It was my second time visiting this sushi place. Loved it as usual. I'd rate it as the top few Japanese sushi places in Montreal among those I've been to. Every dish (those shown in the pics) was yummy. We ordered a few more (Toshikoshi soba, beef rice bowl & Kizuna Hotate Maki) which we forgot to take pics. They were also really delicious!View more

I took many friends to YEN over the past two years. This time, I ordered one of their poke bowls with salmon & scallops-it was beautifully arranged, super fresh, & the balance of flavors was spot on. The rice was seasoned just right, & the sauce had enough depth without overpowering the ingredients.
What stood out to me was how calm & inviting the space felt. It's minimal but warm, with clean lines & soft lighting that make you want to slow down & actually enjoy your food. The staff were really kind too-patient with questions, & they seemed to genuinely care about making sure the bowl came out the way I liked it.View more

I've been ordering since 4 years at Yen, & I even told my friends & family about it because the food was amazing, well presented, & the ambiance really nice. 90% of the time I was happy with the service & the food.
That's until recently, I've ordered take out & was disappointed at the tiny amount of fish.
There was literally 30g of fish (3 half bites) I could barely notice it was in there). When I used to order there was a good 100-130g, enough to feel like it was a lot. Like I used to feel delighted at how it was delicious & good value. Now it felt like eating 24$ bowl of rice with veggies 😢😢 I don't know if it was the chef but I'm scared to come back if this is the new standard.View more

Awful quality sushi rice + mediocre quality fish cuts = very underwhelming
The tempura that we ordered was not even crispy (beside the shrimp, which makes us wonder if the shrimp was semi-precooked unlike the other vegetables, you can clearly see that the batter used are different)
The platting may seem nice but would not recommend.View more

This is an absolutely amazing restaurant! The ingredients are incredibly fresh, & everything we tried was exceptional. The foie gras & eel rice was absolutely delicious & so satisfying. The sashimi was unbelievably fresh with a perfect texture-simply top-notch! The salad was also very tasty & well-balanced. On top of the incredible food, the service was outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a truly delightful dining experience.View more

Very delicious Japanese food, eel rice is my favorite, sashimi is very fresh! I will come back to eat matcha cake next time! The restaurant has a great environment & beautiful decoration, with paid parking spaces on both sides of the door. After eating, the area is very suitable for walking, what a great experience!View more

I am quite disappointed with this place. I ordered foie gras & grilled eel rice bowl but got another combination with foie gras & scallop...& the napkin is dirty with very obvious brown stains. The atmosphere is kind of oppressive not relaxing. The price is okay...but I guess you will have a better option in mtl with the same price.View more

yen has been my favourite restaurant for so long for their quality. but this last visit left me kind of disappointed... my partner & i both love their foie gras & uni dons & have been ordering the same things for so long. i feel like this time, the uni portion was not represented accurately in the picture, nor was the foie gras. & the biggest let down was that the rice seemed very old & hard... almost microwaved day old rice? on a more positive note, we did enjoy the tako wasabi we ordered to share as well as the service!View more

One thing is certain, in this restaurant you get a good quality-price. The bowls are still generous too in portions but if you eat a lot you may need an appetizer. I wouldn't say it's the best sushi I ate. The rice lacked flavor, the fishes are all the cheapest cuts, etc. However, for the price I paid, this is very good. In Montreal, I'm happy about this find. I really enjoyed the ambiance too & the service was good. Overall, a good ratio for quality & price. With slightly more generous portions.View more

The taste is great,& it makes me feel very appetizing at first glance. The ingredients & dishes are also very fresh,& taste is moderately salty,& the heat is just right. I recommend the steamed egg with foie gras,it is so delicious! I can't stop eating the eel rice. Five-star recommendation!View more

Great place! I've been here twice, & I was pretty happy both times. The servers are mindful, respectful, & friendly! I did not get anything big, but the poki bowls taste great! A little bit on the pricey side, but the quantities are generous. The ingredients taste very fresh too! I ordered a Salmon classic poki bowl on my first visit & a Rainbow poki bowl the 2nd time. Service was also quite fast. I did not wait long during the two times I went to this place. (The first time was really busy, too. Overall, great restaurant. I can't say much about the other food items, but I do know their rice bowls are very good too (based on my friends' opinions)View more
