Staff was incredibly friendly, & the bites were wonderful. We were offered refills on scones which were excellent & fresh out of the oven, & the scone toppings flight was a wonderful twist. Reasonably priced. Will definitely return.
If you're looking for a lovely afternoon tea in Montreal, then you've definitely come to the right place, rest assured you will not be disappointed at all, let's start:
1. We were served first with lovely fluffy scones & a selection from a variety of teas (I took apple pie, she took cream of Earl Grey). They also have gluten free scones which was appreciated (notify them when making reservations). The choice of 6 toppings (butter, cream, triple berry jam, marmalade jam, bourbon caramel, & lemon curd). EVERYTHING was delicious. We could have asked for more, but we saved space for the savoury round coming up next.
2. We had each gluten free selection & non-gluten free, it had: first layer: salmon quiches; Second layer: cucumber sandwiches, each sandwiches; Third layer: cheese cakes, shortbread cookie, cookie cake, butter tarts, & fresh fruit. Everything was fresh & we especially loved the cheese cakes.
3. We were so full & satisfied. Definitely, this will become a tradition for us to come to this place.
4. The staff were so personable & took time to chat with us, they were so friendly & welcoming & offered us the gluten free goodies to take home.
You'll see in the third picture that we ate everything!!!
I would give 100 star rating if I could.
Wow my friend & I were pleasantly surprised by this place. The quality of the fresh products (scones & varieties of teas), incredible service with very nice waitresses. Everything is homemade!! It's our first time but not the last.
Great place for afternoon high tea. The freshly made scones are everything & we appreciated the friendly customer service. Thank you!
Such a sweet spot on Monkland!! The food's quality is truly amazing (very fresh & a good variety) & the teas are interesting & flavorful:) It's also worth noting that the service is top notch! I went there with my friend twice & we both loved it & had an impeccable experience each time! They were also able to accommodate my friend's diet restrictions!! (vegetarian)
I visited this cozy, vibrant tea room with my two daughters for some afternoon tea. We got a warm welcome from this gentleman (apologies for not remembering your name) along with Donna, who came to check up on us a few times to make sure the food was upto our tastes & according to our dietary restrictions (no pork & alcohol). We probably had the best scones here after England! The spread for their afternoon was aesthetically pleasing & sufficient for 5-6 people. Donna sent us home with complimentary freshly baked scones! The whole dining experience was very enjoyable, & they made us feel right at home. We will be returning soon! Thank you to the team of Gryphon d'Or for delivering an exceptional service!
What a gem! We had such a great experience; fantastic service, wonderful friendly staff, excellent food all prepared fresh. Homemade jams, hot fresh baked scones, exquisitely prepared desserts, we can't say enough about the place! The owner even came out to greet us & was just a pleasure to speak with as she shared her passion for the food & for our common love for musical theatre (as the played show tunes once the afternoon tea was wrapping up! 🥰). We are now officially hooked & look forward to going back soon! ♥️
We reserved the tea room as a large group of ~20 people, & we were blown away with the service, quality & ambience. Firstly, we really appreciated the cozy, laid-back atmosphere. The food was delicious & filling, many of us had to bring home leftovers as we were too stuffed. The quality of the food was great too, the standouts being the freshly baked scones, phyllo cups & the mini-cheesecakes. Above all, the service was excellent. The waitstaff were lovely, congenial & attentive. For many of us, this was our first experience having afternoon tea, & I can confidently say that the Gryphon D'Or set the bar high! Would definitely go back in the future & highly recommend.
My friend & I came for lunch on a weekday & loved our sconewitches (pictured) with a side of salad & soup all made fresh & in-house. There were options for both meat eaters & vegetarians, but less so for vegans, as many ingredients contained dairy. For dessert, we had bite-sized shortbread cookies, butter tarts, & carrot cake - all incredibly delicious. Our meal also came with a pot of tea which we were allowed to sample & switch, should we have felt inclined to. Thank you for the wonderful experience, we certainly plan on returning ! Note: They only accept Cash or Interac E-transfer & reservations are required as there is very limited seating.
All I can say is I wish I had discovered this little gem years ago. So cozy & such a friendly & generous staff. As for the food, everything was perfect & so fresh. The scones were served hot with their homemade jams, creams & custards. The assortment of petit fours were absolutely delicious. I can't pick a favourite as they were all so yummy & moist. We almost cleaned out the 3-tier plate, but then were ready to burst. I'm definitely going back & you should go too.
I came here with some friends that were visiting & i truly enjoyed my experience. I like how it's small & intimate. It really gives it that homey feeling. Everything was very fresh $ tasty. Loved the fresh from the oven scones & the toppings, especially their homemade caramel, just hit the spot. Service was also great & the personnel just seems very real & genuine. I had a great first experience, I am already looking forward in coming back lol. Just make sure it's planned in advance with a reservation!!
First time & didn't know what to expect! Food was great especially their fresh baked scones with whiskey marmalade. Shared pictures are 2 portions which cost 60$ (30$ each) total. This included the tea of choice & scones which you can ask for more at no charge I believe but I could be wrong. They do have a brunch menu which is around 15$-20$ from what I saw. Nice selection of tea like the ginger peach & dragon green tea. They also have coffee & hot chocolate. I recommend to call & reserve as the place has only 5 tables from what I saw. Note that they don't have high chairs or boosters for kids. The only thing I find is that the table is small for 4 people but I believe it's because we got the table that was in a very tight spot & I had no arm room so I felt a little uncomfortable. I do want to say that the service was excellent as they took their time to explain & were checking from time to time if everything was okay.
This restaurant is my favorite place to go in Montreal. Home made absolutely delicious food every time. So fresh & I'm always impressed. I highly recommend this cute little gem on Monkland Avenue. Sidenote: Best Afternoon High Tea too!
