Review Summary

Saiko is consistently praised for exceptionally fresh, high quality sushi with beautiful presentation and genuine care in every dish. Reviewers describe the fish as buttery and melts in your mouth, with many calling it the best sushi in Laval or the Montreal area, and several noting that the menu offers creative and flavorful rolls alongside classic sashimi. The dining experience is characterized as intimate and cozy, with a boutique small space that benefits from reservations, especially on weekends. Service is frequently described as friendly and attentive, though a few mentions acknowledge occasional slower pacing when the kitchen is busy. BYOB is noted as a plus by many, and takeout is highlighted as excellent value for money. Overall, the restaurant is regarded as a gem with consistently fresh ingredients, thoughtful plating, and strong consistency across visits, making it a top choice for sushi lovers in the area.

Had the pleasure of having dinner at Saiko for a family dinner celebrating a birthday tonight. It was my first time to this quaint little byob restaurant that impressed me a lot. The food was delicious, the sashimi was very fresh, the rolls were all exquisite & very tasty. The service was amazing & the staff very friendly. I feel lucky to have found a gem like this in Laval not too far from home. I will definitely be going back. I also noticed a lot of takeout so will for sure be ordering from there regularly from now on.

Excellent food. The fish tasted very fresh & I like that their sushi rolls had a decent ratio between fish & rice (less rice compared to most other places, which I really like). Overall would recommend & come back.

Excellent sushi! 10/10 recommend coming & trying out their specialty rolls. The st Dorothy , Deluxe , & Saiko rolls are amazing! The plate presentation is also very nice. Service is slow but we did not care because the quality of the sushi was excellent.

Best sushi I had in a long while, best presentation & service as well. I live a bit far but will be returning for sure; worth the detour! Had the sashimi lover combo & a maki combo for 2 & it was exquisite. A good mix of standard rolls & exceptional, stand out creations. It had been a while that I've seen every patron in a restaurant take photos of their food, but everyone here couldn't resist! It's just that pretty. & delicious. BYOB as well.

I order from this restaurant quite often & have been a regular customer ever since I discovered Saiko more than a year ago. I did not expect to find such an incredible sushi restaurant in Laval. Since discovering Saiko in Laval, I refuse to order sushi or sashimi anywhere else. It is simply the best sushi restaurant. Staff at this restaurant are always friendly & accomodating. Prices & portions are very reasonable & the menu offerings are not overpriced like at many other sushi restaurants I have been to. Service at Saiko has always been punctual & orders were always ready on time for pickup. The sushi rolls & sashimi on the menu are beautifully crafted & delicious. They resemble artwork. Sushi & sashimi are always made with the freshest & tastiest seafood & ingredients. Of course, the emphasis is on the freshness of the ingredients. In addition to this, Saiko excels at every aspect of sushi & sashimi creation. Perfect ingredient pairings & flavor combinations used in sushi rolls & sashimi platters at Saiko demonstrate the ability of the chefs to understand different cuts & types of fish. Sushi & sashimi flavor & quality at this restaurant are on par with, if not better than, some of the best & most expensive sushi restaurants I have been to in NYC. I highly recommend the Chirashi platter, the Ste Dorothée roll, the Saiko roll, the organic salmon nigiri/sashimi & the aburi nigiri/sashimi offerings. I truly hope that Saiko in Laval will continue to be with us for many, many years to come & continue to maintain its superb food & service.
