until a guy came from the other end of the restaurant, walked toward me & greeted me. He looked down exactly where the lady was looking & then walked me to my table. Not sure what the lady was doing, but a simple "Hi, just a moment" would have been sufficient. Soon after I was seated, the waiter greeted me & brought some water, which is good. My friends came soon after that, & by the time they settled in & looked at the menu, it was a while before the waiter came to see us. We actually had to call him to our table. At this point, the restaurant was not so crowded, so not sure why it took so long. We had questions about the menu - it was our first time. After a few back & forth, we finally placed our order, & that's when the waiting game really began. While we waited, two groups arrived & were seated at the tables in the same row as ours. Some time went by before we received the order of pancakes & one of my friends received their plate. We assumed the other two plates would arrive momentarily. But they did not. In fact, one of the tables that arrived after us got their order before us. At that point, we called the waiter to ask how much longer we would have to wait. He went to the kitchen to check & came back to inform us that a mistake was made. He apologised & offered us mimosas & dessert on the house. We were grateful, but the fact remained that were hungry & had been waiting a while for our dishes. Overall, although I am curious to try the other items on the menu, I will definitely think twice before coming back.
