It went SO BAD this is the last time we're ordering from his restaurant.
- order made 2 days earlier didn't arrive on time & they wanted to delay it 4h!
- when we asked for faster delivery, we had to negotiate & in the end pick it up ourselves, with less dishes than we ordered.
- even though they confirmed the food will be ready when we arrive, we had to wait 30min & only because we pressed the manager to make the food ready & we gave up one more dish.
- NO APOLOGY AT ALL! The manager blamed us for not checking the tracker in the email - which didn't work!
- as we waited, there were multiple plates prepared in the kitchen for guests sitting in the restaurant (& there were not that many guests!).
- taste of food very dissappointing, bland & not at all what it was in the past. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
- the trip we planned to take the food on was delayed 2h because of this & we had to buy extra food because they didn't give us the full order.
- OH! & we had to call after a few days to remind them about the refund because they didn't do it!
This is a real Mexican restaurant with dishes that go beyond the usual street food. I was pleasantly surprised to find regional specialties on the menu. I finally found a Mexican place that doesn't feel like a beachside taco shack.
We chose to try this restaurant because they had a stand down. It smelled really good outside in the street during the month of June when there is the mural festival in San Laurent Street . The advertise said three tacos for $15 with a free soft drink. We should've probably tried this offer , but thinking the qualities is the same if we sat in the terrace, we decided to go by their menu, which was different from their street sell. The terrorist looks nice & with the music festival it had a good vibe to sit there, but the food wasn't tasty/authentic, we weren't served with water nor utensils until way after our food was served, (a waitress, literally passed by our table with a picture of water & looked at the table without serving us water), my tacos was just a very soft tortilla bread & beef. No tomato/onion/cilantros/… anything! The guacamole was like a light green liquid (nothing like real guacamole) & didn't taste good, the nachos we ordered was not hot & the cheese wasn't melted. Looked like they just grated the cheese over some nachos & some randomly salsa sauce & brought right at the table. We added beans as a side dish, & it came cold & tasteless. & to just make this experience even worse, we had to wait so long after we asked for the bill , & it wasn't even crowded. I'm still posting some photos that I took so you wouldn't fall for the appearance of the restaurant. Save yourself time & money & try another Mexican restaurant. Even the chain industrial Mexican restaurant (3 Amigos) comes way better than this. (to be absolutely fair. The only thing good about this dinner. Was there small salad on one of our dishes, which was a simple salad, but ended up as the best part of it, compared to the quality of everything else)
The owner it's very nice & friendly, I really love the food at this place. It's very tasty & reminds me to Mexico's taste. The staff is very nice & friendly. I definitely will come back to try more dishes. Do not hesitate to come & try by yourself. Thanks Stacy for talking with us
First off I want to just say that the food is amazing. The guacamole was very good & the tacos I had were great, especially the hot sauce. The margarita I had was also very good. But this was where it stopped.
The menu in this place is just lost. We were told to scan the QR code but then we were also given a different paper menu that was brunch but we couldn't order the dishes that had eggs. Please just make a menu that includes things such Enchiladas etc. along with the taco menu online.
Next, $18 for 3 tacos with no side is a bit steep. They were very good but perhaps some rice & beans to call it a complete meal? Also, $14 for a small amount of guacamole & chips that was smaller than the picture really was disappointing.
My wife & I were part of a big group & we shared the guacamole, each had 3 tacos & had 2 margaritas & our bill was $100. & the worst part is that we left hungry, as most people did at the table.
The service was also a bit disjointed. Most of the people got tacos & from the first main to the last I would say was 20-30 minutes. There were also hot appetizers, nachos, that arrived after the mains.
This place has all the potential to be a great restaurant, they have delicious food, good drinks, & great location, they just need someone who can take it, revise the menu & work on the service/timing.
We were so excited to try this place because we ordered online for catering & the taste was always great.
Arriving we're facing with renovations in the street & at the restaurant, we wanted to sit in the back because of the noise, waitress not welcoming nor happy of asking her to crean the back table for us.
Her service was poor, clean our table with pure bleach, took long to get the drinks probably because she was mostly focused on her phone.
The chilaquiles we're nothing like the pictures online..
Chips with salsa, a piece of meat, a sprinkle of cheese & onion.. no cream or frijoles as written in the menu, asked for 2 plates & because we didn't wanted cream on the kids tacos, waitress assumed no cream at all.
The Pancita had a good portion, but just the plate, no oregano, tortillas or chips, no nothing.. For OVERPRICED dishes I was expecting better presentation, taste & quality as written on the menu..
We will continue to order online for catering because we like a few dishes & the owner is very nice.
Hope this review helps to improve the quality & service. Is such a nice place with potential but don't forget about customers.
La comida sabe muy muy bien!
Cannot go wrong with loving people who make lovely food. Our family goes there often & everytime it hits the spot. Brunch or lunch. You will leave satisfied. Homemade taste with special touch service every time we go. Especially on Sunday brunch/lunch.
Traditional dishes or more Western dishes. All good good good. I especially love their tripe stew (or is it soup?) Great flavours, spicy enough to make you smile & feel alive. If anything, it would be perfect if the tripes were a bit more tender & less chewy but otherwise, I am definitely ordering this again (& again).
Great portion too!
This is the best Mexican food I've had in Montreal. The dishes were delicious, flavourful, based on authentic recipes, & made from scratch with fresh ingredients.
The brunch place that preceded this one I did not care for, so it's nice to see a fresh brunch restaurant open up in this great location. A Mexican brunch place is a welcomed twist as this is one of my favourite cuisines. I found the menu interesting as it was mostly composed of Mexican dishes, with a few American dishes thrown in. The menu didn't really seems to have a clear flow to it.
Although I did say I love Mexican food - I am a huge fan of Chicken & Waffles which are not easy to find in the city, so I could not resist to see what their take on that dish would be like. I have to be honest, it was a bit weird. They threw a generous portion of berries onto the dish which looked nice but really did not compliment the rest of the dish. The waffles were alright but the fried chicken wasn't the best, the coating needs work. The quantity of chicken given was appreciated however. Service was very good, & the place has a bright & colourful feel to it. The owner even came around & blessed me with some complimentary pan dulce which was a nice touch. This place has true potential, I think they just need a third opinion on the menu from someone with more industry experience.
