Review Summary

Sumac is highly regarded for its flavorful and authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, with many patrons praising the generous portions, high-quality ingredients, and standout items like the pita bread, falafel, and chicken shawarma. The restaurant offers a casual, welcoming atmosphere where service is generally described as friendly and efficient, despite occasional feedback regarding portion size consistency or specific culinary preferences. While most guests consider it a must-visit spot in Montreal for its affordability and delicious variety, some diners noted the unique service style where orders are placed at the counter, and a few individuals expressed mixed feelings regarding ingredient combinations or the texture of specific meat dishes. Overall, it remains a favorite for both dine-in and takeout experiences, consistently delivering fresh, creative salads and balanced flavors that keep customers returning.

The shawarma pita got shrinkflationed since I last ordered it, $40 for a sandwich & fries is a bit crazy. Ingredients are fresh, no doubt, but spending nearly $50 for a small pita & fries is wild, even in this economy. I likely shalln't return!

The best hummus, falafel & soft pita ever! 🧆 🥙 The plate is large, the staff is friendly, the menu has options to mix & match or combos to share for a bigger group.
Highly recommended!

If you have a lot of money to throw away & don't know what to do with it, go visit Sumac. You will spend $30 to $40 per person & you will leave starving. You would think this is a five-star Michelin restaurant by the prices they charge. Their food is okay but for the price they charge it should be absolutely 100% perfect which it is not. If I want it to spend $100 for two people to eat, I can go to much better restaurants then this cafeteria style dump.
