Review Summary

Solymar Montreal offers generous portions and a wide array of authentic Peruvian flavors, with favorites like ceviche and lomo saltado earning praise for quality, while large platters are ideal for sharing and groups. The ambiance is lively yet comfortable, and live music on some nights enhances the experience. Service is consistently attentive and friendly, and although some dishes are pricey, the generous portions, thoughtful presentation, and breadth of options provide good value, with recent visits noting improvements in seafood dishes and overall kitchen consistency.

An amazing Peruvian restaurant that truly delivers on flavor! The lomo saltado was absolutely outstanding, perfectly cooked, well seasoned, & easily one of the best I've had. Having recently traveled to Peru, I can say the authenticity here really shines through in the dishes.

The ceviche was slightly on the fishy side for my taste, but everything else was spot on. From the quality of the food to the overall experience, it was fantastic. Definitely a place I'd highly recommend if you're craving authentic Peruvian cuisine!

I'm editing my review. After coming back a couple of times, I've noticed several improvements. The quality of the plates has improved, especially the ones based on seafood. Ceviche is always good & Pisco Sour is the best I've tried in a very long time. Propably the most common plates are not so good (I don't like Jalea or Lomo Saltado here) but other plates are delicious (like Chupe, Pariguela). The desserts have also improved, I recommend the picarones. The prices are still a little high, but they're similar to other Peruvian restaurants in Montreal.

In my opinion, Lomo Saltado was very good but a little too much of Soy sauce & Jalea dish was very dry. It can be improved.
