The service was amazing from start to finish, & Jessica managed the event beautifully!! She was wonderful, attentive, & truly made the night special. The food was great, all of my guests were happy, & there were no complaints at all. Highly recommended!
Le service donne l'impression qu'ils ne veulent pas de notre argent. On était un groupe de 10 & tout semblait compliqué. L'ambiance & la musique sont biens, les cocktails & la nourriture ok aussi. Mon plat était bien, cela dit on a commandé des frites qui étaient dures à s'y casser les dents.
Je pense que l'ambiance en soirée qui tourne en club pourrait être intéressante, mais pour y manger, je ne recommande pas.
My husband & I went for dinner & the food was incredible. We went at 6 so I feel like we were pre-party atmosphere but all the staff was chatting with us; it was a great vibe. We had coconut shrimp, oxtail tacos, & jerk chicken. While all was amazing, I'm going back again for that jerk chicken…..best I've had in the area. Highly recommend :)
Very clean & wonderful ambiance. The staff are very friendly & fun to interact with! The food is to die for if you like Caribbean cuisine! Highly highly recommended!
Ordered a $55'Oxtail to Share' expecting it to be suitable for two people, but it turned out to be a portion barely enough for one - & even then, on the small side. We also ordered a mac & cheese, which was delicious, but again surprisingly small for the price. While the food itself was good, the portion sizes felt disappointing given the cost & descriptions on the menu.
Only recommended if you want to pay $50 to taste something good but still feel hungry afterwards!
I visited this place the last time I was in Montreal just for dancing & it was a great time. This time we were adamant about going for the food & made the reso weeks in advance. My husband & I had trouble deciding on what we wanted to eat because everything was fantastic. We had the Rasta pasta with oxtails, ackee & salt fish fritters, oxtail tacos & the jerk chicken. Oh my! Everything was so good. I was surprised about the amount of chicken we were given, the tacos were flavorful, the pasta had the perfect amount of spice & the fritters were phenomenal. The service 10/10. Jah was our waitress & Arielle is who greeted us at the door, both so kind & attentive. The restaurant was short staffed so we waited about 10 mins before being seated, the staff were incredibly kind & gave us free drinks to apologize for the delay. When Arielle found out it was our anniversary they gave us dessert on the house. The hospitality & service was amazing. I truly recommend to everyone & we may even go back before having to return to Alberta!
The restaurant has potential, but I wouldn't recommend it. Small details matter; the music was far too loud, especially considering the restaurant was nearly empty. The cocktails were standard, & they managed to mess up the classic margarita. The decor feels outdated & cheap. While the downstairs area was decent, it lacked a distinct vibe typical of a basement.
As for the food, it was average overall, though the jerk was quite good.
I came in as a walk in with a group of girls last Saturday. I have to say the food was amazing. The vibes were amazing, our server Jah was great !! She was very helpful when we need help deciding on what to get. She was patient with us & answered all our questions. I highly recommend the cherry kola it was Jah's recommendation & it was great. I heard mixed reviews originally but I would recommend to anyone. It was great 100/10. Only thing I would say is that they need to update their menu & times on google.
Amazing food! The jerk chicken, wings, & tacos were all delicious, the mac & cheese was unreal.... & the drinks were great too. Service was exceptional, especially Ariel. Highly recommend!

Where do I even start! My friends & I travelled from NJ to celebrate my birthday. Ariel & Jessica worked their magic to ensure we had a great experience from start to finish! Ariel & Jessica were warm, inviting, & provided exceptional service. The DJ was absolutely amazing, his Kompa set was fire! The food was a 10/10. I tasted the jerk chicken, oxtail Mac & cheese, jerk wings, & my expectations were met! The drinks were fabulous! From the bottom of my heart I want to thank Ariel, Jessica, the DJ, & the kitchen staff for making my birthday a memorable experience! I would highly recommend TROPIKAL!
We thoroughly enjoyed eating at Tropikal. Everything was amazing, the service, the food & the ambience. It was such a good vybe & the food was really amazing. Love the caribbean flavours with the Montreal touch. Highly recommend the calaloo dip!
C'est mon nouveau restaurant préféré, tout est impeccable. La musique est bonne & le service est chaleureux. & que dire de la cuisine, j'ai pris les calamars, les creuvettes, mac & cheese, chevre cabri & le griot & tout était excellent. Mon coup de coeur est le griot, c'est le meilleur que j'ai mangé ever. Je recommande fortement.
Our experience was underwhelming. The food was fine, but nothing exceptional. In my opinion there are other better Caribbean restaurants in Montreal. The service was fine. The restaurant really needs a cleaning reset. Half of the globes on the light fixtures are missing so it just looks cheep. Also the light fixtures that are there are SO DUSTY, they really need to be clean, it's unappealing at a restaurant. The mirrors were also really streaky & dirty. The overall restaurant didn't give me that clean vibes. We reserved, & were sat at the bar as there were no tables available. Two other groups of people who arrived after us were also going to be sat at the bar & you could tell they weren't happy. If the dinning room is limited I recommend on the reservation site you but both options dinning room & bar so at least when we arrive we aren't surprised.
I had an incredible time! The music was good, & the energy level throughout the night was amazing. A huge thank you to Arielle, the host & hands-down the best employee ever. Arielle struck the perfect balance between professionalism & making sure everyone had a fun time. Honestly, she deserves a promotion for the way she manages it all with such grace & energy! I'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing time at Tropikal. We recommend it 1000 percent. Customer service was an A+, food was an A+, & environment was an A+. When we return to Montreal, we will definitely come back!!!
