*EDIT*
After such a positive experience at Arthur's, I made a point to take my mom in her short visit to the city. Unfortunately, we were mostly disappointed by the experience!
The smorgasboard (which I ordered on my first visit) was still amazing. However, the syrniki (cottage cheese pancakes), although tasty, could really use some fruits to make it less heavy. We asked our waitress about this & she said they only add fruits when they're in season… it's mid-May & a quick walk to Atwater Market or even Super C will show you a wide variety of fruits.
Most importantly, however, was the disappointing customer service.
When we asked the waiter who sat us at our table if they had a washroom, he sarcastically said'obviously, we're a restaurant.' Yes, I know you have a washroom, it was a polite way I found to ask a question in a language that isn't my first. It's not a major issue, but it sets the wrong tone for customer service (as someone who's worked in the industry).
Further, the waitress who took care of our table was always rushing us, & it seemed like she avoided eye contact so she wouldn't see us when we asked for something. I was so confused by this, as I received much better service a couple of months ago, on a Sunday, when the restaurant was packed - on my visit with my mom, it was about half full, so not like the waiters needed to run around.
While we enjoyed the food, I was sad that the service was so poor in comparison to my wonderful past experience.

Wow, I'm amazed at how good the food here was! My friend & I shared a smorgasbord (we added avocado, bread, & scrambled eggs to make sure it was filling for both) & were so impressed by how good it was! The scrambled eggs were absolutely divine. Not sure how they managed to make something as simple as scrambled eggs taste as good as it did, but alas!
The space is lovely & well-decorated & the staff were very friendly! The only thing I'll say is that it gets rather crowded, we had to wait a bit over an hour to get a bar seats, so make sure to plan ahead.
As of drinks, we got an iced vanilla latte & a London fog - both were fine, nothing really special. The food truly is the highlight!
Great brunch options. Staff very attentive & nice. Super crowded during weekends, hard to get a place outside. Music is way too loud.
On a Sunday morning Very disappointing experience with the hostess. She was rude, dismissive, & seemed to ignore customers waiting in line. I asked several times to be added to the waiting list, but she avoided giving clear answers about the order of the queue or who was ahead of us.
The interaction felt disrespectful & unwelcoming. As someone with a Russian accent, I unfortunately felt singled out or treated differently, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. I hope management addresses customer service & communication issues.
Simply put the best breakfast I've ever had. The salmon was delicious, the eggs done perfectly, crispy latke, & I don't know how they make these pancakes but they're far & away the best I've ever had. Put this place on your list, & go!
Excellent value for the quality. While many upscale restaurants charge significantly more, this place delivers better. The menu is consistently strong-I've sampled half of it over the years & haven't had a single disappointing dish. Yes, it's pricey, but the quality of the food justifies every dollar.
Great brunch place. It can be quite hard to get a table with long wait times. That said, it is well worth it. The pancakes are really good!
The service was good. The people are so polite. The only bad experience I had is the food . It was not good at all for what I was expecting. I paid 50$ for one slice of French toast, half an avocado & two omelette which was very very disappointing.
J'ai commandé des pancakes normaux mais la serveuse s'est trompée & m'a mis des pancakes à la banane (bien sûr avec le prix aussi 😅)
Ça va qu'ils étaient très bons & copieux mais -1* tout de même.
Service rapide.
Endroit agréable.
Arthur's Nosh Bar is a really good brunch spot in Montreal. What we like most is the cottage cheese pancakes & the fried eggs, everything is super flavorful & well done.
They don't have an espresso machine, but that doesn't bother us since we actually prefer filter coffee.
Overall, it's an excellent spot for breakfast or brunch in the city. Just keep in mind they don't take reservations, so you usually have to wait a bit, especially on weekends.
