Yokato Yokabai is a premier destination for authentic Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen. Known for its rich, creamy pork bone broth simmered for hours and prepared entirely without MSG, this cozy eatery offers a true taste of Japan. With house-made noodles, highly customizable bowls, and savory sides like their famous karaage, it delivers an uncompromising and traditional ramen experience.
Patrons describe Yokato Yokabai Ramen as a cozy, authentic spot where rich tonkotsu or torikotsu broths meet chewy noodles and generous toppings, with karaage, gyoza and takoyaki seen as standouts. The atmosphere is repeatedly praised for its warm Japanese vibe, though seating is tight and the space can feel cold or noisy when crowded. Service is often friendly and attentive, but pacing and consistency vary with long waits during peak times and some missteps. A virtual waitlist helps manage crowds since reservations are not common. Many call the ramen among the best in Montreal or close to Japan, though a few note price, portion size, or occasional service gaps. The Michelin link is debated, but the overall experience is described as a top ramen destination worth visiting for a comforting, authentic bowl. The main caveats are crowding, temperature hotspots near doors, and premium pricing at peak times.
Amazing Ramen! Very tasty! Everyone loved the ramen soups , we also ordered the pork sidedish which was good, but less unanimous. Atmosphere was very cosy & interesting … we felt like the time spent there in that space, we were transported in different world than Montreal… Line Up is quite busy, but the SMS-based waitlist approach is pretty useful & works well!

An amazimg ramen that you must try when in Montreal! The service is very nice & fast, however you may need to wait a bit before outside. They have a self system where you will get am message when your table is available so you can also walk around while waiting. The price is a bit high but the food quality definetely matches with it.

I had the vegetarian broth, thin noodles (fresh), vegetables (comes with tofu), less salty, more green onion, whole egg, seaweed with a cup of tea. It was great & the portion was perfect ! So fresh tasting. It is a bit warm rather than hot so drinking tea with it gives an extra heat boost. The place is usually busy so I got there right when it opened. They seated me in a nice wooden bench area & I felt really comfortable listening to the music & chilling out. The waiter was cool, helpful & polite. I'd come back to try other options
Extremely small place that gets very loud very quickly. The food was good, but it became tiring as you kept eating as it was very heavy & one note. The staff was extremely rude, pressuring us to finish & leave, & were obviously speaking about us behind our backs. They could have simply told us the waitlist was long or that there was a time limit, we would have understood, instead of making us feel rushed. Overall, not the worst experience, but I wouldn't go back with friends.

Waiting period is long. Waiter attitude was very unwelcoming. Appetizer was nice. Food was below average (not sure why they have Michelin guide). Tables were very uncomfortable. Temperature of the restaurant was too cold. Also very expensive for what you getting. Not recommend

I had a great food experience here! There are no reservations so when you arrive you add your name to the list & get a text in about 25 minutes when your table is ready.
I ordered vegetable toppings & added chicken for $4, which was totally worth it. The portion was generous, the flavors were delicious, & the sides especially the pickled radish were excellent.
The only downside was sitting near the door, where it felt a bit cold & cramped. Still, the ramen was amazing & the service was very attentive. Highly recommend!
Delicious Ramen! One of the best I've had.
Took one star off because the service was slow- took about 45 minutes for the ramen to be served, & it wasn't served hot enough, one of the sides I ordered for the soup (fried garlic ) arrived half way through eating the dish.
