The food is absolutely fantastic. The menu is impressive - every category of food you could want is somehow on there - but nothing feels random. You can tell it's well thought out: every dish has a creative twist & yet it stays true to the Mediterranean roots. Everything we tried was genuinely tasty. If you like a menu that's fun to explore & doesn't play it safe, you'll love this spot.
This is written in the context of Amalia charging on the pricier end for a middle class restaurant. There were 3 of us, 2 shared the mixed grill & 1 had the branzini.
The service was poor: I had to ask the waiter to remove the cap from my bottle of beer so I could drink it. Our food was not brought out at the same time & one of us had to wait several minutes after the other 2 were already served. When the final meal was brought out, the waiter unceremoniously dumped the plate in front of the person & ran off - no'Is there anything else you need','Can I get you another drink', etc. I would have loved another drink, but that was not to be. Water glasses were small, & these also were not refilled. We ordered roast potatoes & were served fries.
Food was mediocre. The beef in the mixed grill was full of sinew & difficult to eat. The fish was overcooked & dry. Fish was served on puree of vegetable, which to me is a cheap restaurant way of using up old vegetables. The only other accompaniment with the fish were 4 very thin asparagus spears - under the category of why bother. We had the croquette appetizer, which was also poor quality with little taste & the consistency of raw potato.
Seating & noise level were okay. I won't be returning & won't recommend it to friends.
Went here with my boys & had a night to remember. Food was on point, great drinks & shoutout to Lia. Great service, great experience all in all. Will be back
I have to say that it was my first time eating at this restaurant & the best part of it was our waitress Lia. Beautiful smile, she was a ray a sunshine. Always making sure we were okay & had everything we needed.
The food was amazing too.
Thank you Lia for your excellent service during you made our night 🤍
Amazing experience: the food is great, the atmosphere is great but most of all, Lia made the experience exceptional. She was kind, welcoming, always made sure our glasses were full, let us know about everything on the menu beforehand, & made GREAT cocktails.
We came to Amalia for a family dinner. Initial impressions were good but didn't last long. Everything was extremely slow. Surprisingly there was only one person working front of house & one chef for a Sunday evening. It took around 1.5 hours to receive the main course. The food itself was extremely underwhelming for the price that you're paying & the simplicity of what it is. Very under seasoned, bland & just overall not what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. We ordered a variety of food, the lack of seasoning & flavour carried across all of the dishes. Best thing we got was the fries. All in all this restaurant is extremely over priced with the total bill before tip being 500$ for 5 people. I would not recommend this restaurant.
