About us
In creating Toqué!, more than twenty years ago, we wanted to showcase the Quebec products and the work of those who supply us. We want more than ever to acknowledge the contribution of these suppliers who deserve the glorious title of artisans. We owe them the foie gras or samphire; lamb or vegetables, seafood or herbs. These tireless artisans inspire the cuisine of Toqué! to which they bring the flavors, textures and natural aromas of irreproachable freshness. We are members of Relais & Châteaux and Grandes Tables du Monde.

My husband & I had dinner here last week & it was fabulous. We hadn't been here in quite a number of years & it is nice to see that the quality, food, & service are all still top notch. We had a lovely seat by the window & our waitress also added to the evening. She was professional, personable, & prompt in taking great care of us. The drinks were great & the food was all delicious. Gorgous presentation in every dish, immaculate service by every single person serving (& there were many!), tables are spaced far enough away from each other that you can enjoy a conversation without feeling like you are on display, food melted in the mouth, stomachs (& souls) felt good/healthy for the night. If you want to be in the middle of a full restaurant, I would recommend a reservation a bit later... around 8 or 9 pm.View more

Very good tasting menu & wine pairing on an enjoyable night out at Toque. The first couple dishes were seafood forward with two well matched white wine pairings (dry German Riesling & Austrian Chardonnay). The next course was a transition from sea to land, which was a nice touch, as such the wine also moved from white to Rose, nice attention to detail. Moving onto red wines, the dishes evolved to land based ultimately finished with a rich foie gras, short rib, & loin paired with a Bordeaux from Pauillac. Continuing the trend of transitioning we were given the option of sweet or savory before the final dessert, my wife & I chose different, which was a nice option. All in all was a very attentive staff, great explanations from the Sommeliers, & good quality food. Would definitely recommend Toque as a quality option for food & wine pairing in Montreal.View more

My partner & I have visited Toqué three times over the past couple years, & it seemed high time to leave a review. All three experiences have been excellent. We get the tasting menu every time & are never disappointed. I would highly recommend adding the wine pairing to get the full Toqué experience. Some highlights of this establishment: - The tasting menu varies seasonally, showcasing different local ingredients. - Each dish is flavourful & beautifully arranged, with every ingredient--no matter how simple--playing a role. The focus is on discovering & appreciating high-quality local foods. They do this so well that my partner & I have found that we even enjoy ingredients we normally would not. I don't usually care for raw tomatoes, but I would eat this season's fresh tomato salad by the bowl, given the opportunity. - The staff are knowledgeable & attentive. A big part of the experience here is the staff's presentation of the dishes (& wines, if applicable) as they are brought to your table. They pay close attention to you without being obtrusive, making the pacing of the meal feel perfect as they bring out the next dish not long after you finish one. If you get up from the table, a staff member seems to magically appear to fold your napkin & pull your chair out for you as you return. - The staff are bilingual & can provide excellent service in either English or French. - They have been wonderfully accommodating of my dietary restrictions (more on that separately) & never made me feel like an inconvenience. For prospective diners, here are some points to help shape your expectations: - Interaction with staff is a big part of the tasting menu experience. If this isn't your cup of tea, the tasting menu may not be the best choice. - The focus here is on quality, not luxury or decadence. Toqué does not try to impress its guests with exotic or flashy ingredients. Expect local fruits, vegetables, & proteins, presented elegantly, with natural flavours. You will likely not be served a plate swimming in truffle oil & gold leaf. You may, however, eat the best parsnip purée of your life. - The price of the meal reflects the quality of both the food & the service. For most of us, eating here is a rare treat, but it is a treat indeed, & I have never regretted a dime spent at Toqué. All in all, Toqué has offered my family & me a delightful experience time & time again, & I cannot recommend them highly enough. My only regret is that I have not yet had the opportunity to enjoy each of their seasonal menus.View more

Le Toque earns their high marks. The three of us chose from the ala carte menu. We split four first courses & had our own entrees. The presentation was well done. We all enjoyed everything we ordered. The service was attentive & helpful. Timing was not rushed. We had a leisurely dinner & a wonderful time. Would highly recommend! I've traveled > 5 M miles across Europe, Asia & the US & I will remember Le Toque. Great job Team Le Toque.View more

Went for our anniversary dinner had a wonderful experience very nice quiet atmosphere custom made non alcoholic cocktails were made to our liking. I am celiac & the kitchen was very accommodating including making a few custom dishes just for me when I couldn't have others on the tasting menu. Would recommend. La cuisine était tout simplement excellente. Mes papilles s'en souviennent encore. Quantité parfaite, juste assez pour déguster & juste assez pour ne pas ressentir d'avoir trop mangé. Le service était parfait, le personnel sais exactement à quel moment venir vous déranger, lorsque vous avez terminé etc super. Seule note négative, la majorité de nos assiettes avaient des éclats (ce n'est pas grave mais la chef de salle auraient dû les faire changer). Je trouve cela dommage dans ce genre de restaurant que ce genre de détail ne soit pas rectifié. Peut être devriez vous penser à renouveller votre vaisselle? Cela ne m'empêchera pas de revenir bien au contraire. L'ambiance était tout à fait sereine, calme, parfait pour un repas en amoureux, les tables ont de bonnes distance entre elles. & mon dieu le prix (oui c'est un budget), mais tellement abordable pour ce type de cuisine & service. I did the tasting menu here 20 years ago & it was the best meal I had in my life until that point. This week I brought my husband here for the first time. We did the tasting menu again it was great. What really set it apart was the service & attention to every detail. My husband order a unique beer to drink & the server was able to recommend on of my favorite wines by me only telling him what I liked & didn't. The food came & each plate was a different experience. Restaurants in Montréal serving lunch seem to be a bit of a rarity these days, so I was very happy to find that Restaurant Toqué is still serving their table d'hôte! It was a great experience from start to finish, with the set menu offering a wide variety of choices to suit all tastes. Presentation of each dish was second-to-none & the paired wines were all excellent. The restaurant seems to be in that perfect niche where it could work equally well for both a casual or more formal meal, there were some tourists but there were also plenty of corporate diners, understandable given how few of the best restaurants in Montréal are open for lunch! Service throughout the afternoon from Clara was excellent. She explained all the items perfectly & kept my glass topped up throughout the service. So merci to Clara for helping make this lunch go so smoothly! Overall a really enjoyable experience & a fantastic way to while away the hours. Would definitely recommend for a memorable meal in Montréal.View more

Toque was disappointing. The meal, served over four hours, was mostly forgettable. The service was fine, but was at times stuffy & both over & under attentive.
Our group of five, including a vegetarian, got the tasting menu. To their credit, a few dishes stood out. They were: the airy, salty & rich corn amuse bouche (which everyone received); the light & refreshing tomato gazpacho (vegetarian only); the deeply flavored tomato tart (vegetarian only); the scallops, a smooth mix of buttery, briny & pickled flavors; & the best dish, the dessert, a refreshing mixture of fruit, texture & taste.
Unfortunately, most of the remaining dishes, including the main courses, lacked creativity or flavor. The vegetarian main course was a mediocre pasta with vegetables. The meat main course was pigeon, which was tough & bland. Meats & flavors were repeated throughout the meal, but not in novel ways.
If you're looking for a dynamic, exciting meal, I would recommend looking elsewhere. We enjoyed several of the city's upscale wine bars here that served inspired, creative dishes.View more

For a restaurant that is supposed to be best in Canada the dining experience was awful. The rack if lamb had to be returned & the seabass replacement was not fresh. To charge the prices they have is unbelievable. I do not recommend this restaurant. Very disappointing
