Came to montreal on a trip from Toronto, this was the best meal I ate by far, & I had some good food. Everything was amazing but the shrimp skewers & pork belly buns were phenomenal. Great vibe too.
Mannn this place was so top tier, 10 outta 10. We had a party of 8, so it was a « set menu », which they altered because of our various food restrictions & overall just wants. I didn't take a picture of all the food that was brought to us because I was diving in there as soon as the plate touched the table but likeeeeee it was sooo good. Not pictured is the super well seasoned fish, which paired with the bao buns were my favourite dishes. The waiter was also amazing & didn't stop bringing plates over until we were full
This place has incredible atmosphere amazing staff & even tastier food - it's a very trendy vibe with a chill lay back touch -lighting great & music is a perfect level. THE FOOD, it's amazing I can not reiterate enough how great - please please try the pork buns & the fried rice ! Sooo great our server Mason was lovely & Frank provided an extra touch of care to an amazing service.
we came here last year & it was amazing so went again & this time it tasted different. it was good, but not great. Rendan beef was too salty & spicy to my taste. buns were good but nothing special. drinks were not impressive too. maybe they changed menu or some ingredients, but it's definitely not like a year ago.
We visited for dinner, arriving around 5:30. There is no sign above the restaurant; you just have to know you are in the right spot.
Decor inside has a lot of dark wood & deep red. There are string lights & large cans strung across the ceiling. Music is loud but not so much that we couldn't hold a conversation or hear our server.
We did not have to wait for a seat at the kitchen bar, where we could watch some of the food being plated.
The server was phenomenal, speaking English for this monolingual tourist. He tailored food recommendations to each of us based on tastes & spice tolerance. :) His recommendations were spot on for each of us. Each food item was brought out as it was finished by the kitchen, so it was always piping hot.
The pork buns were delicious. I had leftover peanut sauce after finishing the chicken satay, which I also ate by pouring it over some of my husband's leftover rice. (My choices did not come with rice, which I thought was odd.) My absolute favorite was the black rice pudding dessert. My husband has a spice beef dish for dinner that was extremely tender & perfectly spiced according to him. His dessert was a warm cube of pressed, seasoned rice with a green, custard-y top. Also good, but not as yummy as mine!
The place is clearly popular with the locals. By the time we left, there was a line to get in.
It was unclear how to get a table. The host disregarded us & then sat us in a corner. It was extremely hot in there, especially where we were. Slower service as well. They brought the wrong drink, even though I ordered a different one. Cute atmosphere though & yummy food. Good place to eat before a night out. Highly recommend the pork belly buns.
Eaten here 4 times, tonight had papaya salad, satay chicken & shrimp squewers, fried rice, pork buns, coconut beef, spicy veg, & salmon. Everything delicious, well presented, great service. No complaints at Satay.
Super sympa, bonne bouffe & staff souriant. Les bun sont incroyablement bon
I recently had the chance to try this place for the first time. Every thing was delicious & amazing! The service was awesome & I ate way too much. Can't wait to go back & try some new dishes! Sorry, no photos, the food did not stay on the plate long enough! The pork buns are definitely worth a try, as is the papaya salad.
Had a booking for 8 on sunday at 7:30pm. When we entered, the place was packed with other groups. I thought the service or the food would be slow to come out but i was definitely wrong.
Our waiter was really nice, explained the food, & made sure my friend with a food allergy got a suitable replacement.
The food was a set menu for the entire group. 7 plates for 55$. Every plates was delicious, i thought I wouldn't be filled initially but i was wrong again. There was barely any downtime between plates coming in which was nice. The plates were mainly meat (chicken skewers, fried chicken, ribs, lamb, pork bao bun) which was perfect for me.
Overall, food, service & atmosphere was great. Definitely recommend going there to everybody.
One of my colleagues highly recommended this place (infact she was adamant we try it out) & glad we took her recommendation! Got to try a few things on the menu & most of it slaps. Definitely check out the fried chicken buns & the skewers. Flavourful, fresh ingredients & the skewers had a unique smokey but a piercing marinating sauce effect to it - gotta try it to believe it. If you're in the area or want something different - check it out!
Satay Brothers is hands down my go-to spot in the city. The food is unreal - full of bold flavors & totally worth what you pay. The vibe is always super fun & welcoming, & the decor is cool & laid-back without being pretentious.
You can't make reservations, so be ready to wait a bit - but honestly, it's part of the charm. & if there's a wait, there's a small bar right next door where you can hang out until your table's ready.
Must-orders? The bao buns, the laksa, & the Satay Ayam. But honestly, I've had everything on the menu & it's all amazing!!!!
Satay Brothers feels like a little hawker stall dropped into St?Henri. Color everywhere, sambal in the air, & the pork?belly bun/laksa combo hit all the comfort spots. Tiny room, big vibes-worth the wait in line.
One of my favourite Montreal spots. Super well priced & great vibes. Highly recommend the pork belly bao buns, papaya salad & kueh salat (SO GOOD).
Pandan daquiri is nothing special. Satay Lager is solid.
Walk-ins unless you're a large group so the wait can be a bit during peak hours. If you're a big group, you need to do family menu, which is good value for money.
A place totally worth the hype! The food is delicious specially the Laksa & buns. It has a laid back atmosphere & a speakeasy next door.
