Restaurant Le 514 is widely celebrated as a premier destination for authentic Mexican cuisine in Montreal, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere that captures the true essence of Mexico. Many guests describe the experience as a delightful journey home, praising the flavorful dishes such as tacos al pastor, pozole, chilaquiles, and fresh guacamole. The restaurant is frequently lauded for its exceptional, friendly service and the genuine hospitality of the staff and owners who often go above and beyond to ensure a positive visit. While some guests have noted occasional delays during busy events or provided feedback on pricing and temperature control, the majority of patrons highly recommend the establishment for its vibrant decor, creative cocktails, and consistent dedication to quality, making it a beloved spot for both casual dining and special celebrations.
My experience at Le 514 was honestly terrible. Before ordering, I specifically asked about the portion sizes & even showed reference photos so there would be no misunderstanding about what I expected. I was reassured about the portions, but what I received were what looked like kid-sized portions, despite paying over $20.
The issue wasn't just the portion size-it was the way we were treated when we brought it up. After being reassured beforehand, I felt completely misled. When I decided I wanted to leave, the situation became even worse. Instead of handling the complaint professionally, the staff insulted us, called us'broke,' laughed at us, & were extremely disrespectful.
The service was rude & unprofessional from start to finish. On top of that, I found the food descriptions to be misleading compared with what was actually served.
I don't mind paying $20+ for food when the quality, portions, & service justify the price. What I do mind is being reassured about something beforehand, receiving something completely different, & then being insulted & laughed at when I speak up about it.
Overall: extremely disappointing experience. I would not recommend Le 514 based on my experience.
I'm a visitor, coming from Chicago, & I was looking for some good Mexican food. I came across this place & my first visit was great, I decided to stop by one more time before I left to get a drink, it's the only place that I came across that had Modelo on draft but I had a the opportunity to have a great conversation with the owner. Got to learn a lot about Montreal & the community as well thanks to her! Will definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a good Mexican food, good drinks, & an overall great atmosphere. I am definitely going to be coming here again on my next visit!
A ne pas rater si vous voulez vraiment bien manger Mexicain sur Montréal ! Cuisine excellente tout comme le service & l'accueil !je recommande vivement ! Pour notre dernier repas sur Montréal c'était parfait ! Merci 😊
Had some dinner & drinks. The drinks were good but a bit warm. The food was alright. I'm not gonna say it was bad but the taste & quality didn't match the menu price. The server was very attentive & friendly. I'd be back once the food improves & maybe then recommend it.
Great food, amazing ambiance, & super clean & welcoming. Despina is an amazing waitress, she was so funny & made the experience so much better. Definitely a place I recommend visiting!!!
I found this restaurant a couple months ago & have been going back every chance I get. The food is great (I particularly like the steak tacos) the decor is really nice, & the overall atmosphere is very comfortable. If you can make it for a Salsa or board game night I highly recommend!
Even though the restaurant was practically empty, it took them 15 mins to come & take our order, no one offered us water, which is a basic courtesy in Montreal, especially on such a hot day. There was also no salt or napkins on the table. We had to ask for them & were given only one napkin per person.
The food was disappointing. The tacos were very greasy & overpriced for the portion size & quality. The only thing we actually liked was the lemonade.
The waitresses were friendly, but the overall service & food quality did not justify the prices. We will not be returning.
Our experience a group of four people in this restaurant was not good! Summarizing our experience: weak service in a empty restaurant, small portions, watered-down cocktails & extremely sweet dessert. I payed $52 dollars only for my food: chips & guacamole that seems for 1 person $15,tacos birria (dried & small) $20 & a margarita cocktail $16. I I went home hungry & feeling unsatisfied. Nobody in the group liked the food, & we all left hungry! I definitely don't recommend this place!
This was my first time visiting this restaurant, & unfortunately, I would not recommend it at all. The portion sizes are far from representative of what you are paying for the plates were extremely small & overpriced for the amount of food served.
We ordered nachos as a starter to share, & the portion was barely enough for two people. On top of that, the restaurant was practically empty, yet the service was still disappointing. We basically had to beg for water because the waitress refused to leave the water bottle or pitcher at the table when we politely asked if she could.
The food itself was overly salty & nothing special. We were also offered a dessert that was basically just sugar, definitely nothing memorable or worth recommending.
Overall, this place was far from being an enjoyable dining experience. Between the poor service, tiny portions, high prices, & average food quality, it is not a restaurant I would visit again.
It was my first time visiting this restaurant, for a wonderful Mother's Day Mariachi celebration dinner, the food was authentic & delicious, along with the atmosphere & staff.
I highly recommend this restaurant for an authentic Mexican experience & cuisine!
