We’ve been to Tuck Shop a few times & the food is always top notch! This most recent time we went to celebrate our anniversary, & I had indicated that when I made the reservation. Every staff member congratulated us & mentioned it, they even brought our dessert out with a candle to celebrate! Our waiter Gabriel went above & beyond throughout the night, he was friendly & helpful with recommendations! This place is a must try for the delicious food & the amazing staff!
Grossly overpriced, just ok food & small portions to boot. Both $80+ wines were mediocre at best. I know the pandemic changed the way restaurants do business, but this was highway robbery. Too bad because both the service & ambience were great. Beware of the high marks given on the google reviews - you might be deeply disappointed.
Stop rushing people through their meals. The first time I went it was like this but not the second time, which led me to assume this was an anomaly. Went again last night & we couldn’t have been rushed quicker through our meal, it was our main conversation throughout our dinner (!!!) It was almost comical. Won’t go back until I know that this has been rectified.
My husband & I were really disappointed with our dining experience at Tuck Shop. We were celebrating our anniversary & we had made reservations. The restaurant was empty when we went in except for 1 couple. They sat us exactly next to that couple (as if we were a table of 4). The next couple who came in were also seated exactly to our left. Very awkward & uncomfortable for all of us. The cocktail was 19$ plus tax plus tip. I saw the bartender shake it & prepare it in 10 seconds, not even a garnish on it, what a joke. How hard is it to put a sprig of thyme to amp it up? Hoping the food would impress us after all the rave reviews, it really didn’t. We took the hanger steak & fries, horrible meat cut. My knife couldn’t even cut it, imagine chewing it, so nervy. The pork chop was just ok, nothing exciting & would not want to order it again. We had the chanterelle starter on focaccia, once again, nothing memorable & nothing tying it together.
Que du positif pour ce restaurant. Nous avions une réservation pour 21h00 & ils étaient prêts à nous recevoir à cette heure précise malgré le fait que le restaurant était bondé de gens. Notre serveur, Jonathan, nous a expliqué notre menu & nous a tout de suite mis l'eau à la bouche. J'ai pris le tartare de boeuf en entrée, & mes convives, le flanc de porc croustillant & les tomates beefsteak de Birri. Nos entrées nous ont été servies en même temps & nos plats principaux également; point de plus, quand une des personnes avec nous, s'est absentée pour aller dehors & pratiquer son seul vice, ils ont gardé son plats au chaud & dès qu'elle a franchi le seuil de la porte, son assiette fût déposée sur la table...tout cela sans que nous ayons à dire quoique ce soit. Nos plats principaux: Magret de canard, Onglets de Boeuf & Flétan du Quéebec. Nul d'entre nous avons laissé quoique ce soit dans nos assiettes; tous les ingrédients étaient frais & comme Jonathan, le serveur nous l'a expliqué, essentiels à relever le goût des plats. Des combinaisons parfaites pour nos palais. Vraiment, je recommande ce restaurant & I will be going back for sure, since they often change their menu. A real gem.
