YAMA, which in Japanese means "mountain", paying homage to the restaurant's location on Rue de la Montagne, and the ancient belief that the mountain is at the heart of resources such as fresh water and necessary nutrients to well-being.
Designed with natural materials that draws inspiration from the mountainous regions explored during Chef Antonio Park's long journeys, YAMA will offer you a pan-Asian menu and cocktails designed to be sensory, elevated and special.
Yama offers a refined and vibrant dining experience with standout sushi, fresh flavors, and a polished atmosphere; the service is typically attentive and the cocktail program and breakfast are well received. Many visits praise the consistency of the food and the welcoming staff, making it a reliable choice for special meals or celebrations. Some reviews note that prices are high for the value and that service can be inconsistent or slow at times, especially during busy periods. Overall, Yama is frequently regarded as a top downtown option that can impress with its quality and ambiance, but potential guests should be prepared for premium pricing and occasional service quirks.
The atmosphere at this place is nice, but the prices are far too high for what you get. The portion sizes are disappointingly small, especially considering the food is pretty basic. It doesn't feel worth the cost.
We went here twice, as I had a spend credit through the Hilton Honors program on my Amex Platinum card. Good: we had the Omakase sushi & the lemon dessert. Both were absolutely fantastic. The fish was fresh & melt in your mouth. The lemon dessert thing was recommended from the waitress who was very sweet & gave great service. Bad: this is very expensive, I wouldn't spend money here unless I had free spend through my credit card. The breakfast was about as good as a shopping mall cafeteria. The berries on the side of my eggs Benedict had white mold growing on them.
What a treat. It is difficult to say what was better the service & team or the food. From beginning to end we were served well from Karel & of course our host Momo. We felt like kings & queens. I will be referring my network here most definitely. Thank you. The beef tartare & mushroom truffle risotto are superb!
Wow! Big thanks to Basian, Kenta & Han! The hospitality & level of service here is top notch! The sushi was incredible! We really enjoyed the salmon tacos, sashimi, rolls, everything was perfect! The chocolate & chai dessert was outstanding! Wow!😊😊😊 Han the chef hand delivered our Toro roll & was so kind. Thank you everyone for making our time in montreal so amazing!
The eggs benedict (with salmon) was delicious & couldn't resist ordering more the succeeding mornings. However, their big breakfast was mediocre as the sausage wasn't the best. I would've given the food 5 stars if they also gave more fruits, as their portions were embarrassingly small with a slice of kiwi, a few raisins cut in half & half a strawberry. The service is top notch & deserves praise.

Stopped in here for a drink & some appetizers to kill some time since it was raining a bit. Decor is beautiful, if it wasn't for the occasional asian furnishings, wouldn't have thought it was a Japanese fusion restaurant. Food & drinks were nice but nothing to rave about. Service was nice, our server was wonderful & she was very charming. I was a little annoyed that one of the staff was actively listening in on our conversation & interjecting his comments. Maybe he was trying to be personable but come on man, don't butt in on a conversation you're not invited into, especially when you're supposed to be working. Overall, very nice place. Would have liked to try dinner there, but we had reservations at another venue.
called YAMA breakfast room service at our stay at hotel. Food portion is small, & expensive! They charge $8 room service fee, & mandatory 18% tips even tho they didn't give any service! (if bringing food to room is service then it should be already counted in $8 room service fee.) $69 food ended up being charged for $110...
We went for breakfast as a credit was included in our stay at Vogue. While the breakfast was good (the French toast specifically was delicious), we personally wouldn't have chosen it if it wasn't included. There was what appeared to be 1 person serving multiple tables. Took quite some time to be acknowledged once sitting down. The restaurant was supposed to be closed at 11, & many tables were still seated close to than without having gotten their food yet, & some without even having ordered. Prices are kind of expensive for breakfast. & the restaurant was HOT! Felt like no AC.
Honestly you can get better food at any other restaurant. The manager was rude. The wait time for the food is outrageous. I would rather waste my money at a McDonalds. I really have no idea how they are still open.
Good food, friendly service, a little slow but that's what it takes to prepare quality dishes fresh. The dessert is especially memorable, maybe worth a separate trip just to try their dessert menu.
