11/10 experience. Hands down the best meal I've had in a while. Everything was so flavourful & the service was excellent. MUST HAVE the papaya salad, pork belly bao buns, & coconut mango black rice dessert. The chicken skewers & shrimp fried rice were great as well.

Possibly the most overhyped restaurant in Montreal. My laksa soup was almost cold, & just really not good??? they also got the order wrong (brought it to me without chicken, as was ordered). My friend's order was inedible & when we reluctantly mentioned it to them, they wouldnt do anything about it. The service by someone who was possibly the owner was rude. Don't understand the hype & won't be going back to try!

Thought I had covid when I ate the chicken laksa because it tasted like water down version of a laksa that you can get in Asia. The food presentation looked right/fine, portions were small-yish (got chicken satay as well) but there was no flavor. If you are going to be charging $19 for a small bowl of chicken laksa, you'd better get the flavor right. So $19 + $11 for 3 satay skewers with not that good of a taste plus tips & taxes, it's over $30 for flavorless food that you will go hungry again in 30-60 minutes, what are you even doing?

Pretty good food. Some items were salty like the sauce on the bao & some, like the garlic sautéed snow pea leaves were under seasoned. Laksa with chicken was good too but didn't have the depth & creaminess I was looking for.

A really intimate well-lit gorgeous restaurant on Notre-Dame 🎉🎉 We particularly loved the way beer cans are hung next to the light & gives off a very hippy bohemian vibe 😇😇 We started off with Jasmin Tea & beer & then moved onto Chicken satay that was incredible ❤?❤? For the main meal I had the chicken Laksha soup while my partner had lamb with rice & each bite was a gourmet's delight 🎉🎉 Our full compliments to the chef for the delicacy & also the staff that gave very good recommendations 😇😇 Finally for dessert we had the buttermilk cake & it was a heavenly delight 🎉🎉 Highly recommend this 11/10 restaurant with fantastic staff & service & we can't wait to try other items on the menu next time 🙏🙏

Top notch!!!!
Kway Teow was so flavourful with good wok hei flavours. Chicken satay skewers were crispy on the outside & tender meat, & that peanut sauce on the side was scrumptious. Garlic veggies were delicious. Our server was super friendly & approachable, generously gave us a piece of kueh bengka to finish our meal to celebrate a birthday. Kueh bengka was moist & the coconut flavours weren't overpowering. If i'm ever in the city again, definitely going out of my way to come back!!

I got recommended by a friend I made on the train to Montreal. Wow! The food was amazing! We ordered the fried curry rice, beef/chicken satay skewers, mussel curry, & fried chicken.

The fried curry rice with the spicy sauce & mild salt. It's great & savory because I love to eat spicy food. I do not recommend to put a lot of sauce in the fried rice if you cannot handle spicy, but you should try out a bit because it's more flavourable with a bit of spicy & sour.

The skewers were delicious! The beef (juicy) & the chicken were marinated well & not too dry, not too salty & balance taste with the peanut & creamy sauce.

For the fried chicken, it has balance of sweet & salty. Its sweetness isn't thick & you can still feel a bit of crispness in the skin.

The best dish that we had is the mussels curry! We got recommended by a server & decided to try out. The first bite combined the rice & the curry soup, it's delightful & aromatic. The soup wasn't too creamy & salty. You can see there's a bit of oily in the soup. Also, there are bell peppers pieces inside the mussels but you do not taste them at all due to the overwhelming of curry taste.

The restaurant is louder than the other restaurants I've been but the conversation is still audible. I especially love to currency collection wall that they have. Such a diverse community!

I usually don't write this long review but I am impressed by the taste of the food. Will definitely recommend to try it out!

We visited for dinner, arriving around 5:30. There is no sign above the restaurant; you just have to know you are in the right spot.
Decor inside has a lot of dark wood & deep red. There are string lights & large cans strung across the ceiling. Music is loud but not so much that we couldn't hold a conversation or hear our server.
We did not have to wait for a seat at the kitchen bar, where we could watch some of the food being plated.
The server was phenomenal, speaking English for this monolingual tourist. He tailored food recommendations to each of us based on tastes & spice tolerance. :) His recommendations were spot on for each of us. Each food item was brought out as it was finished by the kitchen, so it was always piping hot.
The pork buns were delicious. I had leftover peanut sauce after finishing the chicken satay, which I also ate by pouring it over some of my husband's leftover rice. (My choices did not come with rice, which I thought was odd.) My absolute favorite was the black rice pudding dessert. My husband has a spice beef dish for dinner that was extremely tender & perfectly spiced according to him. His dessert was a warm cube of pressed, seasoned rice with a green, custard-y top. Also good, but not as yummy as mine!
The place is clearly popular with the locals. By the time we left, there was a line to get in.

Eaten here 4 times, tonight had papaya salad, satay chicken & shrimp squewers, fried rice, pork buns, coconut beef, spicy veg, & salmon. Everything delicious, well presented, great service. No complaints at Satay.

Had a booking for 8 on sunday at 7:30pm. When we entered, the place was packed with other groups. I thought the service or the food would be slow to come out but i was definitely wrong.

Our waiter was really nice, explained the food, & made sure my friend with a food allergy got a suitable replacement.

The food was a set menu for the entire group. 7 plates for 55$. Every plates was delicious, i thought I wouldn't be filled initially but i was wrong again. There was barely any downtime between plates coming in which was nice. The plates were mainly meat (chicken skewers, fried chicken, ribs, lamb, pork bao bun) which was perfect for me.

Overall, food, service & atmosphere was great. Definitely recommend going there to everybody.

One of my colleagues highly recommended this place (infact she was adamant we try it out) & glad we took her recommendation! Got to try a few things on the menu & most of it slaps. Definitely check out the fried chicken buns & the skewers. Flavourful, fresh ingredients & the skewers had a unique smokey but a piercing marinating sauce effect to it - gotta try it to believe it. If you're in the area or want something different - check it out!

The food was great & so was the service. The chicken satay skewers were probably the best thing we had. The bao buns were very good as well. The fried rice was good but not our favorite thing on the menu.

Keith & Richard here, (ignore the Tristan name. I do that to fool friends)We just got done having dinner. Great to see you again. Our first time at the sit down location. Went right into the Lamb & Chicken Satay. Loved it along the Pork Bao buns.Meegoreng was great. Spicy but not over the top. The Laksa was very good, but missing a little of the creaminess of the broth & the Lemongrass flavor we remember at the Atwater outlet. Otherwise fantastic. Love the vibe of the restaurant. I'd say you guys are well loved by the customers for good reason. We hope to get up there in the summer sometime, but will easily go back to the restaurant. Best wishes for more success!

Run! Don't walk - to Satay Brothers. If you're in Montreal, this is the place to go. We made a reservation for a group of 7 & the experience was awesome. We went for the $55 (CAD) tasting menu & it was so worth it (fyi, this option may only be available for groups of 6+). Every plate was flavorful & delicious - our favorites were the chicken & shrimp skewers, fried chicken, laska soup, & the ribs. The atmosphere is poppin'. YDefinitely gets pretty loud inside, but overall a very fun & lively vibe. 10/10!!

I had a gift card given to me, so I finally got around to going to the restaurant. I so wanted to like this place far more than I ended up liking it. I have had their food at the Atwater Market & in the Royal Victoria Hospital this was first in the actual restaurant. We arrived around 6pm on a Friday, as I paid for 2 hours of parking my wife went in to secure a seat. When I found her they had seated her at the front bar & I was supposed to join her & when I saw the arrangement even though the parking was paid for I got us up to leave. The staff suggested perhaps we'd be happier at the back bar, which admittedly was less busy, but still not what I wanted, but decided to give it a go. Having perused the menu earlier in the day & had already painted a mental picture of what I wanted, I wanted to try a cross section of the menu. I asked about how sharable the menu was, & proceeded to order. As a quick side note, the prices on their own website are out of date, & just about everything was a little more expensive, not to the point where I was shocked but there is nothing worse than finding the prices online are incorrect, this is in my opinion unacceptable. I'm not saying a photo of the menu that was out of date, I can accept that, I mean front & center on the website prices are wrong, this would be a 5 minute html fix, but not done. Nevertheless we ordered & then we were offered a table which we moved to. We had our laksa soup which was very good, a strong start. Next was a chicken satay sandwich, which was the beginning of the end. It was very middle of the road. Sandwiches have the capacity to be a star attraction, but this was middle of the road, too much peanut sauce not enough of anything else to really appreciate. Our order of vegetables of the day arrive. While waiting I ordered a Pandan Daiquiri, which was good. We waited over 20 minutes for our Rendang beef & rice to arrive, we actually had to ask them to check on the order, & it was still a few minutes before we had our "main" dish, by now the simple vegetable dish was cold. The presentation of the beef was lack luster, just laddled on to a plate with little to no ceremony, while tasting fine, it just looked kinda not so appetising. Lastly we took a kueh salat for dessert. Again while it tasted fine, it was not presented in any pleasant way, but still looked better than the beef. We paid, & we left. On the drive home I concluded that since I hardly had to pay that much due to the gift card, that if I had paid for the meal I would have been pissed off by what we had. During dinner I described the place as less a restaurant & more a night club that has food. The place is loud & quite chaotic, which is part of the reason I don't think service is great, it's too busy & full of people for the staff to be attentive. So I now have another Montreal restaurant I don't need to go back to. Since the pandemic I have felt less & less inclined to go to restaurants. We used to be so spoilt in Montreal, good food, good service, reasonable portions for a reasonable price. Now I struggle with this regularly & this place doesn't stand out enough for the prices, the portions are on the small side for the prices. I mean a plate of Asian greens for $11 is outrageous, it's cooked vegetables, on a ratio of about 6:1 of preparing it at home versus eating it in a restaurant, 3:1 maybe 4:1 is the most they should be charging for this kind of thing. I fear for the future of restaurants in our city, people may be willing to pay these prices but I don't think they have an appropriate appreciation of value. In any case this is my review & I always try to find a strong counterpoint in my reviews to be as balanced as I can be, but I don't think I have anything to add, I can't even say free ample parking.

We had a team event/dinner here & everything was managed so well! The server was able to take everyone's dietary requirements into consideration & remember it when serving such a big group of moving around people!! The drinks were a solid 10/10! We had a table full of multiple dishes & the standout for me was definitely chicken satay & baos!!! Melt in mouth!

Run don't walk to this gem. The fun atmosphere, incredibly warm staff, & not to forget the incredible food. You'll regret not eating here whether you're a local or just visiting. I had the chicken satay, laksa, papaya salad, & the pork bun. If I had room I would have eaten them all over again & a few more bites. Thanks for the nice meal Satay Bros!

decently sized laksa with creamy flavourful soup & tender chicken ($2 extra, so $18 in total)! it's not too spicy, so the flavour was really good. i think the dish was done well. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 they only take reservations for 6+ people, so it was around a 20 min wait during dinner on a saturday. there is a connected bar next door we were lead to by the staff so it wasn't too bad while waiting. we were seated at a communal table & service was very nice & quick!
