I recently dined at Canal Restaurant in West Island, Montreal, & it was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was warm & inviting, with beautiful décor & a relaxing atmosphere by the water.
The service was top-notch-friendly, attentive, & knowledgeable about the menu. Every dish we ordered was delicious & beautifully presented. The seafood was incredibly fresh, the flavors were perfectly balanced, & the portions were generous. I highly recommend the grilled octopus & the seafood risotto-both were bursting with flavor!
The cocktail menu was equally impressive, with creative & well-crafted drinks that complemented the meal perfectly.
Overall, Canal Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. If you're looking for a perfect spot for a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or a night out with friends, this is the place to be. I'll definitely be coming back!

For us it was a novel experience to have dinner in a fish market, but it seems to be popular with many people in the neighborhood. The process is that we could choose any kind of seafood that they had on ice & they would cook it for us & serve it with either french fries or rice & salad. Their selection was varied & fresh & the standard plate with salad & rice accompanied well. I had a bit of trouble getting used to the "interrogation style" lighting, & it took a couple of tries to understand how things worked. Also, they have no liquor licence & we thought a nice white wine would've gone well... All in all though we can see why it's popular.
Came here for the 1st time recently & was pleasantly surprised by how fresh the food was. Very fun place to eat a family style seafood meal. The Atmosphere may through some people off if they don't know how the restaurant works. But overall, amazing.

The dishes were absolutely delightful: the fresh seafood was cooked to perfection, especially the grilled shrimp & octopus, which were perfectly seasoned with a lovely blend of herbs & seafood flavors in every bite. The fried small fish were crispy & delicious, & the lemon added a refreshing zest. The salad was fresh & well-seasoned, offering a crisp & pleasant taste. The restaurant was clean & tidy, & the service was warm & attentive. The overall atmosphere was cozy & relaxing, making it a great choice for family dinners or gatherings with friends. the greatest seafood experience i've ever experienced in montreal. been ordering from here multiple times for many years & have never been disappointed (except once when i paid extra by accident). highly suggest trying out the family combos
