I took many friends to YEN over the past two years. This time, I ordered one of their poke bowls with salmon & scallops-it was beautifully arranged, super fresh, & the balance of flavors was spot on. The rice was seasoned just right, & the sauce had enough depth without overpowering the ingredients.
What stood out to me was how calm & inviting the space felt. It's minimal but warm, with clean lines & soft lighting that make you want to slow down & actually enjoy your food. The staff were really kind too-patient with questions, & they seemed to genuinely care about making sure the bowl came out the way I liked it.View more

Absolutely exceptional experience at YEN Cuisine Japonaise! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was calm, elegant, & inviting. The service was warm & attentive without being intrusive - a perfect balance.
The food? Simply outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented & packed with authentic Japanese flavor. The sushi was incredibly fresh, the ramen rich & flavorful, & the attention to detail in every bite was clear. You can tell they take real pride in their craft.

The food at Yen Japanese Sushi was actually quite good - fresh & nicely prepared. However, the overall experience was a bit underwhelming.
The service wasn't great: staff seemed inattentive & not very welcoming. The atmosphere was also just okay - nothing particularly special or inviting.
I might return for the sushi, but definitely hope the service improves.View more

I decided to stop by this place because it looked promising & I'm so happy I did! It's a cute tucked away sort of place that is unassuming from the outside but so cozy inside. The music was upbeat & poppy & the menu selection was fantastic. The fish is fresh & delicious. It was so good I messaged a friend about it right away. I highly recommend you try this place.View more

I recently visited a Yen cuisine restaurant, & it was an absolute delight! The food was incredibly delicious, & you could really taste the authenticity in every dish. Yen Cuisine Japonaise is such a cute spot, perfect for a date or a fun night out with friends. The vibe is super cozy with the brick wall & wooden panels, very Zen. But the real star? The food! The Sashimi Moriawase bowl was not only gorgeous but also insanely fresh & delicious. I also tried Soba noodles for the first time, & even though they were cold, the mix of black truffle mayo, tobiko, & scallops was chef's kiss! Can't wait to go back & try more dishes!View more

This is an absolutely amazing restaurant! The ingredients are incredibly fresh, & everything we tried was exceptional. The foie gras & eel rice was absolutely delicious & so satisfying. The sashimi was unbelievably fresh with a perfect texture-simply top-notch! The salad was also very tasty & well-balanced. On top of the incredible food, the service was outstanding. Very delicious Japanese food, eel rice is my favorite, sashimi is very fresh! I will come back to eat matcha cake next time! The restaurant has a great environment & beautiful decoration, with paid parking spaces on both sides of the door. I recently dined at Yen, & while my experience had its highlights, there were a few aspects that fell short of expectations. First & foremost, the food was fantastic. Each dish was meticulously prepared & bursting with flavor. From the fresh sushi to the sashimi, every bite was a testament to the chef's skill & dedication. The quality of the food alone would make me consider returning. The service was also commendable. The staff were attentive & courteous, going out of their way to help me figure out how to pay the parking fees-a gesture I greatly appreciated. Their willingness to assist with such a mundane task speaks volumes about their commitment to customer satisfaction. However, the environment left something to be desired. The noise level was quite high, largely due to the chatter from other patrons. This bustling atmosphere starkly contrasts with the serene & tranquil vibe typically associated with traditional Japanese restaurants. If you're looking for a quiet, intimate dining experience, this might not be the place for you. Another drawback was the behavior of one of the waiters. They seemed overly eager to clear the bill for the next table, which came across as somewhat pushy & detracted from the otherwise pleasant service. It wasn't a major issue, but it did leave a bit of a sour note on the overall experience. In summary, while Yen excels in food quality & generally good service, the noisy environment & the occasional pushiness of the staff might be off-putting for some. If you don't mind a lively atmosphere & are there primarily for the excellent food, it's still worth a visit.View more

Update: never coming back. This place went south. Seems like new management who doesn't care about the business. I got a stomach ache right after eating the tuna. Food USED to be so fresh & delicious. Proportion USED to be just right. So not only did they downsize, they're also giving you low quality food. Better take your money somewhere else. I went in April 2025 & noticed some difference. Came back in June, & it's just even worse. Old review: Went with friends & the food was fantasic 😍 We had the gyudon, niji chirashi, kaisen cappacio, salmon soba, foie gras salad, & some rolls but I forgot the name lol. Overall good!View more

Best Sashimi Bowl in Montreal! The Nori Barachirashi was absolutely delicious, with incredibly fresh fish. I also had the Salmon Sashimi which was amazing, with zero fishy aftertaste! The service is excellent & the atmosphere is very warm & cozy. Highly recommended!View more
