Sota BBQ Coréen centers its culinary focus on the interactive tradition of table-side grilling, where patrons sear high-quality cuts of marinated beef, pork, and seafood over live flames. The menu highlights classic staples including thinly sliced bulgogi, spicy pork belly, and tender galbi, accompanied by a diverse array of house-made banchan side dishes. Each meal incorporates the essential elements of fermentation and spice, utilizing traditional preparations like kimchi and soybean paste to anchor the flavor profiles. The seating arrangement facilitates groups, featuring built-in ventilation systems designed to manage the smoke generated during the cooking process. Patrons engage directly with the heat source, managing the texture and char of their selections to their specific preference. This hands-on approach defines the technical execution and the structural rhythm of the entire dining sequence within the space.

Great delicious food but server was staring at us the whole time. Very uncomfortable. We were seated downstairs & the ambiance was poor compared to upstairs. The same 5 songs were playing & we had to ask for them to start the music because it kept stopping. Also, they charged us with the automatic 15% tips event tho we were 5 & their policy says it applies at 6 people so I'm pretty sure it's because we were black people. The service is just bad. If you're ready to deal with casual racism go ahead.
Also we had to keep reordering again & again because the food was simply not coming. They just kept telling us to redo the order.
Très bon service, rapide & chaleureux! J'ai vraiment adoré l'expérience du BBQ coréen. La nourriture était excellente & l'ambiance super agréable. Je recommande! 🔥🥩
We went 2 people on a Friday, & at first the service was normal, but then went on to be slow to the point where we were waiting for more than 20 minutes for our order. Our second order that was out never came, so we had to order again & wait more. The meat was okay, but just really Salty. It's really a place where you have to go during the week & not during rush hour, or else you will be disappointed. It was really noisy, we had to practically yell to speak to each other. Anyway, it wasn't really worth the 43$, you can find better else where.
Très mauvais service. La serveuse ne voulait pas parler français, & n'est pas venu nous voir de toute la soirée. Elle nous a ajouté un pourboire obligatoire sans nous avertir au préalable (illégal). Aucune ventilation, ridicule.
So first time here, we are from Niagara Falls. Mind you we have about 3 of these types of establishments in Niagara & they are all top notch, from food to service to atmosphere.
We arrive on time for our reservation, we are escorted not to the main floor but around the corner where we see the signs for the washrooms....ok ok lets see what's going on lol. They take us past the washrooms & then down stairs into another section of the restaurant & we were like ok ok this is nice.
Server comes over & drops a pitcher of ice water on the table, then says by the way limits is 2hrs & walks away. Leaves no glasses to use, no plates. No utensils & no tongs to use on our raw food to cook.
We figure out on our own that we need to scan a QR code & use that to place the order we want to grill....we manage to get someone else's attention & get all the missing items.
So we place our orders, & it takes almost 30min before any of our food arrived to cook. Mind you we have a 2hr time limit. So 30min gone....sushi shows up, but we didn't get any of the meat we ordered until around 45min in.
Food was mediocre at best, like a 5 out of 10.
Also about a quarter of the itmes we did order, never made it to our table. Not sure what happened there.
When we finally decided to pay & leave vetoed the same server who first sat us....about 20min went by & no one came to collect payment. We had to wave down a female employee.
She comes back about 5min later with a machine....presents the bill, then says oh by the way the TIP is already included in the total....uh ok, we were a table of 4....they decided to give themselves a $28 tip.
Then I put my card in (debit) to pay, she say oh we only accept cash or credit cards, wow ok....I said thats not on your website at all, & you never said that when we came in, she says we have a sign on the front door....yes, but if your website was honest about it I wouldn't have made the reservations lol
So we had to move money around to one of my wife's CC & pay.
All in all a horrible experience, we come to Montreal twice a year & will not be going to this place again.
$228 for 4 people lol soooooooo not worth it for this crap.
C'est probablement le meilleur BBQ Coréen pour moi. Service impeccable, nourriture de qualité & l'accueil est toujours chaleureux. Je vous le recommande que vous soyez seul ou en groupe
Our experience was completely ruined by the owner's behavior.
As we were finishing our meal, the owner came over & yelled at us because I had left ONE piece of meat on my plate. He claimed that particular cut cost him $30 per pound. I calmly explained that I simply didn't like that specific cut of meat. Instead of accepting my response, he grabbed a knife & fork directly from our table, pointed at the meat on my plate, & began cutting it in front of us while insisting there was nothing wrong with it.
It was one of the most awkward & embarrassing dining experiences I've ever had. The entire restaurant went quiet, & the surrounding tables were staring at us while this happened.
We immediately asked for the bill, paid, & left without leaving a tip. As we were walking out, several employees apologized to us & said they were sorry for what had happened, even mentioning that they knew their boss behaved this way.
No matter how good the food may be, no customer should ever be publicly humiliated over leaving a single piece of food on their plate. We won't be returning.
