White Heron Coffee Griffintown is described as a bright, calm, and aesthetically pleasing cafe where the matcha and latte art are frequently praised and the pastries and cakes are fresh, light, not too sweet, with standout items including strawberry shortcake, sakura matcha, and ube donuts. The space is noted as quiet and comfortable for work or reading, with generous seating and a clean, minimal decor that feels inspired by Japanese cafes and makes it easy to linger while enjoying drinks and desserts. Staff are described as friendly and attentive, and service is generally praised, though a few comments point to occasional delays during busy periods and the occasional inconsistency in beverage tuning. Many reviews mention the wide menu, the quality of desserts made on site, and the relaxing, instagrammable vibe, making it a go to spot for a treat or a study break, while some critique prices or the lack of outlets or shorter weekend hours. Overall, the cafe is portrayed as a reliable destination for quality coffee, comforting sweet bites, and a refined, comfortable atmosphere, with the place frequently recommended for its matcha and cake pairings and its ability to feel like a quiet escape in Griffintown.
Very cool café with a clean, minimal design that creates a calm & modern vibe. I tried the mango melona matcha latte, & the flavor combination was completely new to me, surprisingly refreshing & well-balanced. Definitely a unique experience that stands out from typical café menus. Highly recommended.
I'm really disappointed with my experience at White Heron Café. When I walked in, there were only two customers total (including me). I placed my things on a large table, & another girl was already seated at the other large table. As soon as I went to order, I was immediately asked to move from my table. It made me feel very uncomfortable, especially since the other customer was not asked to move & remained seated.
I didn't say anything at the time because I get anxious in situations like that, but it didn't sit right with me. I would have completely understood if a large group had come in & needed the table, but that wasn't the case.
The matcha was good, but I paid around $7-8 for a very small cup, which felt overpriced. Overall, the experience left me feeling disrespected & disappointed. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

This is my go to cafe in the area, always clean & calm. Great place to work or grab a coffee to go.
The desserts are different from any other cafe out there they go really well with a coffee.
Matcha Sakura was absolutely amazing!
i rlly loved the matcha here- prolly the best i've ever had, & this place's ambiance is rllyy good i loved it. i just hope it was a lil closer to the metro, but overall i rlly liked this cafe!!
- Very smiley & friendly staff
- They make one of the best flat whites in Montreal
- It's very clean (I noticed a member of staff clean a table immediately after a customer left)
- Lively, productive environment to get a couple of hours of work done in

Edit 2025: The taste of a resto / cafe's toilet is make or break & it looks like this one hasn't been properly cleaned in ages. 3 stars & a hard pass until cleanliness improves.
Best latte in Montreal.
They use Ethiopian beans (which I prefer) on regular & have another bean type on rotation. Very balanced taste, doesn't leave you dehydrated or heartburned. The cakes & pastries are made on the spot & are always fresh. Note that they are Japanese style, so low sugar; don't expect an American diabetes experience.
The service is very friendly & they always insist on bringing the food to the table. They have loyalty cards which is a pleasant addition for those who come here often. Coffee beans available for sale.
The café itself is light, spacious, airy & clean. A pleasant experience to sit in overall.
Visited on Saturday afternoon.
Clean & cozy place.
I love their cakes because it's light & not too sweet.
Found that the seats by the window are not so comfortable especially to eat, however, I still like the vibe of the cafe.
It's a perfect place to chat with friends over tasty drinks & desserts. Wish they open a bit longer than 4pm on weekends
Cozy cafe store with delicious cakes. Their matcha & hojicha latte are great. Their chiffon cakes are made to perfection. The texture is spongey & the cream is very light. You can also pre-order a whole cake for special events.
