Every time I'm in Montreal, Stash Café is my dinner place - without question. We just went three nights in a row, & I still couldn't get enough. I could honestly go a fourth.
This place feels like a warm hug the second you walk in. The food is pure comfort - hearty, rich, & absolutely delicious. & the best part? There was nothing bad on the menu that I've tried. Every dish has been a hit, each one better than the last.
The vibe is fantastic - cozy & full of soul, especially with the live piano player creating the perfect ambiance (& yes, make sure to tip - it's part of the magic!). This is easily one of my favourite spots in Montreal, especially on a cold winter evening when it truly warms your soul.
The experience is made even better by the incredible staff. The servers are always polite, smiling, & genuinely kind - warm service that matches the restaurant's atmosphere. It makes you want to stay longer, order more, & come back tomorrow… which we did.
If it's your first time, trust me & go for the pierogies & the mixed platter - the best way to try a bit of everything. Also - don't skip dessert. The desserts are just as delicious as the mains, perfectly sweet, comforting, & unforgettable.
Authentic. Soul-warming. Addictive.
Highly recommend - just be warned, you might end up going three nights in a row too.
Already dreaming about my next plate of pierogies… & dessert. 🥟🎹🍰
My hubby's favorite place for cabbage rolls. I love the debutant dish that has a variety of foods.. the ambiance is cozy with live piano music… it's always consistently delicious & we save this for very special occasions or when we have guests coming from out of town who want to explore old Montreal & try Polish food (something different)
Love their apple cobbler & service is always on point. Highly recommended!
Super good polish restaurant. I highly recommend the Kielbasa it was delish.

Stash Café in Montreal is a truly unique place!
As a Polish visitor, I was delighted to find such an authentic restaurant serving delicious traditional Polish food. The atmosphere is warm & welcoming, & every dish tastes like home.
Highly recommended! 🇵🇱🍽?
Loved this spot! The atmosphere was amazing. A cozy inside with even cozier food. Our server was so nice. Overall, just an incredible experience. Highly recommend & I'll definitely be back!
We came across this restaurant by accident, & it was such an amazing experience! Walked into a warm atmosphere greeted by the super nice & talented pianist. Everyone went above & beyond, from seating us on a really busy night to the quick service. Let's not forget the quality of the food - SO GOOD. The barszcz with uszka as well as the periogi were exceptional, made by hand with love. It made me feel like I was eating at Babcia's. Highly recommend Stash Café :)
Had a great experience-every dish was delicious, & the service was both fast & attentive. Prices were fair. Highly recommend.
DH got the sausage plate, & I ate the vegetarian option. We both loved our meals! There was live piano music during our meal! Highly recommend!
Metered street parking is always challenging in the Old Port, especially with summer construction. I suggest finding parking outside the Old Port & walking over. It's a beautiful walk. Reservations are highly recommended. There are bar seats for walk-ins. There's live piano music in the evening. The place is charming, but a little dark (wandering to the bathroom is an adventure). There's an original drinks menu. Service was excellent & friendly, everyone was kind & helpful. I love the traditional Polish dishes (I had to google a lot of the names). There's a beginner's plate in the Table d'Hote for those who want to try a little bit of everything. The plate was yummy & generous. I left very full & satisfied.
This place is awesome. If you're there during the live piano, it's a lot of fun. It's a relaxed vibe playing fun songs, nothing classical. The service was very good & they turn tables quickly. I had a really hard time deciding what to order because every photo looked great. I ordered the tasing menu & go the Menu du debutant & peach cobbler. I highly recommend Stash.
We love this place. Stumbled on it ~10 years ago, & then kept returning. A polish expat place in Montreal that is heartwarming in its superb consistency, straightforward quality. Pierogi , potato pancakes, everything with beet or cabbage are all recommended. Probably the best Schnitzels this side of the Atlantic. Also a great collection of Vodkas, some served with pickle juice - worth trying. The room is pleasant & old fashioned but not aged - highly recommended.
Such a lovely dining experience with authentic Polish cuisine! My hubby & I walked in w/o a reservation on a Saturday evening in March at 8:30pm. Despite still being full, we were seated right away at a cozy window table. Upon walking in, you are greeted with wonderful live music from a very talented piano player right at the entrance. The restaurant is warm & cozy with a red light district vibe with the red lampshades on all the lights. Lovely beamed ceilings & church pew bench seats with a long bar on the side. Our waitress was great, professional, & courteous. We ordered perogies, schnitzel, among other Polish dishes, & yummy cocktails. We thoroughly enjoyed each dish & the entire evening. We loved the perogies so much that instead of ordering dessert, we ordered another 8 mushroom perogies to go! I HIGHLY recommend for some authentic Polish cuisine!
Great polish food that taste just like it does in Poland. I highly recommend the Stash cafe if you want to taste polish food!
The food was amazing! 😍 My partner had the cabbage rolls (stuffed with meat). It was really delicious. I had the table d'hôte with the zurek soup, & the debutante plate. While our Polish friends mentioned it's not things that necessarily go together, it allowed us to taste a lot of different things. Everything was great! We had both the crumble & crêpes for dessert. Again, nothing to complain about. Also, we shared the pickled herring for the table. Highly recommended as a chaser. Amazing service (only complaint is that it was a bit slow but it was Friday night & they seemed slammed). & the ambiance is really cool & chill.
We've been there twice & enjoyed both food & service. Great atmosphere, live music in the evening... Highly recommended!
In Montreal for work, & found this absolute gem of a place when I wanted something relaxed & delicious. Had pierogi (potato & cheese, with fried onions & sour cream), kielbasa, & small sides of potato salad (the pickle in was a revelation) & beet salad (amazingly fresh). For pudding, had the apple cobbler. Would eat it all again in a heartbeat if I could. Wonderful, friendly staff & service. Highly recommend.
This restaurant was amazing! The food, the decor, the service & the guy playing the piano. It all came together for a wonderful dining experience. The beet soup was a great start. The perogis were delicious. The ambiance was just right. It's deep into the old montreal area but worth the trek. Go early as the wait can be long. Without a doubt I highly recommend this place!
Service was great, food was tasty & fantastic, highly recommend A++, thank you, will definitely return.
