We visited this restaurant for the first time with high expectations. I went with my husband & brother, & the restaurant looked nice from the inside, which made us feel hopeful about the experience.
We ordered Chicken Lollipop, Chicken 777, Masala Dosa, & Chicken Curry Dosa. Our food arrived within 20-25 minutes, but unfortunately, the taste was very disappointing. None of the dishes were good, & we were extremely dissatisfied.
What made the experience worse was that from the next day onwards, all three of us had stomach issues, including vomiting & stomach pain. We usually go out for dinner once a week & enjoy exploring different restaurants, but something like this has never happened to us before.
Overall, it was a very bad experience, & I would not recommend this place.
We visited this gem of a place while visiting Montreal. The food was very delicious & tasty. My kids ordered the Mickey mouse dosa & we ordered the paper masala dosa with idlinvada combo. Also the owner was super helpful!! Do visit if you are in town!

Hit or miss place. Used to love it as the masalas dosa & idlis were so fresh, but after two less than lovely experiences separated by one good one in 2 years, that's it, not returning. If consistency is so varied, I don't want to risk taking anyone there. The only thing worth having the last visit was the South Indian coffee. The food was basically chilies & we'd asked for mild - not all desis want their taste buds burnt off & we had kids with us. Service is also hit or miss, depending on who is on shift & the time of day.
Great place to have south Indian in Montreal, Qc.

We ordered masala dosa, paneer masala dosa & Schezwan paneer masala dosa. The masala filling was on the saltier side, paneer in the dosa was lacking any flavour as it was shredded raw. The sambar was also a bit on the bland side. Overall the experience was okay. Not that great.
The first time trying south indian food in Montreal, & it won't be my last time.what an amazing dosa they have. I had the masala Chess dosa, I loved it.

We went to thanjai after 2 years . Service is terrible . Washroom are clean . Looking at the menu it looked like they were trying to make money on everything . If you want to order masala dosa you have to pay for dosa separately & masala was like a topping so you pay separate for it . We ordered paper masala dosa , rava onion masala dosa & simple paper dosa . Only rava dosa came out extremely soggy & had so many Thai chillies in it . Wanted to get it replaced but no one was coming to our table to hear or ask us about the order & we ended up eating that after removing chillies . We did complaint about it later on to the server who looked like she didn't care lol anyways other two dosas sambhar & chutney was reallly good .forgot to take picture of all the dosas but posting whatever I have .
We have ordered Veg kothu parotta & paneer butter masal from Thanjai. To be honest, one of the worst paneer butter masala ever had. It was just like a colour powder & sugar added in water & gave. Totally not worth the money & not recommandable. P.S - Veg kothu taste good, no complaints Updated based on the reply from the owner : This wasnt my first experience. Earlier when I visited ordered masala dosa & rava onion dosa. When it was delivered to table it was Rava masala dosa(P.S - Rava dosa delivered as Rava masala dosa). The actually problem is with the masala, it was stale.We informed the same but it was really suprising to hear the response that the chef didnt get the smell. But in the final bill the restaurant didnt charge for the rava dosa, if its really not the case then this deduction wont have happened. Some time things happen out of control but this restaurtant is not ready to accept it. We request to check the quality before its actually delivered to dine in/take out. We do see your restaurant has won awards, but all days the taste of the food is not same is our only concern. We have visited Thanjai thrice so far hoping each time we get better food but each time it was disappointing in one way or other.
Great South Indian restaurant, one of our go to place for south Indian food, we had dosas & masala chai this time around they were the best we've had in MTL so far ! Service was excellent as well (as it is everytime).Yogitha , our waitress was great & was always checking on us to make sure we had a great experience!
We visited this place at a friend's recommendation. We ordered plain masala dosa, mutton biryani & veg fried rice. The dosa was the closest thing to the authentic dosa I had in Andhra. Mutton biryani has changed in taste & tasted better before is what my friend said. The veg fried rice was nice & spicy. You must try this restaurant. Service is amazing, the staff & service is very timely. The ambiance will take you to Thanjavur.
Super belle expérience que nous avons répété deux fois jusqu'à présent. Le personnel est attentif & attentionné. On réponds a toutes nos questions sur le menu. Très grand choix végétarien. Les crêpes Dosa sont délicieuses. Formule apportez votre vin que j'apprécie toujours. Contrairement à plusieurs autres restaurants indien, les saveurs varient en intensité & en goût d'un plat à l'autre , pas comme si c'était du masala pour tous les plats! C'est notre nouvel endroit préféré en ville!!!
Very tasty sambar vada, Masala dosa. Affordable prices, delicious & spicy food, fast service. Little bit hot but overall good restaurant for South Indian food.
