via LibroFood & service were both excellent!!! Very hospitable & cleanliness very well maintained. My husband had the steak frites which was delicious (& we are picky steak eaters due to the fact that we sous vide at home) & I opted for just appetizers. Escargot which was delicious & the mussels. The serving size for an appetizer of mussels was huge. Overall an awesome experience!!!

via LibroNot what I was expecting. I didn't realize it was Being your own wine, so that's on me. Ambiance is limited by the convention hall beside the restaurant, & the group area above the main restaurant. Ordered the crispy goat cheese & the escargot for apps. Goat cheese seemed to come out of a freezer, & the escargot was on a tray covered in cheese. Tasty enough, but not what I expected from a steak house. Fillet mignon & the Steak frite special as mains. Steaks & sides were fine, although medium rare might mean rare anywhere else. Verrrry salty. Waiter was brusque, but fine. The server that brought our food to the table however acted like I'd kicked her dog. Threw the escargot on the table to the point that the tray wobbled like a frisbee. I wasn't expecting a lot from this place, & yet somehow I got less than expected.

On y va pour le filet mignon divin. Sauces & frites merveilleuses . La salade en entrée
était infecte & indigne du restaurant & le dessert aussi. Le chocolat des profiteroles n'est pas a la hauteur ni la crème brûlée.
Assise sur des chaises de métal dans une ambiance froide & grise, il faut vraiment aimer le steak.

I am giving a lower rating because of the lack of staff & the consequences. The staff present were attentive & welcoming but it was a while to be able to order & much longer to receive the order. I understand again why but it affects the experience.
The steak was excellent & the vegetables good. The fries were delicate & very good as were the sauces.

via LibroNous avons passé une très belle soirée dans l'établissement. Dans chaque ville que nous visitons, nous nous devons de goûter à au moins un Steak-Frites. & oui, nous comparons! Celui-ci reçoit une haute cote! Nous avons partagé le "Chateaubriand pour deux". La cuisson (à point - medium saignant) était parfaite. De plus, ce que nous avons beaucoup apprécié, c'est que nos assiettes n'étaient pas envahies d'une montagne de frites mais nous pouvions en commander d'autres puisque les frites sont offertes à volonté. Le service était rapide & courtois. Nous y retournerons certainement avant la fin de notre séjour dans la métropole. Nous sommes contents de ne pas avoir écouter les critiques qui n'étaient pas toujours élogieuses & de décider de faire notre propre opinion.

I love that we were able to bring our own wine, they gave us a fancy standup ice bucket. The all you can eat fries promo is real & the fries are fresh & real. The sauces they serve with their steak are delicious.

via LibroAmazing restaurant! Great location. Waiter was kind, quick & overall fantastic. Food was AMAZING. Au Provre sauce was the best I have ever eaten. Steaks were buttery they were so tender. Fries were delicious & unlimited (we got a refill). Enjoyed the meal so much we even had dessert. Best cheesecake filling I have ever tasted. Will absolutely return whenever I am in Montreal, it is a must eat.
via LibroWish we had known in advance that we would need to bring our own wine. This was not clearly advertised on the website & we did not find out until we arrived at the restaurant. A bit unfortunate to spend $200 on a steak dinner & not be able to have a drink with it. A big loss of sales for the restaurant. Meal was good, steaks slightly under cooked- ordered medium but came rare, lobster tail flavourful but overcooked.
via LibroMy family & I had a very lovely & enjoyable dinner, our streaks were cooked to perfection & my younger daughter who does not eat meat enjoyed the French onion soup & the calamari. Our waiter was amazing. Being abale to bring your own wine & no corking fee was a bonus. We always make a point of visiting Steak Frites when we visit Montreal & it never disappoints, it is definitely a hidden gem away from all the crazy tourist areas.

via LibroRobin, our server, was terrific. He constantly monitored our table & filled our water glasses. He was extremely friendly & courteous. The steaks my dining companion & I ordered, the classic macreuse comprising the "steak & frites" selection, were tender, juicy & cooked to the proper degree we had requested. The lobster tail, was alright, not stupendous, but we found the garlic butter rather acidic. I've not experienced that before. The "bang bang" shrimp were also alright, smallish, breaded & fried. The piquant mayonnaise accompanying them was very good. The fries were so-so. They tasted best when they were piping hot, but after a few minutes became limp & rather sweet tasting, something that usually occurs when the potatoes have been refrigerated a bit too long. The green beans that also came with the steaks, however, were excellent. Not overcooked & with some fresh crispness to their texture. The black peppercorn sauce, the dijonnaise sauce & the mayonnaise requested for the fries were all too acidic for our tastes. It seemed as though lemon juice had been used to enhance the flavor, but rather had the opposite effect. The Tiramisu, for dessert, was rather ordinary, not dissimilar to the kind one can buy from the supermarket freezer. That being said, I would return for the steak & green beans, but perhaps bring my own mayonnaise for the fries & rely on salt & pepper as seasoning rather than any of the sauces. The value proposition here is the reasonable pricing & the "bring your own bottle" policy. Having Robin as the server will also enhance one's visit.

Tout était à la hauteur de Steak Frites ! Après 1an, c'est plaisant de retrouver la même qualité de boeuf, un excellent service & un endroit agréable.
