The steak was beautifully cooked-tender, juicy, & flavorful. The oyster mushrooms were exceptional, & even the mashed potatoes & fries were impressively delicious. A place well worth recommending.
Just left the restaurant & I wish I was back already. Made a late reservation & when we showed up 2 men were making the tables. I asked if they were open & they said of course & seated us right away. Service was 10 outta 10. So friendly & accommodating. This was the best steak I've ever had. Got the 28 Oz porterhouse & at 115, it's such a steal. Ordered medium temperature & it was cooked so well. Steak was beyond tender, & the dry age provided such a beefy flavor bomb. The charred edges was the stuff of gold. As were were paying, it turns out the 2 men were the owners & I believe head chef (could be wrong). They were the only 2 in the restaurant & are the ones who prepared our food. They saw that we were out of town & said they couldn't turn us away. If that doesn't speak to the integrity of this restaurant I don't know what would. The frites & Monte Cristo potato were also phenomenal. I'd drive back to Montreal just to eat here. Please make sure you take a chance at this place

A very good dining experience. The restaurant has a good ambiance & the decor is outstanding. The service was very good. We each started off with a Caesar salad which was good. They give so much salad I would share the next time I eat there. I had an 18 oz steak which cost a very reasonable $60. I was expecting them to skimp on the size but it came as advertised. The steak was tender, well marbled & tasted very good. It even came with a free side of pepper sauce which was not hot enough but tasty. My wife had a salmon fillet which she said was excellent. The only disappointment was the Monte Carlo potato. It was basically a potato skin filled with overly whipped mashed potatoes & a slice of cheddar cheese melted on top. Tasteless & no way near the gold standard set by Moishes. Try the fries instead.
I called Fri night requesting if I needed a reservation. The man who answered the phone answered « OH YES ». Got there at 7:00 prime time, he LIED, restaurant was empty except for 1 other table. The man was the only employee on the floor. Answered phone, maître D, server, busboy, etc. I switched my side of Monte Carlo potato to French fries. My son didn't want a side. He brought 2 Monte Carlo potatoes & my FF. he blamed it on me for changing my order & mixing him up. Slap in my face. Force sale was my take. Did his best to serve us as two other smaller tables arrived. He darted in & out to us, spoke rapidly & walked away promptly. Was not sincere but an obligation. Stressing as he had to attend to others. Shame food is good & atmosphere fine. Business must be hard Ashe can't afford to hire a second worker on a Friday night ! Not the way to operate a business.
I am confused by all the five star reviews. Overall this place was an overpriced disappointment. The good? The warm bread, the caesar salad, & the fries were all fantastic, & the servers were kind & trying hard even though they lacked polish. Interior was also lovely & comfortable. The bad? The porterhouse was tough & flavourless, & receiving one piece of broccoli & HALF a carrot on the side was… laughable I guess? The ugly? Overcooked & even burnt steak, & a burnt monte carlo potato were unforgivable from a high end steakhouse imo. The owners have a lot of work to do if they want to attract repeat customers. I hope they can.
I ordered the filet mignon with fries, & a chocolate cake with ice cream for dessert. They started me off with some bread. Fresh & hot. Crunchy crust & soft on the inside. My filet mignon was done exactly how I liked it, which was a treat. A lot of chefs cook it "their way", but they listened to me & did it the way I like. I definitely recommend dipping it in the peppercorn sauce. Changes the flavor in a nice way. The fries were crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. It had that perfect amount of crunch with each bite. Would highly recommend. The chocolate cake with ice cream was the perfect end to a meal. Sweet & tasty without being overly sweet or overwhelming of the senses. I know many might say it's too expensive, but the quality makes the price worth it. The owner & his wife were a delight. Very friendly & listened to me. My only complaint is that I would love to be able to eat here more often.
