Designed by the renowned Speakeasy team, the interior of Vandale Restaurant housed in a historic building, reflects the hip sensibilities of the Old Port and Griffintown. Arranged on several levels, this restaurant allows you to observe the 'Street Art' of a dozen Montreal artists. The spectacle is all at once in the hall, on the walls and in the open kitchen. Vandale receives high marks for a refined experience with food that many say is cooked to perfection, generous portions, and a crowd favorite like the lamb, while the ambience and décor deliver a stylish speakeasy vibe that keeps the room feeling lively; the drinks and cocktail program are a standout feature with artful presentations and even interactive mixology workshops in the basement that add a cool, immersive element; some notes point to occasional service hiccups such as long gaps between courses, uneven attentiveness, and a few issues around payment or ordering, though overall the staff are described as friendly and capable; the venue's originality, murals, and wine focus create a memorable setting, and the whole experience is often described as value for money, making Vandale a must-try in Old Montreal with plans to return for more dishes and drinks.
Really cute spot surprisingly not too busy when we went. The restaurant has lots of space , cool decor, & great people watching if you are seated by the window. The servers & bar tenders were great, service was perfect we both got the 5 item options (would definitely have been fine with the three as it was lots of food) & enjoyed everything. I would say the least favourite would be the arincini & the broccoli Cesar salad , not because they were bad but perhaps just less exciting flavor wise. Collectively we had the Tiki drink (very light & tasty), caipirinha (delicate, light, depth of flavour), a glass of wine, Negroni(the strawberry infusion was a delightful twist) , & an old fashioned (well balanced & came with a small fire on a plate to roast a marshmallow on which was a fun feature). Also ordered spicey naked & famous but it was waaaaaaaaaay too spicy so we sent it back & they replaced it no questions asked but be warned it is truly habanero forward lol.
The food portions were generous & timing between plates well timed to enjoy the ambience , drinks, & company. Would definitely go again :)
Food was very tasty. Small(ish) sized dishes but my date & I were both pleasantly full. Fun resto, great service, & will go back to check out the resto.
Très bons tapas, la formule 3 ou 5 plats à partager représentent un excellant rapporte qualité prix. Le resto est aussi original en terme de décoration. Les murs sont recouvert de murales psychédéliques. Avant le repas, nous avons aussi eu la chance de faire un atelier de mixologie pendant 2h dans le speakeasy au sous-sol, nous avons adoré notre expérience. C'est l'activité idéale pour une date ou un événement spécial.

Cela fait 3 ans que l'on vit à 50 mètres du Vandale, & nous n'y sommes jamais allé pensant que ça allait être cher & trop class.
Nous avons été attirés à l'intérieur par l'offre de prix sur le menu 3 services, & quelle belle surprise !
Nous avons super bien mangé, c'était copieux pour le prix. Le prix des boissons est tout à fait correct (surtout pour le quartier), déco sympa & service nickel 👌
Quel regret de ne pas y avoir été avant 🥹
The food is a bit underwhelming but for the price of 25$ for 3 course it's acceptable! Our server wasn't very attentive however the atmosphere is lovely
Overall, our night for 2 was amazing. We went on Friday April 11th from 7pm to 9h30.
Excellent: service was truly amazing (she was funny, kind, attentive), ambiance & vibes were immaculate, our gravlax entrée left us speechless, good portions for tapas style, the matcha crème brûlée wow!, cocktails are expensive (?20$) but definitely worth it, & 3 course for 25$ was a steal. Focaccia was amazing too.
Good: the main dishes lacked a little flavour… the pasta was good, but nothing that can't be whipped up at home under 30 mins.
To be improved: our main dishes took quite a long time to arrive, but understandable as it was busy & the server made sure to check up often.
Disappointed: we were left disappointed by the Asian short ribs that really lacked flavour & sauce. Mainly we were disappointed because the rice was quite undercooked.
But we left this place happy, we ate well, had great cocktails, & for 150$ in total it was worth it (tip & taxes incl.) for 2x 3 courses, 2 cocktails & a beer, foccacia & saucission extra (great portion). We'll come back :)

Belle découverte ! L'endroit est super original avec une déco qui sort de l'ordinaire & crée une belle ambiance. Le service était correct, rien à redire. Les plats étaient bons & convenables, & surtout on en ressort rassasié sans se sentir lourd, ce qui est appréciable. Le dessert au Matchaaaa j'ai adoré ! Les cocktails sont un peu chers, mais ça reste une belle adresse à tester pour l'expérience.
J'ai trouvé ce restaurant à la last minute & c'est une belle découverte! Leurs plat sont succulent, tout est bien travaillé! Groooos + pour les gnocchis maison mamamia! Le manager Théo est super convivial & accueillant merci à lui pour les petites attentions! La déco est dingue, haut plafond que j'adore, & j'ai adoré la playlist qui est la mienne personnellement! Le prix des plats est étonnant pour la qualité, en plus menu 3 services ou 5 services dispo que dire de plus! Belle carte de vin. Bref on reviendra de sûr, il faut qu'on goûte les cocktails qui ont l'air insane!
Loved my experience when we went earlier this summer. The food was honestly amazing, especially at that pricepoint! Good way to get a cool 4-5 service dinner without having to cringe at your bill at the end of the night (I don't drink booze so that also helps). Service was very slow, but the waitress was alone due to a staff not showing up & we felt really bad for her. Shit happens. Overall a great night nonetheless.
Nous y sommes allé pour MTL à table. C'était notre première fois dans ce restaurant. Le cadre est très sympa, le service vraiment efficace. La nourriture était savoureuse cependant... Les quantités étaient vraiment petites. Quel dommage d'avoir encore faim en sortant d'un menu 5 services (menu de Montréal à table). Nous retenterons peut être l'expérience mais pas dans le cadre de MTL à table.
Allez y les yeux fermés ! Nous y avons été dans le cadre de MTL à table & ce fut une magnifique découverte. La nourriture était délicieuse & le service excellent ! On reviendra avec plaisir dans ce restaurant avec cette décoration atypique.
