dessert(30) recommend(28) steak(27) wine(25) sauce(21) attentive(21) oyster(21) chef(18) dishes(18) duck(16) fresh(16) highly recommend(14)We've been to Tuck Shop a handful of times now. I never walk into a restaurant expecting to be disappointed, but the old addage goes "nobody bats a thousand". Tuck Shop. Tuck Shop bats a thousand. This time around we started with the Quebec snow crab legs, followed by the duck breast & the lobster pasta. The crab was sweet, & able to speak for itself. They got out of the way, took the deshelling difficulty with them, & let the flavour shine (with flavoured mayo & cocktail sauce on the side, should one want to dabble). The lobster pasta was perfectly cooked, & not over salted - something I have experienced with so many lobster pasta dishes in the past, that I figured that's just how the world worked. The duck breast dish was the star of the show for me. My amateur words cannot give the flavour its dues. The Dion Waiters award goes to the celery root puree that put up big numbers in a limited game time. Dessert was the olive cake (with rhubarb & vanilla ice cream), & a peach frozen yogurt sandwich. Strong contenders, but still unable to dethrone the homemade apple pie we had on our first visit as my Tuck Shop dessert GOAT. The service was quick, & ever-friendly - a staple of any visit to Tuck Shop. The recommended wine pairings for our mains were right on the money. (Disclaimer: we are far from sommeliers or wine connoisseurs.) We are already looking forward to our next Tuck Shop adventure.
Update April 2024, as good as ever! Wine list, service & food were 5 stars. If you want to splurge on a special occasion this is a top spot in Montreal to do so! Superb service & food. The food speaks for itself. Fresh ingredients, delishious dishes with great flavors. The service is some of the friendliest, most bilingual ive had recently. Could be a little over bearing if you dont want someone checking in on you very often, but for me it added to the night. Duck appetizer, the duck main & the roasted quail.
An amazing St-Henri staple that we love to go when we want to celebrate something special. Friendly service & not pretentious at all. Best thing to do: get a few dishes to share so you taste as many as possible!
Because one of our friends was sick & couldn't come, we had one less person than the reservation. The waiter was very impatient with us. I asked clearly when I made the reservation whether it was my friend's birthday & whether we could bring a birthday cake, & they said yes. When we arrived, we were told that we needed to pay an additional 20$ per person for the birthday cake. There was no mention of an additional charge during the phone call. We waited an hour after ordering before we got our meal, & the steak was completely mushy. Emmmmm...I probably won't go back again.
This place lived up to its expectations! Not only was the food incredible, but they did the little things such as making sure our water glasses were full, clearing the plates & cleaning the table promptly. The main courses were spot on & you could taste the flavors in every bite. We tried items that we normally would not & we were overwhelmingly surprised at how well it was cooked & the seasoning. Oh & the dessert, was some of the best we have had. We will definitely come back & can't wait to see what new items they have on the menu.
Food was awesome! Service was very attentive. We really enjoyed our evening out - thanks for a great time. We'll definitely be back!
Beef tartare was way too salty, couldn't taste anything else. Bacon wrapped rabbit was delicious. Shucked snow crab special was great, so much easier to eat. Brussel sprouts had a nice sauce. Hibiscus ice cream sandwich was perfect, though not sure why it was wrapped up like a soap bar. Great music selection. Excellent service. House martini was like a Lemon Drop, definitely enjoyable. The recommended Cabernet red was a great accompaniment.
Great food, excellent service, small location. Oysters are a must. Can't pick which dish was the best - soooo good! Reservations required.
Amazing food wine & service. Wow. Really a 5 star. Salad was insane. Rabbit was to die for. Barolo from 2011🍷❤️
Outstanding restaurant with excellent servers. Excellent wine list & cocktails. Please try & come here if you're visiting Montreal or of course live in Montreal!
The food is tasty & well presented but perhaps the portions are a bit small for a man. The focaccia is regular Italian type of bread, not worth the 10$. The 3 desserts were delicious. Should take out a table to create a bit more space along the wall, feels too crowded
Thanks for fitting us in last minute! Everything was absolutely delicious, from the wine to the apps & mains. You blew us away 🔥
Fine dining prices for decent quality. Can find dishes like this for significantly cheaper anywhere in mtl. $21 for 12 poorly cooked Brussel sprouts for example is absurd. Server was rushing us out the entire time.
