Great dine in experience with comfort & atmosphere & good music too! It wasn't loud when i went there but there was an event
100% recomendado!
We had the fish tacos they were good & they had a good variety of Vegan options, the waiter that gave us service Melissa was so helpful & patient.
Cute Mexican restaurant! Good food & great service by Valentina! The guac was delicious & so were the enchiladas & tacos Al pastor.
Had the cajeta crepes & some pastor tacos & they were so good! Prices are good & you definitely get what you paid for, big portions & good taste. Service was super & very friendly. We loved the vibe, the music was so fun :)
Amazing Authentic Mexican Food!
This place is a hidden gem! The food is fresh, flavorful, & clearly made with love. The tacos were packed with taste, the guac was super fresh, & the enchiladas were to die for. Great vibes, friendly staff, & margaritas that hit the spot. Can't wait to come back!
As a Mexican, I can confidently say this is the best Mexican restaurant in Montreal. The flavors are authentic -like home - with prices that are more than fair. The atmosphere is warm & lively, striking that perfect balance between casual & special. It's become my must-stop spot every time I'm in the city. The chef is always kind, present, & genuinely passionate about sharing the true taste of Mexico. Whether you're craving tacos, enchiladas, chilaquiles, agua de horchata, or just a little piece of home, this place delivers every single time.
We visit quite a few Mexican restaurants. I have to say they have the best tacos. Is dog friendly. Very friendly staff.
I'll admit we came here because we were staying around the corner, it was raining, we had a dog, & they have a patio with a roof. Stroke of luck. Staff were wonderful, & the tacos are awesome!
First off I want to just say that the food is amazing. The guacamole was very good & the tacos I had were great, especially the hot sauce. The margarita I had was also very good. But this was where it stopped.
The menu in this place is just lost. We were told to scan the QR code but then we were also given a different paper menu that was brunch but we couldn't order the dishes that had eggs. Please just make a menu that includes things such Enchiladas etc. along with the taco menu online.
Next, $18 for 3 tacos with no side is a bit steep. They were very good but perhaps some rice & beans to call it a complete meal? Also, $14 for a small amount of guacamole & chips that was smaller than the picture really was disappointing.
My wife & I were part of a big group & we shared the guacamole, each had 3 tacos & had 2 margaritas & our bill was $100. & the worst part is that we left hungry, as most people did at the table.
The service was also a bit disjointed. Most of the people got tacos & from the first main to the last I would say was 20-30 minutes. There were also hot appetizers, nachos, that arrived after the mains.
This place has all the potential to be a great restaurant, they have delicious food, good drinks, & great location, they just need someone who can take it, revise the menu & work on the service/timing.
The food is fine? It's just fine. We ordered pork tacos & we were all pretty convinced it was chicken which isn't a great sign?
I will say the vibe here is very strange because the owner/manager is extremely anal about bathroom use.
We witnessed an argument between her, a waitress & a group. One of the women in the group wanted to use the bathroom but the owner complained that she didn't order anything. I'm pretty sure the other members in the group did so I personally would have let her use the bathroom? One of the men in the group had to hand her a $5 bill so that the lady could use the bathroom.
The restaurant was also super understaffed for a Friday night. There were a total of 3 people working during Mural Fest's first Friday.
Later, when I tried to use the bathroom, that same lady stopped me on my way out to question who I was. I had to literally point at our table of 4, with food at it, & say that I was a diner here.
She then proceeded to give me dirty looks from the kitchen/counter any time I got up & when we left.
- Responding to owner. I'm sorry you're experiencing vandalism, but I was a paying customer & you specifically made me feel like I was trespassing even after having spent almost an hour eating/waiting for the bill.
You also seem to habitually understaff/overwork your servers as they expressed how stressed they were several times during the meal, apologizing for the long waits while you stood behind the counter glaring at people
We were so excited to try this place because we ordered online for catering & the taste was always great.
Arriving we're facing with renovations in the street & at the restaurant, we wanted to sit in the back because of the noise, waitress not welcoming nor happy of asking her to crean the back table for us.
Her service was poor, clean our table with pure bleach, took long to get the drinks probably because she was mostly focused on her phone.
The chilaquiles we're nothing like the pictures online..
Chips with salsa, a piece of meat, a sprinkle of cheese & onion.. no cream or frijoles as written in the menu, asked for 2 plates & because we didn't wanted cream on the kids tacos, waitress assumed no cream at all.
The Pancita had a good portion, but just the plate, no oregano, tortillas or chips, no nothing.. For OVERPRICED dishes I was expecting better presentation, taste & quality as written on the menu..
We will continue to order online for catering because we like a few dishes & the owner is very nice.
Hope this review helps to improve the quality & service. Is such a nice place with potential but don't forget about customers.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at 514 on St-Laurent, & I can confidently say-it's one of the best Mexican restaurants in Montreal!
The atmosphere is vibrant & welcoming, the staff are friendly & attentive, & the food… absolutely delicious. From the tacos to the birria, everything was full of authentic flavor & clearly made with love. The guacamole was fresh & zesty, & the margaritas? Let's just say, they know what they're doing!
What really impressed me is that they also offer delivery-& the quality remains just as incredible. Perfect for a cozy night in or when you're hosting friends & want to impress.
It's located on the iconic St-Laurent Boulevard, about a 12-minute drive from Old Montreal. If you're in the city-whether local or visiting-514 should be at the top of your list.
Can't wait to go back.
Highly recommend!
