About

Stash Café serves traditional Polish cuisine within an interior defined by exposed brick walls, dark wood accents, and an intimate, rustic atmosphere. The kitchen specializes in authentic staples such as handcrafted pierogi filled with various savory stuffings, hearty cabbage rolls, and rich, vinegar-forward borscht. These dishes emphasize robust flavors and traditional preparation methods that mirror historical Eastern European culinary practices. The menu features an array of sausages and comfort-focused platters designed to provide a substantial experience for those seeking classic regional fare. Patrons occupy tables set amidst a collection of vintage decor elements that contribute to a distinct, storied setting. Review Summary

Stash Café is widely celebrated as a premier destination for authentic, comforting Polish cuisine in the heart of Old Montreal. Guests frequently praise the hearty, homemade quality of traditional dishes like pierogies, schnitzel, and beef stroganoff, often highlighting the variety offered by the popular debutant platter. The restaurant is renowned for its cozy, intimate atmosphere, characterized by dim lighting, rustic wooden decor, and the consistent presence of talented live piano music that enhances the overall dining experience. While the establishment is exceptionally popular and often requires reservations, most visitors find the welcoming service, reasonable pricing, and genuine hospitality to be well worth the visit, making it a beloved staple for both locals and tourists alike.

Loved this spot! The atmosphere was amazing. A cozy inside with even cozier food. Our server was so nice. Overall, just an incredible experience. Highly recommend & I'll definitely be back!

I have eaten quite a few cabbage rolls in my life. These were - hands down - the best I have ever had! The meat was smooth with no gristly bits whatsoever & had just enough rice. The flavour was mild (was that a hint of nutmeg?) but had a nice little zip afterward. Some places almost dilute the meat with rice; not here. The tomato sauce was also delicious. What made them, & the pierogis, truly outstanding was the velvety soft texture. Although the service was a little slow, they were very busy, so it was understandable. Suzanna was still very attentive & present while at our table. We will definitely return next time we are in Montreal! (Maybe even tomorrow!)

This was our favorite night out when we visited Montreal for the week. The food was amazing as was the atmosphere & service. Really enjoyed the live music. We tried the pierogi, kielbasa, golabki, sznycel mielony. Our favorite was the sznycel mielony, but everything was great!

Restaurant absolument délicieux! La cuisine est authentique & goûteuse, que dire de l'ambiance cozy. Prix plus qu'abordable. Je recommande le menu débutant pour goûter au plus de mets possible !!!

We came across this restaurant by accident, & it was such an amazing experience! Walked into a warm atmosphere greeted by the super nice & talented pianist. Everyone went above & beyond, from seating us on a really busy night to the quick service. Let's not forget the quality of the food - SO GOOD. The barszcz with uszka as well as the periogi were exceptional, made by hand with love. It made me feel like I was eating at Babcia's.

I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a child & every single meal I have loved. This is not upscale fancy dining it's a family type vibe where you sit down chat with your friends & family & eat some delicious comfort food. Stepping into this restaurant is like being brought back into time with a beautiful ambiance that you don't often find in this day & age. The borscht is like a warm hug & their version of a Caesar (dirty polek) might be the best cocktail I've ever had. Staff is friendly if you are friendly to them. They assist us with food intolerances & even sourcing polish grocers in Montreal to get the best (& I mean the best) pickles. This place is a classic & if you don't get it? It's you - not the restaurant.
