I was there with my family for brunch on Saturday & nothing seemed to go right.
Service: First there was the over cafienated waiter who was in your face & loud. He was unattentive to us & the status of our food.
Food: My wife ordered the French Toast & they were flavourless & there was no syrup offered. I order The Quebeker & the ham & bacon were cold, the sausages were OK. I ordered Eggs hard over & they were soft. The bread showed up 10 minutes after my food. The waiter offered more coffee when he brought the meal but never returned with coffee. Instead he came back at the end of our meal & asked again if we wanted more coffee which he did return with just as our dishes were being removed.
Atmosphere: The restaurant was maybe at 75% capacity when we arrived & 50% when we left, but eating outside, where they suggested we sit, was uncomfortable & was probably the reason our food was slow & cold when it got to us.
Overall this was a bad experience but I can say that $200 for 6 people was not that unreasonable.
I will never return there for more reasons then I listed here & to anyone reading this, if you are in the area & looking for place, I would just walk around the corner to Pigeon Cafe & have a better experience.
Coming in, the place had great reviews, I believed it would hold up to those standards, but the service lacked etiquette, a server yelled at us over sitting where we were supposed to, aside from the constant side eyeing, the service remained sub-minimal. The food itself was not entirely flavor-full, the waffles came (missing a piece) & tasted worse than eggoes; like the waffles were frozen then thrown in a toaster. I would highly discourage attending this restaurant.
Quintessential breakfast place & so much more! Wide menu of pretty amazing looking breakfast options, from eggs to waffles & crepes & everything in between. A perfect spot for your brunch party with mimosa section of the menu to explore. Then there is the rest of the menu, which I only perused as I was here for breakfast. I got Porag for my waiter, he was prompt, attentive & service was fabulous, will be back!
I waited a good 15 minutes at the entrance before someone came to seat me, which was weird. I also had to wait longer than I would have expected for my second glass of water & coffee. Otherwise, service was fine & the eggs & bacon were great. Not my favorite potatoes thought, but that's a question of taste. The atmosphere on the terrace is very cool.
Perfectly served breakfast. Had a large latte which was super creamy. Ordered one egg & bacon. For my surprise this came with fruit, bread & potatoes. So it was more than enough! Service is super polite & fast!
Great breakfast/lunch as always. Literally, never had a bad mean here...their eggs benedict & smoothies (my go-to) are 🤌🤌 Great waitstaff as well.
They have really sweet staff, this one girl (I don't remember her name unfortunately) gave us THE BEST spots to go thrifting in Montreal, shoutout to her 🫶🏾
& they have really good eggs bennys!
We visited Canada for a month, visiting Montreal, Ottawa, & Quebec City frequently going out for breakfast during our travels. Universel Dèjeuners & Grillades was our favorite during our travels for large, very reasonable, & delicious breakfasts. I love the option of the two egg breakfast with crêpes, toast, potatoes, & coffee. All of the weight staff we encountered were very pleasant & attentive. They offer indoor & covered outdoor seating. The only issue we encountered was the music too loud for us at times.
The breakfast was good; it would have been better if the eggs were cooked a bit more. The service was excellent as well.
My family & I had a pleasant experience at this restaurant We stumbled on this place while looking for a breakfast joint on Rue Cathrine before a campus tour. We were warmly greeted upon entry. Our server was excellent. I've never had someone ask'which language would you prefer to communicate with?' That's memorable service which warranted a huge tip at the end of our meal.
Anyway, the breakfast portions weren't huge, but just right. I ordered a western sandwich on croissant (excellent). My daughter ordered a croissant sandwich with egg, sausage & Swiss cheese (also excellent). My youngest daughter ordered plain crepes. When I tasted hers, I ordered my own single crepe as well. It was one of the best crepes I've tasted outside of what is made at home, or what Cora's serves.
I was most impressed by the bottle of maple syrup , free of charge, brought to the table to enjoy with crepes , French toast or waffles. The maple syrup was so good, i was considering sneaking the bottle into my daughter's purse (I didn't!)
We were greeted warmly by three people on the way out as well. Once again, excellent, tip-worthy service
I tried egg Benedict & it was so good, maybe a little too juicy. Fruits were so fresh & delicious.
This is a simple breakfast place with a diner atmosphere. The portions are large so we shared a salmon eggs Benedict. It was very
Lo Ely to spend a few hours In Montreal working the laptop on the steps at the Bell Tower. Stopped in for a great brunch. Eggs Benedict traditionally prepared, crispy home fries & personable service from our waiter. I'll be back again Montreal.
This location is next to a hotel & has an upscale ambiance. There is also a covered terrace in front just off the street. We ordered the banana strawberry Nutella toast & the combo eggs & waffle with extra toast. The coffee was additional. The waffle has syrup for the table included. The texture of the waffle was just a bit harder than I like but still okay. The french toast & potatoes were great. The portion sizes are quite generous. There is plenty of seating for one person up to medium-sized groups. The menu has vegetarian options for brunch & dinner.
Fabulous eggs benedict poutine that arrived very quickly. Very friendly staff
We went there Easter Sunday for breakfast & the service was horrible. The attitude of the staff is very unprofessional. We had to ask for everything instead they suppose to provide us by default. Example with egg breakfast combo with potatoes & toast. You suppose to have SALT PEPPER KETCHUP & JAM. But no they didn't even bother. I had to ask them. The pancakes for the kids were very hard & the chocolate milk portion was very very small... my kids didn't eat their pancakes. I had to ask for the coffee refill all the time. The waiter wasn't present . I had to look for him in order to ask for anything to be served.. The best thing in the end he comes with the bill woth TIPS included. I ask him why the tip is included, he said I have no choice to pay for it & it's a law. I have to give him 15% tip. My food order was 146$ & his tip was 22$ which equals to 168$. I told him I'll never give you a rip for bad service. He was insisting that I had no choice. So I ask for the manager & the manager is telling me the same thing. Also he start giving me excuses about the service. **he quote oh sir this us our fitmrst day for the terasse *** i replied since when this is a customer problem ...also I told him your service was bad & you still oblige me to pay him tip . He said sir. You have no choice, when I was discussing with him . One of his waiter had an audacity to interfere in the matter. I don't think the person was acting as a manager was actually a manager. I never had such an unprofessional behavior & 3rd class service. Honestly the food was good & expensive. I end up giving the waiter 15$ tip because I know they have to declare 7% tips of the total sales. I will not recommend anyone to go eat at that place. I really had a bad experience & ill highly recommend to stay away ....
1/2 Benedict classic: you get 1 eggs benedicts with 1 half wafdle eith fruits & nutella. The eggs benedict was enjoyable & the waffle is huge. However, the waffle although it looked crispy on the outside was quite chewy & arduous to cut. Stilla tasted fine. The potatoes are subpar. Too big in my opinion, no seasonning on mine & not any bit crispy. The egg & sausage platter was not out of the ordinary but it was good, just like any classics. The toast were on the burn side, which I don't like. Overall the service was great & very efficient. I didn't try any other dishes, but the people I came with were quite satisfied with theirs. Each portion comes with not quite ripe fruits but it depends on the season, I get that. You well full at the end of your meal & it's not too expensive.
Haven't been in maybe 8 years. But still comforting good food. Cheerful ambiance, & all day breakfast. Only thing is that i find they gave less hollandaise sauce then they used too. But the universal eggs benedict & the billy the goat were amazing.
Solid experience. Eggs Benny was tasty.
Massive menu fruit was very fresh.
