This place is an institution, a must try if you're in the area. One of the best smoked meat restaurants in town. Don't leave without trying their smoked meat spaghetti sauce! They also have live music here on most nights.
A place I wanted to try because often I kept passing by that restaurant lots of cars parked so I said one day I'll try it , I wanted to see what all the hype was so I decided to go & try it. Big mistake. Way overpriced for the quality I mean I paid Close to $30 for a handful of french fries a small tiny sandwich & a small drink & the taste wasn't that great big deception I do not recommend this place 🙄, THE BELLE PROVINCE SMOKE MEAT SANDWICHES & FRENCH FRIES ARE A THOUSAND TIMES BETTER & WAY MORE AFFORDABLE
After a long drive to Kingston, ON & back, my son & I decided to stop & try Smoke Meat Pete for the first time. We were lucky to find parking in front of the restaurant as I am 68 years old & have 2 bad knees, & a gentlemen outside was nice enough to direct us to the spot. We proceeded to go into the restaurant & while we were waiting in line, a rude elderly lady holding a Starbucks cup yelled loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear'can the blue BMW please move, you're blocking the front door'? So I went out with my son to see which door we were'blocking' but we were 6 feet away from the side of the door. We went back in & informed the lady that we were not blocking anything, & she doubled down. We asked why there is no'no parking' or'reserved' sign saying parking is not permitted there, & she said the establishment is a family-owned business. What does that have to do with anything? It must have been her spot ha ha! She said there are lots of handicapped customers, which I completely understand as I have very bad knees but the handicapped ramp was even further away on the other side of a railing & leading to the another door, completely unobstructed. She told us to park in the parking lot across the street for a different establishment. Again this must have been her spot & ahe wanted it back lol...
If she asked nicely, I would have moved to a different spot just to be nice, but we left the rude lady & we will NEVER be back as a potential new customers...

Not my first time will be my last really sad amazong service but my sandwich was dry meat was really bad cant believe i paid for this unfortunately im not going back 😔
J'ai découvert ce viande fumé restaurant dans les commentaires d'un billet de voyage sur une ville étrangère, alors nous nous sommes arrêtés ici sur le chemin du retour après la cueillette des fraises. L'ambiance du restaurant est très originale. La poutine au viand
fumé & les spaghettis sont excellents, mais les ailes de poulet m'ont laissé indifférent. On a offert des crème glacée gratuites aux enfants, tout le monde était ravi.
Onc upon a time this place used to have the best smoke meat in all of Montreal. Over the years, their quality has declined, the sandwiches have shrunk, while the prices have skyrocketed. Today I went with my parents for lunch & we all got the special. My mother got a good sandwich but both my father & I got the driest sandwiches we've ever had - not only was the meat super dry, the bread tasted stale & the fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil. After I ate about half of it, which is not very big because it's such a small sandwich, I told my parents my sandwich wasn't good & my dad said he was thinking the same thing. We live quite far away & this was my birthday'dinner' with my parents so it was really disappointing. When the smoked meat here is good the fat just melts in your mouth. We thought maybe they mixed up our sandwiches & gave us lean. I called over one of the two waitresses & explained that these sandwiches are nothing like they usually have been. Now, because we'd both eaten half, I didn't ask for a full replacement. The waitress didn't want to take the food back & made me insist before she came back saying first the manager requested to see our receipt first - as if we were lying & had really ordered lean sandwiches. My dad found it in his wallet, & she took away our barely eaten plates. She returned later with just one sandwich on a plate, considerably smaller than the other ones, & nothing else. When we asked where are our plates, which we'd barely eaten, she said the manager told her to only give us the sandwich. So we had to argue again to get the sides back. This sandwich tasted was SO much better you would never believe it was even the same restaurant. So we're very upset that we spent all this money, got one terrible sandwich, & had to fight to get it replaced. Terrible service & terrible value. We will never come back here again.
We had our dinner today at Smoke Meat Pete Barbecue restaurant. Located at eastbound Auto-20 highway just before you drive into Montréal Island. The restaurant gives a vibe of Texas-style country side with rustic decorations, red lightening ambience, great live blues music & amazing ViandeFumée we ordered. We selected Le Spécial jumbo de Pete (picture & video attached). It took a while for them to prepare, however it was worth waiting. The smoked meat sandwich was super delicious 😋, even the fries were crispy. On the side we had a coke. To be honest, it was super heavy & the price was reasonable (31$ per person). They had ample sitting arrangement inside the restaurant, indoor & outdoor patio places. Overall we loved the environment of the restaurant & the staffs were courteous. Merci Beaucoup.
