I discovered this hidden gem - the food is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy & the service is great. Cute spot not too expensive if you like Japanese food.
Yen Cuisine Japonaise used to be a real hidden gem. I loved this place & went regularly from 2021 to 2024 with great experiences every time. Unfortunately, the only two times I went in 2025, I got horribly sick afterward. It's really disappointing, especially given how consistently good it used to be. I hope this was a temporary issue, but based on my recent visits, I can't recommend it right now.
Customer service is fantasic! Food is served quickly & always fresh. It's a consistently enjoyable spot, whether you're a regular or hosting visitors from out of town - they always leave impressed.
I Loved the decoration with old Japanese magazines & the ambient is cozy & warm. The service staff are kind too. The food is good & portions medium-big.
Had foie gras with bbq eel on rice … definitely a 5 star dish, highly recommended.
A hidden gem in Montreal. The sushi is incredibly fresh & flavorful, offering great value for the price. The atmosphere is very cozy & the staff is super helpful. This is my go-to for authentic Japanese food.
It was just okay for me. Tap water in fancy bottle. My Oyakodon was warm & I had to spit out 4 pieces of tough tendon in the chicken pieces & it felt like they might've microwaved it too.
I was able to enjoy a wide variety of meats at a reasonable price, without any restrictions. The atmosphere was also very classy & clean.
A restaurant that works for every occasion - from a quick lunch to a more elevated dinner, from casual gatherings to a date night. After exploring countless Japanese restaurants across Montreal, this one stands out as a true hidden gem.
