I had the pleasure to visit Satu Lagi for a solo dining on a Saturday evening & I left deeply satisfied. This intimate & dimly-lit establishment offers a delightful selection of Indo-Malaysian plates & cocktails all done exceptionally well.
Upon first walking in, the restaurant welcomes you with the enticing smell of smoke coming from its open kitchen. It is amazing to watch the kitchen work so seemlessly with the massive fire intermittently stealing my attention away from the food as it ignites & dances against the rhythmic tossing of the wok.
The bartender is also extremely nice, humble & passionate about her craft. The sheer enthusiasm radiating from her is contagious. It was a pleasure to connect with her as she shared about the'secret' & the history of the Pomelo cocktail. What a creative drink that replicates the flavor of an ingredient that isn't even included in the recipe.
The food far surpasses expectations with each dish made with care & offering a range of texture, flavor & aroma.
The jamur jamur of fried oyster mushrooms was crispy without feeling greasy, & the pickled shimeji mushrooms add a much needed acidity. The kajang panjang kluwek was deeply savory & umami. The fried caramelization on the beans & the softened onions add a rich sweetness that complements the saltiness.
The highlight of the meal was the cumi bakar bali; albeit small, the calamari packed a lot of flavour & aroma. It was smoky with charred bits, sweet & lightly spiced from the tamarind glaze, & perfectly cooked tender with a slight bite.
Overall, Satu Lagi was a pleasant surprise & I will surely be coming back for more. The food was delicious & all of the staff care deeply about the quality of the food served & of the service provided.View more
This place is special - the consideration & intentionally in the food, drinks & atmosphere are top notch. Standouts for my pallet are the mushrooms, malay Cote de boefe, the rendang & honestly all the cocktails. Ask your server for a natural wine pairing.View more
I had the pleasure of dining at Satu Lagi during my visit to Montreal, & it was truly a highlight of the trip. The flavors were bold, authentic, & exceptionally well-balanced. The gado gado was a standout-fresh, vibrant, & dressed in a perfectly creamy peanut sauce. The satay was grilled to perfection, tender & full of rich, smoky flavor.
The drink selection was equally impressive, with thoughtfully crafted cocktails & a solid variety of alcoholic options that paired beautifully with the meal.
Beyond the food, the staff were absolutely wonderful-warm, attentive, & genuinely passionate about what they do. Their hospitality made the experience all the more memorable.
Satu Lagi is a must-visit for anyone seeking high-quality Indonesian cuisine in Montreal. I'll certainly be returning.View more
We had a great meal at Satu Lagi. The waiter guided us through the menu & we opted for the Jamur Jamur mushrooms (great with a sambal sauce), chicken satay (not bad but not great), rendang beef curry (a little one note in flavour), Chinese broccoli (so delicious!), & a chili cocktail (yummy)!View more
I'm Indonesian from Vancouver, & i would say this is the best Indonesia-Malaysia restaurant in Canada. The taste & the vibe just like home. Would really recommended for Indonesian who come to Montreal to try this restaurant. Try their ibu-ibu cocktail!View more
On y retournera ! View more
I wanted to love this place & had high hopes for it after looking at the menu. The cocktails had little to no taste, they tasted watery. They completely ran out of white wine after we ordered. Food was ok but not very warm, felt like it was sitting in the kitchen for a while. Was overpriced for the quality of the food & cocktails. For 200$ per person you can find better options.View more
Nothing but great things to say about Satu Lagi - everything exceeded expectations. Traveling with Celiac disease is always stressful, so being able to have anything in the menu is such a treat. & even more so when it's all delicious. We ordered the fried mushrooms (Jamur Jamur), the broccoli (Kailan), & the scallops (Pétoncles Poêlées) - all excellent, but I think the fried fish cakes was the star appetizer. The curry chicken (Kari Ayam) was our favorite main, & the satay was a top notch side car. Disappointed to report we didn't sane room for dessert, but I can attest that the cocktail I had (the chili mutiara) was phenomenal. I like a little heat in my cocktail, & along with the smoke from the mezcal this was on point. As if the food (did I mention entirely gluten free?) wasn't enough of a reason to visit, the service, ambiance, & location all exceeded expectations too.View more
This restaurant offers high quality Indo-Malaysian tapas, a type of cuisine & concept that stands out among other more generic & touristy stops okay Mont Royal. If you are looking for more of an upscale experience in that neighborhood, with high quality service & an extensive wine list (not to mention great cocktails), then Satu Lagi is your spot.View more
Without pretensions, From cocktails to desserts, It was the most exquisite culinary experience. Every single bite was more delectable than the next. The dished were packed with fresh ingredients, carefully crafted to make every bite heavenly. I cannot wait to return & i absolutely recommend this restaurant/experience!View more
View more
View more
Rather disappointing: rendang beef had too much fat & lacked flavor. Shrimp also lacked flavor, as did the gado gado. Fried mushrooms & cocktails were ok. I had higher expectations based on the reviews. Wouldn't return.View more
Every single dish was remarkable & super flavourful! Delicious, fresh cocktails & great atmosphere. The bathrooms are like a mini trip to Bali!View more
The food & cocktails were exquisite. The squash satay was my favorite. The Susu cocktail hadnsuch complex multilayered taste, I almost cried! The pandan creme brulee was another hit with our group.View more
View more
Was really excited to try this place, planned the Montreal trip also around it. Was a bit disappointed. Not that the food wasn't good, but it just wasn't anything special for the price. The service, atmosphere & overall maintenance was great but they could up their game with the variety on food. The cocktail was also good (Paradin Rice). We had the Satay Daging (beef) & marinated Calamari. We also tried the Fried chicken.View more
The cocktails & food were delicious. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a dairy-free dessert, too. Don't hesitate to try it out!

Wonderful new restaurant. Eating Indonesian food this good made me a little homesick. Both cocktails & mocktails were excellent.
Only missing dish was sambal goreng boncis ;) Oh, & sambal badjak. Now hoping they will also open for lunch…

Excellente bouffe & excellent cocktail! View more
Wonderful discovery. Lots of choices to share & try the different dishes. Many mocktail choices & the cocktails are extremely inventive. Patio in summer is lovely. Might be tough to get a table in the winter. All gluten free.View more
Food here was great, super flavourful & the cocktails were really nice. Don’t skip out on the satay!! Nice spot for a date or dinner with friends.
My only critic is related to the service. I like sitting at the bar when the kitchen is right behind it to be closer to the action, but the cooks seemed really bored & didnt hide it lol. Big yawns, sometimes on their phone while waiting at the fryer. One guy fully took off his cap & shook out his hair. I totally get having off days, but it just dimmed the experience a little. I’d still go back!View more
Such good food & the cocktails are out of this world!!View more
We were a group of five & the waitress said that as it’s a tapas style place, it takes ~ 5 dishes per 2, we went on & ordered almost the whole menu. Everything ranged from good to amazing & unbelievable. Good cocktails both alcoholic & alcohol free.View more
