About

Savsav presents an industrial aesthetic defined by soaring ceilings and a flood of natural light that fills the open room. The menu centers on creative preparations like strawberry matcha served in large glass carafes alongside a variety of fresh, savory plates. The physical layout utilizes the spacious, high-ceilinged architecture to maintain an airy feel, though the entrance remains discreet without prominent exterior markings. The interior provides a distinct, sun-drenched environment for those utilizing the space for work or socializing. Every table offers a view of the minimalist surroundings, where the focus remains on the interplay between the stark, metallic structure and the colorful, vibrant drinks. The establishment maintains a unique character that prioritizes raw, functional beauty paired with a focused selection of house-made refreshments.

Review Summary

Savsav is widely regarded as a unique, hidden gem in Montreal, celebrated for its beautiful industrial aesthetic, high ceilings, and abundant natural light that creates an ideal atmosphere for working, socializing, or hosting private events. Many patrons praise the quality of their signature drinks, particularly the strawberry matcha served in generous carafes, alongside a variety of popular brunch items. While the space is frequently described as a stylish and vibrant destination, experiences regarding service and noise levels can be inconsistent. Visitors often note that the entrance is difficult to locate due to a lack of exterior signage, and some report mixed feelings about staff friendliness and the comfort of the seating layout. Despite occasional frustrations regarding crowded conditions or varying service quality, many find the venue to be a standout spot for its ambiance, creative menu offerings, and distinct character.

Cool concept & layout, I love seeing the hood busy & filled w people, however I think it's a shame that some of the employees (male baristas) carry with them such condescending attitude. Not a single hello or a smile in what its supposed to be a « people person » job, but rather a very dry service where it feels like you're bothering them, even when you're a regular. This alone makes the place a definite miss, no matter how good the coffee it is. Definitely so many more nice & friendlier options around St Henri!

No notes. Coffee (especially their chai) - Food (especially their breakfast sandwich) - Servers (especially Killian) - Atmosphere (especially the sweet sunlight) - 11/10

Savsav in Montreal was one of the most frustrating coffee shop experiences I've had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming, & the service only got worse from there. The staff came across as rude, dismissive, & completely uninterested in being helpful. Instead of making customers feel comfortable, they acted like basic questions or requests were somehow an inconvenience.

What stood out most was how unaccommodating they were. I got the impression that they had no interest in listening, helping, or even trying to understand what I was asking for. A decent café experience is not just about coffee, it is also about basic courtesy & professionalism, & Savsav failed badly on both. It felt like any attempt at communication was met with attitude rather than patience.

The whole experience left a really bad impression. There is a huge difference between a place being busy & a place simply not caring about customers, & this felt like the latter. I do not expect perfection, but I do expect basic respect, & that was completely missing here. With so many better coffee shops in Montreal that actually know how to treat people properly, I honestly cannot see any reason to come back.

Save yourself the aggravation & spend your money somewhere that actually deserves it. This city has dozens of coffee shops that know how to treat people properly. Savsav isn't one of them, & based on my experience, I cannot imagine any scenario in which I would ever return. Life is too short, & Montreal's café scene is too good, to waste time on a place like this.
The one star was for the size of the coffee :)

Updating from recent visit

Deducting point for atmosphere reasons

Tried the strawberry matcha & it was actually really nice

They seem to have changed the layout - although the additional couchs are cute, their positionning are all wrong. Just looking around made me feel nauseous. I get wanting MORE people IN the café, but the vibes arent the same. The previous layout was much better. It made the space breathe more & for me, I don't feel as relaxed visiting - because the music is also obnoxiously too loud.

Positive notes
The employees are always sweet.
The service is relatively fast
Coffee is nice & the matcha was good ( 2nd time experience for match & sav sav's is good )

Probably gonna consider only grabbing to go from now on

Great vibes. Great music/beats. Great food. Great coffee. Easy to get a table at 12 on a Tuesday. Comfy seating. Great for working if that's your style. Unique plates & drinks.

I've been before & have had their specialty coffees or a classic latte & have never been disappointed, but I went today & tried the hojicha hot chocolate & was super disappointed. It's tasted like a water-y milky, nothing. A slight hojicha taste but otherwise a disappointment for the price, $10 including tip.

Savsav is a hidden gem, IYKYK In my opinion one of the most beautiful coffee shops in Montréal. Such a cool vibe, very welcoming & good service. The food is delicious & their special drinks are tasty. Good spot for brunch or to work/study. Very bright with a lot of natural light. Un incontournable dans Saint-Henri!
