The best sashimi in Montreal. Went there three times & everything is always so fresh & tastes so good. They also have very nice drinks. It's the place I always recommend to raw fish lovers. We really appreciate the nice & cozy atmosphere too.Voir plus

They age fish & wagyu in-house, & charge a hefty premium on the aged pieces as compared to the already very expensive staples.
With interesting ingredients & aged meats, I was really looking forward to the meal. Overall, I had nothing bad, but It's not really the sushi experience I hoped for. Everything was smothered in fragrant sauces & toppings, taking away from the delicate flavours of the component ingredients & the star proteins. If I had gone in not expecting sushi, but a Japanese-fusion crudo experience, i probably would have felt better. At the same time, I would not have ordered the premium cuts.
Sitting at the counter with the meat aging fridge right in front of me, I could not pass up a chance to try some. We ordered the aged otoro sashimi, which came topped with some caviar. It was probably the best dish of the night, as it had the least added sauce/seasoning. It was not the richest otoro, & I could not discern any difference in texture or flavour from non-aged, but it had a nice bite & flavour all the same.
We tried several different nigiri. This was where the sushi-disappointment set in. The rice was really heavily seasoned, almost like a sweet teriyaki, & every piece of fish was first slathered in strong sauce & then covered with pungent toppings. The unagi was ok, as the Smokey flavour of the Bonito topping complemented the eel, & you are expecting a sweet & saucy bite anyway. The chutoro was the least sauced, but was also the least fresh tasting of the fish.
In the rolls, we ordered a vegetable & pickle roll, a tuna roll, & a crab roll. The veg & crab were in a soy skin instead of nori, which didn't have much flavor & had an odd texture. The crab was probably my favourite of the three, as the meat flavour went well with the very sweet sauce.
The staff were all very nice & very helpful, & service was relaxed & low pressure, which I appreciated.
At well over $400 for two, where I left still hungry, I highly doubt I will return. Sad because the ingredients have so much potentialVoir plus
I think this was the best sashimi & nigiri I have ever had! The fish was phenomenal. It was so tasty & fresh & almost melted in your mouth. All of us really enjoyed the meal. The atmosphere is really nice very quaint & the service was fantastic.Voir plus

The service & atmosphere 10/10. Waiter was well-informed & the chef's seemed very competent! Not all every sushi piece was great but overall, it is a good-tasting sushi restaurant. It's the aftermath that did not sit so well. I am not sure how fresh their ingredients were for the 5pm sitting but immediately after leaving the restaurant, I could feel that the food was not going to sit well. Food poisoning? I'm sure you can fill in the blanks of what happened as soon as I got home. I've eaten at numerous sushi restaurants all over Japan & at fish markets as well; never had this kind of stomach upset at an somewhat middle/high-end restaurant. I recently discovered an amazing place - Sushi Hidden Fish! To be honest, I've been looking for a restaurant with authentic Japanese cuisine in Montreal for a long time, & here it is! The atmosphere there is simply incredible - calm & cozy, with a modern interior, but at the same time you can feel the spirit of Japan. The sushi & sashimi are to die for! Everything is very fresh & beautifully presented. It is clear that the products are of the highest quality, & the chefs know their stuff. The prices, of course, are not the lowest, but believe me, it's worth it! The service is also top notch - the waiters are very attentive & friendly. In general, if you want to try real Japanese cuisine in Montreal, I highly recommend Sushi Hidden Fish. Just book a table in advance, otherwise there may not be any seats. Everything I had here was special. I ordered green salad, 12 pieces (6 kinds) of sashimi, scallop hand roll (temaki), & seared albacore Maki (8 pieces). Fish was fresh.... Sushi served here is out of this world. We enjoyed OraSalmon with truffle & Snow crab sushi!!!! Salmon noodles were also inventive. One of the best places to dine in for sushi in the city! Love this restaurant. Small but great vibe. If you like sashimi, this is the place to go. Reservations are recommended, especially on the weekends. I came here for dinner. The sashimi platter was delicious. All the fish were so fresh. We also had the scallop sashimi & salmon noodles. The salmon noodles were ok. Not my favourite. The service was amazing. One of the better sushi places in Montreal. Very fresh & tasty fish. Wide selection that you don't normally find, all different types of toro. Reasonably priced sake selection as well. The only negative is that they won't let you order a side of sushi rice. It's the only sushi place that's not omakase only I've ever been to that won't serve you rice. Really weird.Voir plus
The fish used to be fresh whenever i ordered in, & this is why I used to love this restaurant. Lately, however, I have ordered in a few times, & I am sad to say that the tuna did not look fresh & the white fish smelled funny. I am disappointed. I also went there in person & the person at the door was very rude & dismissive. He asked if we had reservations even though the restaurant was empty. I must point out though that our waiter was very nice, it's just the person at the door who was disrespectful. Nevertheless it is disappointing to see an establishment treating customers this way. Salmon noodle - refreshing & well presented
Premium 24 pc sashimi - fatty tuna texture was not good. It was fibrous causing the fish to get stuck in teeth as opposed to simply melt in mouth. The wagyu was well prepared, & better than what I had in Japan. Hamachi with the citrus emulsion was my preferred fish in the ensemble.
Uni from BC was quite fresh.
nigiri with scallop & foie gras - partner had it. She said it was fantastic. A bit overpriced in my opinion at $25 a piece.
Maki - ridiculously overpriced (triple to what I am used to paying) for the flavor. I wasn't impressed with this at all. The rice that came with scallop maki was hard. the Unagi torched maki was better, but partner found it too sweet.
Just way overpriced. Also, the payment machine did not allow for dollar amount tipping. Default option of tipping begins at 18%...Standard is 15% on the SUBTOTAL.
